Got it back, only the radiator & cooling parts in, he had an emergency after wasting an hour not getting the 2.3 pulley off. Said it is too small for the puller I got the original off with & he broke his puller trying.

I'll bring the truck back Saturday for the cats.

It was idling for 20 minutes before I left, running almost 20 degrees cooler, the thermostat that was there looked new.

Damn, just clicked that you have 81k on your Harrop already. Wonder how many miles you’ll get out of the coupler. At what mileage do you plan to change the oil? Seems you have had a drama free ownership other than that bad harness you had gotten. Happy to see it.

Whatever this forum told me to do
    yup.

It's on the list of things I'm thankful for.

so far, a relatively uneventful, albeit thoroughly enjoyable, ride on the S/C train.

    and --
If changing the s/c oil was a simple as changing diff fluid, I'd do it this weekend.

Question for the fine, upstanding folks that have mucho miles on the blower:

how long as anyone gone before needing to:

    1. change the oil?
    2. change the coupler?

I would think the oil would last quite a while past the 100k service mileage.

Oil and coupler at the same time...Maggy suggests every 100k miles...just buy the kit either from SCOL or eBay and prepare...good time to consider upgrades/updates too with it disassembled.

Not 100% but I believe with the Harrop you can just unbolt the rotor pack from the tub and leave the heat exchanger and intercooler hoses, and the manifold portion all installed. Should make it much easier to change the oil on a bench then, and if you wanted pull the snout off and do the coupler too you could.

You could drain a 1/2 gal coolant, top hose, pull the idler pulley and water crossover. Pull the snout get the 2.3 off and press on the hub and 2.2. Don't wait when you can enjoy it now. :D

The current pulley is only slightly bigger: 2.299213

I don't drain any fluid to change the pulley. Unbolt the supercharger and angle the nose up so you can unbolt the nose and voila. Don't have to disconnect the hoses at all.

Hell I even pulled the entire supercharger on that guy's truck without spilling a drop, lifted the blower up, disconnected the hoses and zip tied them to the hood and was able to put the blower on my bench.

With my luck not only would I have an air leak at the snout but also the intake...probably both banks! :eek2:

Yea and I kind of glossed over the fact that pulling the 1900 is a bit of a bitch, though building a tool like this helps, coupled with a shaved down 12mm on a 1/4" drive with a U joint

I have 5 keys, went to program them, all BUT the one I gave the shop work. Programmed the bad one.

I know they all worked after the ecm swap.

Why wait for the rest, when you can have the best. :p 2650 seems too large for a 4.7 though, 1900 would be sweet. I’d bet the 1900 would operate in a higher efficiency island basically through the whole rev range since it probably has to be spun much slower. If I still had a 1st gen I’d be all over it, especially since VFtuner actually has real tuning support for the 2uz now.

Got my first blackstone report ever done. Almost 4k miles on Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30. Good results it would appear to me. I was worried I had something coolant related going on as I had to top off my reservoir, but I believe it’s from the upper radiator hose and cap seeping based on residue I saw in those areas. Gonna have to replace a few of those items.

How much psi can the stock 2uz handle?
I know the Japanese manufactured 4.7 is supposed to have forged rods. Whereas the American 4.7 in tundra/sequoia don't and had issues with too much psi.

New O-rings, seals, coupler, pulley, oil, and cleaned off as much shit as I could (I'll detail the outside once installed). Ready to go back on the engine!

    PXL_20240621_001328726.jpg

And in the process had to pay the blood sacrifice to the supercharger gods due to a box cutter blade, hopefully that means the rest of the truck will go smoothly.

Yikes! The only real choice to fix that is to use "super" glue it back together.
