On two different occasions now towing (also noting only in tow/haul mode) I’ve gotten the P0101 MAF code. Never get it driving unloaded even when driven hard. Must be from continuously moving a lot of air pulling a load up hills that it triggers the code since it’s probably maxing out the voltage for over 3 seconds. It causes no issues and I just reset it with my scangauge on the fly but I could see this getting annoying long term.

Don’t even want to go down the path of retuning on a 4” intake at this point. I can’t even get DAP to address my rough startup issues. No response, hopefully once he’s back from the tundra Tennessee takeover he will reply.

Yeah I keep a close eye on it while towing and as soon as it gets any kind of decent load on it my AFRs go into the 10s. When I see the light is on I’m not sure it it had been on for a few minutes and I just then noticed it, or if I saw it illuminate in my peripheral and that’s what caused me to notice it. I think it’s the former.

As per Viktors post from earlier in the thread I stand corrected on the likely cause of my P0101. Perhaps it’s more related to my fuel trims, which I’d guess are overly rich (+15%) when towing. Just a guess though. I guess I need not worry since the code could just be disabled. I think it’s importance is minimal if my AFRs are good.

Nags, Was your cat burned up or just partially clogged up? I was having the cylinder one misfire on the 1-2 shift. My truck is at 114,000 miles so it makes me wonder about the condition of mine. So far since I swapped to Hptuner and fixed PCV leak Slownstock has eliminated my cylinder one misfire. We are only on revision three with everything dialed down to really fine tune things though. Life and work are slowing things down. Mine might come back once we turn it back up. God I hope not! I’m in the gotta have emissions test zone so I’m kind of limited on options. Almost everything I have read states a lot of people with headers can’t get rid of the check engine light.

My 1st emissions is this month...this better go well.

I don't think Texas is very strict.

Maybe I should finagle a way to put the fake plastic engine cover over the blower? LOL

Really depends on who you get and what kind of mood they're in...my last inspection turned into a 45 minute modification/performance discussion with the guy inspecting it...and it passed.

Is Slownstock doing the tune revisions himself or just been giving you advice?

Himself since I left VFtuner. Seems like a good guy! How do you like Viktor’s tuning? Slownstock said he didn’t want to mess with headers if I bought some. He didn’t feel comfortable doing them remotely. I am pushing an old truck pretty hard though!

I’ve been thinking about doing Viktor’s fuel system upgrade to make sure I have enough fueling. I will for sure if I get headers! Any one running e85 on a Harrop stage two?

Never thought the day I'd see Texas is more strict on emission test than Ontario, they stopped it couple years ago.

Does he offer remote dyno tune or live tune?

Had my hand slapped recently for getting political, so I'll refrain.

    HOWEVER-

The rules say as long as I am not throwing an OBD/emissions code, I will pass.

Haha, I aim to stay non-political in daily life too, makes life better.

That makes it not so bad, they used to run sniffer and obd plug here, which was an interesting time as wife had an RX7 that likes to shoot flame even with cat.

By email. I’m trying to find a dyno to use though if possible but I don’t think anyone will let me just use their dyno with someone else tuning??? Here at my location nobody wants to tune a tundra from what I have heard. I have asked three places before Slownstock and nobody was interested.

Did you put the Harrop CARB sticker in the engine bay? Might help.

I wonder if on road tuning offers a better feedback? i.e. using track day or precise measurement for acceleration, since that's on road and you can literately see if you are accelerating faster.

I’m no expert but have heard sometimes dyno tunes need some tweaking to work a little better on the road. Now it maybe in high hp builds.

Not a Harrop but someone in a seperate thread posted a Maggie build that runs on e85

National Speed looks like they are offering e85 as part of their "Stage 4" package; runs about $20K total if you are starting from scratch.

I wonder how much of a Hp gain the e85 provides? I know on Mustangs it makes a good power increase due to octane rating and additional cooling.

I didn't see it myself, so I'm not sure. Ultimately, they just yanked the cat off and took it for a test run and the misfire was gone. So at that point I hit up the exhaust shop.

Will do. The shop that does it builds mostly one off stuff and race/drag stuff. Hoping he comes up with something sweet for me.

Too bad we don't get e85 in Canada.

Quick question, has anyone send their truck to Prospeed to have a built block?

Whatever this forum told me to do
    good question.

and how much would that cost? All in.

    $10k?

and, does all the Toyota engine management stuff (OBD) still work like you would have a stock block?

    see..I would do a built block, rods/rings/bearings....for 750hp on 93 octane.
