I wasn't gonna try to influence you one way or the other :D but since you quoted me: from my research I think HP Tuners can read from the Innovate gauge, though it's not that OBD2 pass through style which I've never seen but is very cool! With that said, any tuning I've received and done myself, the stock sensor is fine until WOT and then you tell the tuner what AFR you're getting at WOT, it's not like having active AFR telemetry below the 12:1 max rich reading is that helpful besides the single data point of what the max rich is--but idk how OTT does it or wants it. Couple that with the two sensor readings of the innovate and the multiple readings you can cycle through, I think the innovate gives you much better bang for the buck and packaging at the cost of the tuner having to interpolate the tune data between the stock sensor and the max rich reading you tell him. Food for thought.

Ya it’s all good now.. I decided I’m going to try and find a hub dyno instead of the one I was using. because if it’s too close to the grey area, I will probably go ahead and build the bottom end just to sleep better at night. I drive pretty moderate anyway but peace of mind is always good. I’ve just been out of town a lot the last couple weeks. Still trying to find a way to get home today because southwest just canceled our flight.

That sucks! Best of luck getting home.

I did a dragy run today, wanted to see how it would fare in the 20s. Spinning all 4 tires on the salt/cinders on the roads and got a 4.7s run. Seems to be a pretty consistent 4.6-4.7s setup at this point. I’m considering swapping out my fiberglass cap for a softopper. It would save some weight for payload when towing, make it easier to use the bed for tall items in a pinch, and would have the side benefit of dropping 200+lbs and be a little lighter on its feet. :rocket:

hi guys! so this past few days I've been really considering keeping the tundra for a bit and if we're going down this route I figured a charger would make it a fun drive!

Not familiar with the topic, that's why I'm all ears here, should i go for it? what are my pros and cons, is it worth the hassle?

Yes, a 100% go for it "issue!"

No downsides at all...still have toyota reliability but now with more power. You will need an installer and more importantly a tuner to use to optimize everything...there are no "canned" tuners to use and each tune is bespoke for your truck...that may be the only hurdle but it's really not, just need to fully commit. Same or better fuel mileage, blah blah blah.

You will never want another truck without a supercharger installed...mark my words

No hassles, just grins from all!

Install will happen after Baja for the whipple we tried getting in before but the shop in SoCal didn’t want any issues before the trip. Just Incase. But once it’s in I’ll definitely let everyone know how it’s running.

Whatever this forum told me to do
Question for the folks that self identify as tuners or tuner type folks or folks that have tuned, etc....(I had a meeting with HR last week)

Say, when I bring the Tundra in for the Innovate gauge install at Prospeed....and ask them to also dyno the truck & check the tune to see if they can evaluate the tune and/or improve the tune. maybe even clean up the 1-2 shift.

    because D3 tuned to the 80mm pulley/650's:

    1. I'm guessing I will have to do a full Monty on the HP tuner thing*? cost?

    2. will they be able to modify the tune that's on the truck?

    *D3 did not use HPT

and the std reminder - speak to me as if I'm a 5yr old or a golden retriever.

You will have to pay "full cost" as the tuning software used will not match (not be the same) and so therefore your VIN is basically unregistered.

They will not be able to modify your existing tune unless D3 were to provide them with an unlocked tune AND if Prospeed were to then subsequently use the same software to make or modify your tune. And since that isn't going to happen, that's a no.

They can "evaluate" the tune in the way of driving it or doing a dyno and datalogging (wot and street driving) to provide recommendations on areas for improvement, but that's about it.

    soooo...

I can modify the tune only if I get the HPTuner set?

    or

Only D3 can modify from now on?

For your current tune, it can only be modified by D3, or if they were to provide you an editable copy of the tune (which would still require another user to still use their software to access and edit it). And honestly, that'll never happen because it's all proprietary info.

I just went through this, they had to build a tune from scratch. Different tuners will do different things. In the back of your head( at least for me) you will always wonder if you can get just a little more out of the tune, a little more HP, a little more fuel, could it shift just a little faster.

Interested in what most people are quoted for tuning, because I was recently quoted an outrageous price...

I paid 1300.00, 1100 for the tune/dyno and 200.00 to strap the truck down, they said because it's so wide.

I think my remote tune was $600 but I also had to buy the MPVI2 and credits so that really ups the cost. I won’t have to do that again though if I stick with HPtuners though. I’m going to need a tune adjustment when I install the larger intake (thanks Fastlane47), so I’ll have to see what I get charged for some minor tweaks.

What’s everyone’s thoughts and opinions on this… Would I benefit from an RCF TB with a 4” magnuson intake (can also do the SABM to it) with an 80mm pulley, stock manifolds/midpipes and just dual exhaust? I’m wondering if it would actually flow any more air or if that’s just a waste of money in my case. I just want to have any future planned mods done at the same time if I need a tune adjustment for a 4” intake anyway.

I would say yes to the maggy box and sabm. Did it to mine and noticed a difference. The tb is a waste until much later in power for the cost according to Viktor G

My opinion...if you look at my dyno...it lays over on the top rpm's...@saltyhero13 's does not...he kept making power. intake being the main diff.

I think - you would gain top end...not so much bottom end.

pardon the weak-ass light green color of stage 2

That’s kind of what I’m thinking. If it was 400 bucks maybe I’d do it, but for 1000+ the juice probably isn’t worth the squeeze.

I love seeing the dyno graphs for these. The torque curves are awesome, how they are super flat all the way across from 2500rpm. I wonder in the case of Salty’s how much the RCF TB plays a role in it vs just having a bigger intake.

Was it AFE that is working on a larger CAI for the SC tundra? If they are making theirs 4” ID MAF pipe, that might be better because the maggy box is only 3.85” ID. We did get the maggy box to work with the 75mm pulley but OTT had to do some witchcraft with the MAF and injector scaling because we hit the ceiling for air for the ECM.

I'll be moving to this and making it work for my application. Since we will be removing much of the fender well area for suspension clearance.

    https://afepower.com/afe-power-75-11061-magnum-force-stage-1-pro-guard7-cold-air-intake-system
Visually im thinking it will fit horizontally then adding the maf tube from https://performancemrp.com/i-304979...-4-7l-4-6l-5-7l-v8-mass-air-flow-housing.html. I'll then run a 5" tube from the other side into the cowl area. This may change once I have all the parts but just what im thinking.

I said, "DAMN IT" as soon as I scrolled down that for sale post and saw you bought it lol. I was an hour late. You have the Stillen stage 2 intake currently right? Wonder what the difference between those two will be tune wise

Hey just buy two and make me one. I got $20 for the labor!

But for real, AFE's Magnum GT is top notch quality and fitment from my Taco experience. Can't wait to see what they do for the Tundra s/c version
