    tru dat

I thought the same when I watched the D3 Performance video on their turbo Camry. the turbo is mounted where the muffler used to be....like right where the back tire is throwing rain and debris. Ponderous.

reminds of the Squire's Turbo Systems stuff.

I really appreciate all the knowledgeable people on this forum,I am not trying to build a monster machine with 1000hp just a daily driven capable, fun(inner Child)towing vehicle that stays relatively reliable. I purchased my Tundra as a retirement vehicle knowing I will keep it forever. I think from my research that the Harrop seems to be a better design but I am still researching. Are 650 injectors and the Waterboro pump the way to go or do you need something else?

Stage 2 Harrop comes with everything you will need. it's what I have.

    Stage 2 = 80mm pulley, 650 injectors, fuel pump.

I was at Prospeed in May of 2021, and that truck had been there for a minute then.

Thanks, that’s what I thought! Sounds to me like I’m getting an extra degree of blade opening without that extension harness somehow. Perhaps it’s related to the added resistance through the harness? Interesting either way.
You can use it but I’ve seen it said by Prospeed guys and Viktor that it’s a restriction. They claimed 100whp restriction vs a regular airbox which seems insane to me. Higher than I would have guessed anyway.

What is the best radiator for our trucks? I broke the overflow nipple & have had weird behavior since. I can get a Denso from the dealer for 260 picked up or Rock Auto for 245 delivered. Is there any merit to a 500 aluminum aftermarket?

I would be curious to hear pros and cons.
I've watched several videos (small sample size) with rear mounts on cars but have not seen any failure vids posted. Quite a few showcase operating in the rain with no issues but I also acknowledge there are tons of variables that come in to play to properly test a rear or mid. The plumbing, to include oil, water and pumps, seem to be the most problematic to run.

Can you share what the issue was? I would prefer to stick with the stock transmission than a swap.

The South West Asia crews were fusing gears with the stock transmission but they were getting up there in HP. Not quiet 1000HP. Viktor's last update had him at ~750WHP without a built tranny but using the IPT valvebody.

I’ve seen a lot of complaints on CSF radiators leaking. If you want aftermarket aluminum maybe look at Koyo. I personally would go the RockAuto Denso route I think.

I don't think any of the NASA shit I've worked on has had any gold foil. There's lots of aluminized Kapton, but not gold foil (not to say it doesn't happen) like I said, compensating ;)

Not to sound rude or anything, but a lot of people (just generalizing here, please don't bite my head off) who own various models (tundra, Tacoma, 4R, etc) talk down on mid mount turbo setups and cite water fording, and make it seem like they do this daily, or even ever.

The vast majority of people who cite these circumstances will never ever see those scenarios in the entire time of owning their vehicle, and in my opinion a mid sized truck is far more likely to see tough off roading scenarios than a full size.

I happen to know someone who is well known for building great mid mount turbo kits for both cars and trucks and he'd be up for doing so for the 5.7 if there's a market for it.

He's best known for his 6.2L Raptor and 370z mid mount kits, the latter of which recently was used on some world championship car for som event if I remember correctly.

I do recognize that a mid mount setup DOES preclude a certain number of people from ownership indication based upon their uses and the risks involved as a result, but that group of people is very specific and pretty small, and most people who think they're in that niche are lying to themselves and they could safely run a mid mount setup.

Not rude at all. It is about tradeoffs. The demos I've seen make it a great option for 95% of use cases; more so for a street truck with lite off-roading.

Thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge with these.

It rains enough in my area that water is up over the curb 2-3 times a year, just this week actually, high enough to short out my Amp steps, high enough to get ingested by the turbo(s). If I were to do a rear-mount turbo, I'd route the intake into the truck bed.

Unfortunately I can't tell you because it's there in house solution/discovery. Eventually I'm sure they'll offer it if they don't already and their built trans. We just got to be patient and see what the cost/ package looks like. Ultimately, after they changed some things around on my VB after they got it back from IPT it was than able to handle more pressure. I'm sure it would of been fine for maybe 550-650whp and below, but I'm a tad beyond that with my truck.

Or some type of snorkel system if even feasible. The problem with what I am suggesting is lengthening the cold side reintroduces lag back into the system, at least according to Holdener's testing.

Turbo housing wont get as hot mounted remotely but I would still worry about cracking the housing by submerging a hot turbo in colder water; don't know what operating temps these would see however.

Blanket would protect the splashing but probably not submersion. Curious enough I've not seen many remote mounted with blankets or wrapping but this includes rear mounted too which would be pointless on full rear mount.

Just curious overall. Not trying to piss in anyone's Wheaties. Thought it was interesting one of the professional builders (PS) went with remote mount with success. Holdener's testing disproved the BS about lag with remote mounts.

Keep it in the engine bay, put a turbo blanket on it, formed inconel shield on the header, wrap the down-pipe, cover every wire/tube/hose in DEI fire sleeve and every solid surface in GOLD!

    Fair enough.

The only other turbo build I've seen was the Dynosty build that had Twins mounted upfront but low. I think it was using the fog lamps as intlet openings.
