Super easy on the Tundra because the bypass valve is right up front next to the pulley. On the Tacoma, the bypass is at the rear of the s/c by the firewall

 

I mean the brass restrictior. Been out for a while.

 

I opened it up by 2/3rds. I just drilled it open at each pass from fully opened to where it is now. Did it back when it was discussed some months ago. Probably should just remove it...

 

Where is this? On which SC models?

 

I have it on my Maggy 1900

 

Tvs1900. I believe the 2650 has one too. Bottom of bypass where vacuum hose attaches.

It is a Pearson education seminar and tonight they have a "prom" that is just a party. i doubt there is any prize outside of Geriatric prom queen.

I just went out and checked my TVS2650 and didn't find one in the same location as there was on my TVS1900, at the bypass valve. If for some reason it's in the other end of the vacuum line, I can't get to it with the blower installed. The hose goes from the bypass just above the stock Fuel Pressure Regulator, behind the throttle body to somewhere under the front of the blower where I can't see, nor fish my hand.

I looked overvthe magnuson site should have a .035 orifice at the bypass. Could of looked at a different one by mistake...

 

I tried to find some thing there too, but no luck. The only alternative that I can think of would be to catch someone pre-install and have them pull the end of the hose opposite the bypass valve to see if it was placed there. When I checked at the valve end of the hose, I even squeezed the hose in several places to check if the jet may have crept down the line.

I haven’t had my truck for several weeks but I am excited to do the restrictor removal mod, fuel boost reference mod, pin my trans cooler open, put in a lower engine thermostat, install caltracs, solid engine mount and other fun mods you guys have found haha. Then back to tuning with Sniv!

 

Don't forget the throttle body coolant bypass

 

Ordered the new MAF from @TurboKits.com at 10pm on Sunday and it was delivered and in hand by noon today! Extemely quick delivery. Hopefully the CEL will turn off after a few more drive cycles so I can get the emissions testing done, then will see about getting a revised tune to accommodate the new MAF sensor.

 

So what exactly does removing the restrictor do? I just checked and I have one.

" Remove it for better overall vacuum at idle and cruising, better bypass valve functionality (now moves as quick as the throttle body can) and better boost consistency. Added bonus is you gain back boost you should have with the pulley in place"

Trying to comprehend what better overall vacuum does as far driveability. And also, will it boost more, it says you gain boost.

 

You will have boost build up quicker, not a gain in psi, and it could feel a bit touchy when accelerating. The restrictor just restricts how fast it will ramp up or down based on vacuum. You may like it or not.

You're looking for that little brass orifice that looks a lot like a carb jet once you remove the hose from the nipple. Or it may stick in the hose, or fall out to never be seen again.

Now that I've thought about why mine isn't there, I think that I likely removed the hose to get it out of the way when I was installing my fuel pressure regulator and it probably fell in to some cranny.

 

Probably already removed it. haha

 

I remember removing it from the 1900, and then reinstalled it because I couldn't discern a difference. Then I promptly forgot about it's existence until brought up the other day. Who knows, it's gone now.

 

Just an FYI, the restrictor mod description i posted was copied from the first page of the Tacoma s/c thread. But it's also a magnuson and a lot of the info still applies to tundras in some fashion or another

I just read some of that. Interesting that he said that the butterfly on the bypass can also be maladjusted and not sealing all the way allowing boost to escape. Apparently he picked up some boost because he leaned out .3, very little but non the less.
