Yeah I don’t doubt that it flows enough, I would just like to hear the actual LPH rating of it instead of anecdotal claims. He doesn’t know what fuel pressure the FPR in the kit is, so I doubt he knows the flow rating of the pump. If I had an FFV I’d probably leave it in there unless it was actually running lean. The closest real data I’ve seen quoted was Mat from VFtuner said it was independently tested and was “over 255LPH”, by who I don’t know. I doubt the FFV pump flows over 340lph though seeing as the stock one is around 150lph, but could be wrong.

I have no idea which DW came with the Harrop but the 300 I installed is pushing more than enough for my build.

How did it run without the cats? I'm thinking of doing that since the trucks run so rich.

I have four vehicles without cats and none of them have the rotten egg smell in the garage. I've heard the wife's 4Runner (only vehicle that had cats originally) has the rotten egg smell driving behind it, but never experienced it myself. And two of the other vehicles have new roof and I've never smelled rotten eggs from them driving around.

Rotten eggs emit a sulfur odor. I was led to believe that when you get that odor from a converter, the converter is bad. The ones that stink are definitely outliers, so maybe that's at least partially true.

Heading up to Westcott Designs right now. Hoping to flash the new tune for them and see what progress they made. I'll show them the pics for reference of the bung and see if that changes their opinion on installing it for me.

Runs good, but it is a DCLB with a 6 inch lift and 35s so a dragster it is not.

Update: Flashed the new tune to the truck late this morning at the shop, started it up which had a long crank ~5-6 seconds before it came to life. I'm assuming that was probably due to them relieving the fuel pressure when changing the injectors. We let it idle for a bit and turned it off. Restarted and it may have taken a split second longer than normal, but started up and sounded fine.

They installed the new coupler, the snivilous hub w/2.30 pulley, the FiveO 750 injectors, replaced the supercharger idler pulley (which was the slight squeal I had that Toyota failed to find the source of), green belt, and swapped the coolant crossover pipe with a replacement I got from Magnuson last year. The only items not done are the Walbro 450 with hardwire kit and the Innovate AFR/Boost gauge. They still felt the stock flex fuel pump was adequate and the Walbro was not needed and if I still wanted to pursue that they recommended Dyno Comp for that piece along with the gauge since that is more in their wheelhouse with the type of work they do.

Their lead tech said the truck should be done this afternoon, but I'm not available to swing back and grab it until tomorrow morning. I wasn't able to test drive it or anything since he was still in the process of finishing everything (installing the skid plates back on, etc). I didn't get any text messages or call so I assume everything went fine til completion. If all went well and I pick it up tomorrow morning I'll run a data log and see how everything is looking at this point.

Thanks again everyone for all your feedback and advice along the way during the process.

If anyone’s in the market for a whipple here in the coming weeks let me know I’ve got a potential deal to save some dough. And just to preface this is on new kits by a trusted forum vendor @memario1214.

RE: LTH are the folks that have them installed using high flow cats? I know one member reused his stock cats to clear CEL issues.

Aside from tuning I'm wondering if the cat choices are the reason for low performance on some builds; looks like SW come with cats but most other LTHs are BYOC.

This seems to contradict that the OEM cats are fairly good flow cats for stock.

I'm not running cats with my headers, tuned by Chris at ProSpeed, no performance issues whatsoever.

Did you get them catless to begin with or did you remove them when you noticed performance was low? Sorry for all the questions.

No problem, happy to share. I've installed three sets of longtube headers on this truck, all without cats. I started with AFE LTH and AFE exhaust when I was NA, performance was terrible and headers contacted intermediate steering shaft. Replaced with JBA LTH and Gibson dual 2.5" exhaust when I got the supercharger, performance was much better and put down 588whp. Upgraded to ARH 1 7/8 with catless midpipes and ARH dual "3 inch" exhaust and performance is outstanding, putting down over 600whp.
