Yup. When it gets to 70-80 out I'm on 40w. Think I'll keep it year round now.
@blenton forgot the toyota master tech on tundrasolutions but he swore by 40w for our 5.7's. Been running it this way for 10 years.

Gotta get yardwork done. Swap and test injectors and put new pulley on:eek2:... back on track for supercharger thread.:D

I dont know the clearances for our 5.7 but it has been posted that in other parts of the world the 5.7 can run up to 20w-50. It's only here in the states where the EPA/CAFE sticks their hand where they dont belong. Also giving the advice of 10k oil changes, yeah ok.

Well here in Miami it's always 90 with 100% humidity, so I will be also switching to 40.

I am about to go run my GM 5.7 to 4000+/-rpms and head out for a weekend camp out at sea.

Yeah I would have went up in weight but we get to sinvle digits in the winter. I dont want to switch back and forth in types and you shouldnt mix different viscositys. So I went from 0w-20 to 0w-30. Im sure I could have went 5w-30 but figured id stay closer to mfg suggested

I guess I've tuned and logged so much that I wore out the mpvi 3. Can't connect to it in scanner, editor doesn't see it and either vehicle power not detected or device not found errors. Trying another usb c to USB cord but went through two already. HP warranty info is a pain they want files, proof its not working, etc...be easier to hardwire it to the ecu

I have used my MPVI 2 for over a year, minimum 100 flashes, seems odd they would "wear out"

That's really fucking weird. I had one day a few months ago tuning a customers truck in person, and the MPVI seemed to just shit itself. Did one flash, went to do another and it said failed to connect and I went ahhh fuck it's bricked. But it wasn't, the stupid thing just refused to flash. Finally after plugging it in five times I was able to get it to flash again to at least get a decent tune on the truck. Was really weird, first time that had happened and never happened again.

The past two weeks or so I've now seen three ECUs get bricked, and multiple people with similar things that happened to me where the MPVI doesn't get picked up or does weird shit. I wonder if something is up with HP Tuners.

It can hook up to a phone via Bluetooth to use one of the track apps. But according to Bill@HPTuners, bluetooth is basically useless otherwise.

    https://forum.hptuners.com/showthread.php?101445-MPVI3-Connect-to-laptop-with-Bluetooth

Post 5 from the thread above: “VCM Editor does not work using bluetooth and VCM scanner is very slow using bluetooth so I would not recommend using it for scanning either to be perfectly honest.”

    @blenton

Main bearing oil clearance. The Lexus LS400 1UZ (33 years old) and Lexus IS-F 2UR GSE both spec 5 or 10W30. The 3UR FE and 2GR FKS spec 0W20.

    1990 LS400 1UZ standard all journals .0010 - .0018

    2008 IS-F 2UR and 3UR Tundra/Land Cruiser journals 2 - 4 .0010 - .0015
    Journals 1 and 5 .0007 - .0012

    2016 Tacoma 2GR FKS journals 1 and 4 .00075 - .0012
    Journals 2 and 3 .0010 - .0014

    1990 LS400 max clearance limit .0022
    2008 IS-F 2UR and 3UR Tundra/Land Cruiser .0024
    2016 Tacoma 2GR FKS max clearance 1 and 4 .020
    Max clearance 2 and 3 .024

Some info we can apply to our boosted trucks. People who track their IS-F can see high oil temps with 10W30. This, of course, is due to inedquate oil cooling from the oil to coolant heat exchanger. Lexus solved the issue with an additional external oil to air cooler on the RC-F and GS-F. Lexus considers the oil overheating way up at 284F. Some guys tried 20W50 and it ran even hotter than 10W30… just too thick. 5W30 with stock liquid and fat oil to air coolers for me. Piston oil jets can lower piston crown temps roughly 50F… but the oil temp needs to be maintained.

Yes sir that it can but sometimes it doesn't recognize the OBD connection. Thus the reason maybe the vehicle power not detected error but not sure.

It seems to have gotten worse over time. I did notice my techstream and scangauge 3 OBD 2 pins are noticable bigger in comparison to the mpv's pins. Sometimes if I have it plugged in at the slightest angle itll pick it up:rofl:rolling the scangauge for now but can't datalog so that sucks for now.

I've seen connectivity issues off and over the past 2 months. I would have to wait a few hours for the mpvi3 to be recognized by my laptop. Could me mostly on my end though...

    FWIW/FYI post..

State Farm's initial value came in pretty solid @ $55k before mods are factored. Claims called me today to ask about the mods as the guy who looked at the truck made a note regarding them. I was told they reclassified my truck as a speciality vehicle due to color and mods. Should have final numbers mid next week

It’s actually hilarious how small that pulley looks on there! There will be no driving that puppy without hitting boost/PE on the regular lol. That’s one thing I’ve noticed is even just going from the 80 to the 77.5 in my case the PE has to start quite a bit lower on throttle angle as it starts hitting 2-3 psi of boost as soon as I hit a hill. It used to be 45-50% TPS, and it’s since been lowered quite a bit, still trying to dial that in with Dan. Aiming for a 12-13ish AFR in those low boost areas.

It already comes on at 27%. I consistently hit 11.8 psi 5800rpm and once in awhile 12psi at 6300rpm. I've dialed it back to 6000rpm max with shifting at 5600rpm 3-4-5. PE hovers at 10.8afr down to 9.9afr but usually settles right at 10.5afr.
I was at mid to high 12psi but with shortening the exhaust to dump over the axle it went to under 12psi. I made up 2 shorty dumps at the muffler so will see if it lowers it more. I know I lose some low end torque and i guess we'll see.
