General Supercharger Thread

Been a process figuring out how to put it together. Some post machining, some sanding, breaking parts, plasma cutting new throttle blades, but it seems to work! The idle is surging bad, I'm on my second throttle blade and evidently it's still not sealing well enough so will have to try making another, but it did respond to throttle inputs which is a win!

What's the gap? On that 103mm TB I had I was able to move one of the plastic gears and closed it up. Awesome that you got it going!

 

Right now is maybe .020" in a couple spots. It's not a matter of closing the blade more, just getting a consistently round blade that fits correctly.

 

Second rotor, pads & second caliper bolts arrived.

 

I got my replacement boost gauge from AEM...and it's DOA...been dealing with trying to get a boost log since I started tuning with @snivilous back in April...now I get to deal with another RMA.

 

Weird- that's annoying. Did you replace harness etc?

I did, I rewired with the harness with the new wiring they sent with the replacement gauge. I had to take the glovebox out to remove the gauge, so I took the time to shorten the wiring and make the gauge cluster removable. I also tested with another harness I have, only power and ground, not much to mess up.

Lol, true, but most have been self-inflicted.

 

I have been throwing around the idea of ditching my AEM AFR gauge and going to the AeroForce gauge. 1 gauge does it all basically. Only thing I was looking at is that the AF gauge only does 10.1-20.1 on their AFR sensor which is a LSU 4.9. I have been meaning to contact them to see if this is accurate since AEM can read down to 8.1. I ran their gauge with my SC 06 Silverado SS and I liked all the options it had and never had an issue.

Just sent them an email to see what they say.

 

Or buy a used one and send him that. Keep your original.

 

I raced a TRX on the freeway and out ran him but it pulled on me after 80mph trucks fast.

Yeah, not gonna lie that TRX is very very quick.

Than I realized it's a hellcat engine AWD so instantly started feeling better about losing before his governor kicked on haha

Yeah i was thinking about that, not sure how good that would be on the transfer case past 40mph?

 

Don't ask but...they do well into 100+. Even with my original 2007 transfer with 120k on the clock with a mix of on/offroad.

 

Did you have any excess air from these 2 spots for the TB bolts that maybe arent sealing with the coupler? Try fill/smooth with some rtv to ensure no excess air gets in. You know I'm the king of airleaks...

I’ve heard of driveshafts blowing apart, specifically on RCSBs going 120+. Never heard of a blown transfer case though.

 

I was worried about that too, but the coupler I'm using is thick and compliant enough it seems to fully seal those pockets. This was proven yesterday when the throttle blade I coated with RTV just to experiment with worked well enough that the truck couldn't start since there was no airflow. That super tweaked throttle blade I got to work well enough to drive around, but the truck didn't like it and kept throwing stuck open or stuck closed errors so now waiting on the new laser cut blades.

Did you try the harness before cutting it up?

 

No, but I used my fuel pressure gauge to verify the boost wiring worked, and vise versa I plugged the boost gauge into the fuel pressure wiring connector and got the same result. I also did continuity testing on the wires from the deutsch connectors to the gauge connectors.

 

You are on 35's also. Probably a different story if it were like my truck probably. I have 33's but SL rated not E rated. My set up is actually a tab bit lighter or the same as OEM wheels and tires.

 

Has anyone seen this? First time I come across it. It's from KN. It's a dry filter for the 07-13 airbox, which is what came with my SC kit.

Was there mention of if it was the front, or the rear? The fronts are all the same as far as I know. The rears on the other hand . . .

Nice! Are those just upgraded accumulators and not over sized? No drilling out the ports? Cool to see if you notice firmer lockups over the stock ones.
