Stock transmission and stock rods. I placed an order yesterday for forged rods, pistons, bearings, etc. I'll get a smaller pulley after the upgrades.

Sure, I'll post when I get the parts and after I install it all. It'll be a few months though, unfortunately, the pistons are made-to-order and the rods and bearings are backordered.

Ok. Apologies for being brief. Picked up my Stage 1 Tundra today. Very happy with the install and results. Well worth the money spent IMO.

Before#s Power ~297 Torque ~333 ( Starting numbers seemed low not sure if the Pedal Commander in ECO mode had something to do with it. I also dropped it off with 93 gas in the tank)
    After#s Power ~457 Torque ~453

I did throw a P0441 code when I left the shop. They logged it and cleared it. Drove home about 100 miles with the PC off and no codes came back on. Later on I tried it with the PC back on in another more aggressive mode and it threw the same code again. Could be unrelated to any of this also.

The PC is coming out, don't need it with the blower. OMFG it gets up to speed effortlessly. The poster that warned about driving in a truck with an extra +150HP was right; it is deceptively dangerous. The Tundra is a big heavy vehicle and it rides fairly smoothly for a truck. Went to pass a vehicle on the highway and got up in speed very very quickly.

My MPGs went up on the highway but went down in the city, which is what I expected; about +1.5 HWY and -1.5 HWY MPGs respectively. Getting into the pedal will certainly lower your MPGs quickly. She's a thirsty girl.

Also there appears to be some file that Harrop provides for the installer. The installer has to install it as is an cannot modify or tweak any settings. It could be the rep was mistaken but he sounded certain there is a file that is used to flash the truck, even the 2020s (this contradicted the other rep that worked with me who said no file was required; one of the tuner bros confirmed they cant even read anything from the ECU)

Maintenance seems straight forward. Coolant and oil. Unlike the Maggie the Harrop has to be removed to service the oil at 100K miles. They also recommend changing out the engine oil more frequently at about every 3K to 5K vice 10K. Seems like even with the intercooler, there is sufficient space to add a transmission cooler up front. I'll see what options are available if I got this route.

Congrats again on the Harrop! Great to hear good things so far. I am hoping I can still fit the Setrab cooler after my installation so still sounds promising.

Looks like the Harrop intercooler has a tab for mounting a radiator to it.

Do you find the exhaust sounding any louder with a supercharger?

I have a Magnuson installed on my truck so not a Harrop sorry, but I definitely noticed my exhaust got louder.

A little bit louder but with a much deeper tone.

My P0441 is most likely unrelated to the Harrop SC. I'll report back any relevant findings.

Doing a little bit of “on the surface” digging into a P0441, when installing any of these super chargers on a non-FFV truck, you have to drop the fuel tank and thus, have to disconnect both the filler neck vapor hose as well as the charcoal canister hose. Have you crawled under the truck to verify these are all hooked back in/pushed all the way on?

The other thing you mess with is the purge solenoid that is mounted onto the supercharger and should lead to the intake. It is pretty simple but wouldn’t hurt to check the connections to it.

    In the install manual: https://www.harrop.com.au/shop/system/download/190808_HARROP_Tundra_Install.pdf

3g (around there) is the valve itself, and you can see it remain connected to the longer vacuum line that runs down the drivers side frame rail.

11c is where you mount the VSV to the S/C

13e and 13f are the vent hoses on the fuel tank

Apologies if this is redundant information and you’ve already looked at this.

Nothing major to report, I don't have too much stick time on the truck since the the blower was installed, mostly local driving probably about 200 miles total if even that much.

Still throwing the P0441 when decelerating to an idle but no other issues overall; following up with the installer next week about the error code to see what Harrop had to say. A tune would probably fix the issue but no brands I would use are available for the 2020s so far. The issue is definitely not related to the Pedal Commander since I've isolated it from the system.

So far the displayed MPGs are about 1 to 2.5 MPG too high so it looks like overall MPGs will get worse if just slightly (based on a small sample size of mostly city driving). I think this will be true especially for city driving, highway driving below 65 seems to improve MPGs by about 2 points. You can actually improve the MPGs in city driving if you baby it to get to speed and to maintain speed but anytime you get on the gas pedal even a little bit the MPGs plummet very very rapidly.

