I don’t have a dyno on site to validate, but I’m thinking this added at least 10 horsepower... Not a big sticker on the truck guy, but this seems modest enough to me and only means something to someone who knows. :spy:

Tempted to remove all the other badging however.

RE MAF + IAT Sensor: For nonHarrop folks interested in fabbing up cabling for post cooler IAT (you'll need a sensor port). When you are looking at the MAF sensor with the clip away from you, the two pins on the left are the temperature pins. On the Harrop they use a "Y" cable and those pins aren't actually connected to the MAF, they are rerouted from their temperature sensor on the left side, so three wires from the MAF, two from the Temp sensor, all five feed back to the ECU

Just an idea for the magnuson guys, it actually wouldn’t be hard to remove the top lid and drill and tap an IAT sensor fitting into that, it’s both thinner metal and flat for drilling. Then it’s technically reading air temp post rotors/intercooler. Could also be a good way to implement water/meth post rotors without damaging the coating. Actually, seems like a perfect solution.

Still not sold on the water meth though, it seems like it’s a pain for a daily driver/tow rig. More crap to monitor. If you are tuned for it you need to run it all the time since it’s richens the mixture. It’s definitely an all in commitment. If you run out or there is a failure with the water/meth system then all the sudden you’re running lean which as we all know is bad news with these engines. I know a few of us have watched this, but good info for anyone who hasn’t seen it. https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_co...uri=https://www.tundras.com/&feature=emb_logo

I'm surprised no one makes a spacer/riser. I've seen them for other superchargers; the ports can be integrated into the riser piece without altering the supercharger. Whipple has plenty of sensor ports. Maybe the 2650 Maggie will have ports built in.

My thought was to tap directly into the intake runner on the blower an inch or two above the head.

What's interesting also, is I've seen zero evidence that the truck actually does anything with the IAT temperature. In HPT there is a IAT spark correction table but in every file I've seen it's set at 0 across the board (and across the board, there are only two values at 122F and 158F). The Harrop may give accurate intake temperatures but it makes no difference it appears. With that said that table can be updated to actually do something, and I know VFT had said before they incorporated temperature retard features.

I had been thinking of developing a riser, mainly for meth or nitrous, sensor ports is a good idea and would actually make it useful on my own truck then.

That video makes a lot of great points. With all the drawbacks, maintain a full reservoir and fueling strategy, I would choose KillerChiller or carry a cooler of ice to fill an ice tank over meth/water.

My understanding is the ECM is looking at IAT, but the changes it’s making in regards to timing and such are not tables we have available to see or manipulate on HPtuners.

I suspected that was the case the with the IATs which is why the other companies didn't bother with the harness.

I wouldn't choose KillerChiller unless you can get him on the phone...I'm still trying to get my order from August of last year.

Oh yeah I was thinking more of the technology than that actual product. I'm tracking all the issues with that vendor. Viktor has a long thread about it on the other forums which is why I haven't pulled the trigger on that kit.

Another company makes a similar kit; I'll have to look through my bookmarks to get a name.

Thank you for bring this up though.

@mZiggy Do you have any input on how VFtuner utilizes the IATs vs timing tables as compared to what is available on HPtuners?

I think the tables are there in a rudimentary form, but how much data and points that can be viewed and changed in the tables on HP is another story. I don’t see how they wouldn’t be a rather critical reference point the ECM looks at. I think the other brands like the GM stuff there is a lot more available there for tuners to manipulate. This is speculation but hopefully mziggy can tell us what the scoop is at least on VFT.

One of the local tuners I called said he won't tune Toyotas because not enough parameters are available to modify. Dunno.

I'm not familiar with what HPT offers but if you mean on one table, x vs y axis, VF doesn't offer an IAT v Ign table

To clarify, IAT doesn't do anything in VFT at all?

I guess what we would like to know is… if the table isn’t offered does that mean the ECU doesn’t actually reference IATs for timing? Or are the tables just not offered, and the ECU is likely looking at IAT and making adjustments but it’s locked down in such a way because Toyota doesn’t want you manipulating those at all?

That seems like a must watch in the 3 to 12 minute range. Admittedly I stopped watching beyond that. I like how his points aligned and he really made it seem as if I knew what I was talking about.

It's entirely possible that tables like that exist and aren't accessible for that reason. Toyota is well known for tucking away tables behind safety systems separate from the main ECU.

That question may be better directed to VFTuner/Mat (OVTune) because I don't know what I don't know (what I do not have access to). A table could not exist or just not be accessible and I wouldn't know from just being in the software.

There are several tables that utilize ECT, across more than just spark advance. It's a pretty common theme I've seen across several Toyota models within VFT.

If HPT offers IAT v IGN, while VFT does not, it's entirely possible that HPT developed and provides a custom patch/table for use by developers.

There's a couple spark correction factor tables, which get used above a set IAT, but if there's more I haven't seen it.

Lol I was skimming since I was tagged, and now that I'm going back and catching up on comments, yeah this is basically what's in VFT.

these primarily use ECT, there's only a few that reference IAT and like I said, they're basically thresholds and correction factors
