Anybody know how to soften up the 2-3 shift with HPT? It really slams into gear at higher load/rpm compared to the others.

I'm not sure what cell count it would be equivalent to.
I opted to run 200 cell metal catalyst that were welded in place. Concerning the heat, rich afr and pressure against a ceramic catalyst it will eventually fail.

Edit:*I haven't seen too many threads where the Toyota cats failed. What is considered high flow these days? I did not see what the cpsi is for the Tundra cats.

I'm not 100% sure if there is. Only saw and messed with torque pressures for command throttle under engine torque trans.
I was taught quick clutch engagement eliminated clutch packs from getting burnt.

I haven’t personally done this - or even tried, really- but over on the HPT forum I recall seeing SlowNStock taking about pulling timing right before the shift as an OE strategy to softening shifts without increasing shift time or decreasing line pressure and risking trans clutches. I will see what I can find but perhaps look in that direction.

I had the hard 2-3 shift try this per SlowNStock. Works like a charm

Another option besides the above might be to increase torque reduction for 2-3 shift

    Fuck me! 6100rpms!?

My present truck has never seen 4500rpm's!

I just want a SC to help with towing over a few mountain passes. I'm gonna have a hard time doing WOTs for a tune base.

Am I in the wrong thread?

Right thread! You're going to have to rip to make sure your tune is dialed in especially power enrichment. I've hit 6k so much I've lost count:notsure:lol

You could always set up your tune to have the redline at 4500rpm.

In my mind, that’s kind of like marrying a supermodel and then not wanting to see her naked.

I have a set of high flow cats on my new set up, hopefully they last longer, I will keep the stock cats on stand by.

I had one set with a metal catalyst implode and clog on bank 1. I have a set of old 200 cell magnaflow cats that were fully welded for the catalyst cells and have held up for the past 8 years.

Oh, you are in the right thread all right! The truck is a great towing platform out of the box. With a supercharger, it is an insanely good towing platform. That’s why I SC my truck and it has already proved itself to me in that regard. And you don’t need 6k rpm to tow with. 8k enclosed - no problem holding 5th at 65mph. At over a mile altitude. 4th for the climbs, but 5th is easy. Seriously, my mind was blown. I “knew” the SC helped with towing, but I really didn’t KNOW how much it helped. Now I do.

    So get one already :D

This is honesty the biggest worry I’ve had about aftermarket cats: too many stories about high flow aftermarket cats that take a dump shortly after install or throwing CELs, while the shop just “tossed” the OE cats and you get to foot the bill for new, Uber expensive OE cats.

I'm using a o2 sensor bung extender, hopefully that helps with any CEL.

Who here has installed their own?

I down loaded the install PDF from Sparks and printed it out so as to see the pics better.

Reading the manual several times, I see nothing real technical doing an install.

I have my own shop and lift, so dropping the tank is not a big deal.

I installed my Harrop, nothing that difficult other than the weight of the SC. I used an engine hoist to lower the SC onto the engine. Also, I'd recommend getting a metric thread chasing kit to clean the threads in the head before installing the bolts.
