Wow. Our guys wasn't even running E85:

So how does running E85 work? Do you have to swap tunes or is it flex fuel?

    level 2

I never ran it on e85, it was tuned on 93 pump gas. It was setup for e85 with the proper injectors and fuel pump, but never switched over.

    Interesting.

So how did you push such high numbers and not grenade your engine? Your tune must have been on point. Seeing folks break rings lands, crack pistons, and throw rods at much lowers PSI and WHP numbers.

Tuning was precise with different failsafes in place for AFR readings, etc. Was at around 75% injector rate utility, and the pump had plenty of room to go. If I really wanted to push it could’ve got it to mid 620-630’s on pump, and well over 650 on e85. Didn’t want to push my luck that far though.

From the little bit I've read, the first real mechanical failure is the rods at like 700whp. Though take that with a grain of salt. Point being if you run plenty of fueling the engine seems to be able to handle quite a bit in stock configuration, which that guy seems to back up.

Too bad we can't hook up some fail safes since the AFR gauges will output a signal when your boost or AFR is outside of parameters. I guess you could install a big red light on the dash

It makes sense which is why I was wondering about incremental upgrades before going big on a short block.

The only other folks I've seen offer E85 is National Speed with their " Harrop Stage 4". The price point and build parts list doesn't mention Motec or the GM sensor. Possible it just isn't listed.

This will be 4. It's odd because it goes to 40 for a second on start up & drops to 20, also, it does not go lower when running the adjuster out.

I swapped in the old FPR hoping that was the issue. Same behavior.

Of course, it's the hottest it's been (104) I picked it up & will little by little it.

    Can I sell @ 105?

Fucking feed hose was loose again. I'm seriously not understanding how tight I need to make that hose clamp, both times it was to the point I was worried I was going to break it, so I replaced the "best fuel clamp" with a regular one.

The one on the left was there, I used the one on the right this time, I forced the hose on the nipple, then pushed the clamp on & tightened it further than I like but I really don't want to do this again. Anything else I should do before buttoning it up (with difficulty, there's 3/4 of a freaking tank)

I think I used mostly the clamp on the right, but used one or two of the ones on the left with the Radom Venturi pump

In case anyone is wondering, 4 is the number of times I was able to r&r the tank before the strap bolts stripped.

Waiting for Amazon next day delivery of helicoil knock offs only m10x1.5 ones available for next day. At least they have 4.5 stars

The tank is perched on 2 jacks, not thrilled I could not finish.

I found a slightly bigger bolt that worked on the front strap, the back strap's fully blown out.

I have never Helicoiled, any tips outside the instructions on YouTube videos?

Hopefully, the repair & Loctite will do it.

So what are thoughts for keeping the engine happy and safe?

We know higher AFR to cool the rings/cylinder? Alternate solution is gaping rings/gapless rings may recoup some fueling.
Looking at a bunch broken piston picture, knock and heat seem to be the killer of piston heads. Common trend seems to be cracked lands (addressed above) or a holes punched right through the head (probably a concentration of heat). Not a metallurgist.

    Thoughts?

Having a cooler running Harrop helps I would think. Here are some thoughts on helping a boosted 5.7 live from Matt Smith from older posts on FB which I found interesting.

I was not aware that the TRD coolant cap raised the PSI! Interesting

That's what the PSI rating means....
It prevents coolant from expanding into the overflow tank unless the system reaches that pressure.