The Pedal Commander also seemed to have an impact on MPGs too. For stop and go city traffic I saw big improvements in ECO mode but once I got on the highway it seemed to do slightly better in the higher modes: City through Sport Plus. I'll test this again but I'm probably going to get rid of my PC since I couldn't find a mode I was happy with. Interesting enough the truck's transmission didn't lurch like it normally does in Sport and Sport Plus mode, first gear was way smoother. I would keep the PC but I also don't want to buy new tires every 30000 miles if you get my drift.

Its crazy such a large vehicle can move so quickly and effortlessly. I'm still calibrating my sensitivity to the new available power. I pulled out from a shopping center to merge with traffic and squealed the tires as I pulled out. I cannot confirm nor deny if I left an 11 as I pulled away. I also took the old lady for a spin and now she wants to drive this instead of her fancy car. Go figure.

Would I recommend it as a short term owner? So far very much "Yes" but you may have to deal with error codes if tuning support isn't available (2020+). It definitely makes the truck feel lighter than it really is and the vehicle doesn't feel overly strained pulling as hard as it does. If you are getting it for MPGs improvements, "forgetaboutit". Tundra is a thirsty thirsty beast though you may see improvements depending on your driving behavior.

@Saltyhero13 does removing the pedal commander still have a slow response to the gas pedal or does the supercharger overcome that lag with the added power? I have the pedal commander also and I find it somewhat touchy when at lower speeds if the road is bumpy and my foot moves around. It seems to cause surging which takes more effort of concentration of my foot.

I've got both the pedal commander and the supercharger. The pedal response is the same as stock with the supercharger. The pedal commander is what changed the response for me. I had the same surging issues you described also, but changing to a different setting on the pedal commander seemed to eliminate the surging. I think I'm running the sport +2 setting, but dont recall without checking it.

Do you notice the trouble code affect the driving or does it seem like it’s just kind of there?

Yes. From what I can detect it adds a bit of lag more noticeable when accelerating especially from a stop. If you use PC it almost feels like the blower applies -8 to all the modes and settings from a stop but its not completely linear since the S/C is adding big HP on the little end too. So far I'm finding I like the stock feel with the blower. No issues with touchiness or too much lag and you can get speed on demand when you want it. I like my experience with PC but it feels completely unnecessary for me now. I really haven't found a mode I can settle into if I plan to keep it.

To compare, pre-installation Eco +4 was the only bearable Eco mode I could drive in but was very mushy, probably worse than stock but smooth overall. Sport -4 was bearable but had a very sensitive pedal. Sport Plus any setting felt like the transmission was slamming into first gear, way more so than Sport mode. I couldn't drive in this mode and felt it was a bit unsafe and detrimental to truck in long term use.

Post supercharger installation, ECO +4 is unbearable and feels very very unresponsive until I get halfway into the pedal, overall more lag added. All of the other modes including Sport Plus are actually bearable and I don't get the transmission slamming even on Sport Plus +4; it is still somewhat touchy in the higher settings but its not crazy like this mode is on a stock truck.

You nailed it! Good call! Thanks for your help.

I reached out to Harrop (excellent customer service) to work this in parallel and they told me to check the same areas you highlighted. Per Harrop's request they asked for pictures of the install near the valve. As I started snapping pictures to send to Harrop noted that the value wasn't plugged in (blue wires coming from item 11c).

So far it fixed the issue completely! No more P0441

Sweet! You would have had a vacuum leak if the solenoid hose was not "hooked" to the supercharger, but it being unplugged should be fine; your charcoal canister just couldn't purge.

Makes sense that it would happen on decel too, as vacuum is highest when in decel, and would make sense for the solenoid to open to purge from the canister.

I am looking at the same supercharger for a 2020 Sequoia and I told the guys at Harrop about your issue, his name is Ryan. I don't know if you spoke with him or Cris but they seem very helpful and responsive.

I am happy to see that they your issue are gone and I can't wait to see what you think after some towing. It will be the only reason I need this. Towing a camper and the stock is lacking a little.
