No I appreciate your input. I had already ordered my headers and exhaust from Keith before you mentioned this a little while back. I didn’t even realize different brands varied that much. I thought they’d all be the same. But had we had this discussion before I ordered them I probably would have not pulled the trigger on them. I didn’t dyno before the headers and I had VFtuner. So with VFtuner and headers I was at 477 at the wheel. And when I switched to HPTuners with OTT and they did some cam tweaks on the dyno we got up to 488 at the wheel. But not knowing what I was at with stock headers and comparing numbers with others. I felt I was a little behind. Definitely could be the differences in dynos but being under 500 wheel Hp, I talked myself into jumping on the 75mm pulley. Which was another adventure for my wallet lol. but this thread is really helpful with sharing knowledge about this platform.

I need to order one. I hate my current steering wheel mount. I also need to change my pillar to black so this would accomplish that as well.

That is quite unfortunate. Do you know if he will be building another tundra or is he off to tinkering with another platform? Would be nice if he would stick around to share his knowledge and experience. I did notice I haven’t seen him chime in anywhere lately.

He did not get another Tundra and instead bought an old F250 that he plans on making fast. I had a picture of it but I'm not finding it. I just messaged him to tell him to come over here.

I've seen their stuff. It's very good looking quality. Just expensive and i didn't really want a pillar or column mounted gauge.

My MAF was acting up intermittently too. Cleaned it and got rid of the K&N. No issues.

No. Please speak up. You've had several tuned Tundras so I value your experience with this platform. I would like to hear what you have to say.

I doubt the speed shop has an inability to tune LTHs properly but with so many variable I wouldn't know where to look. I know Holdener did a series of videos on LTH and Intakes; for SC Intakes had the biggest impact on performance. LTH showed some gains but they were fairly small on a $/HP. Stock system seems to be fairly "hi flow".

That's what I remember from his test too. Lower boost but same or more power. I'll have to dig up the video if I can find it may have been on a turbo though so not apples to apples.

So how does one gain with the headers? I got headers way before the sc kit, as I wasn't sure if there was ever going to be a kit for the 2020+ .

It would seem to be that to get the most benefit you need to have good headers which you do, and then better flowing midpipes than stock as well as a free flowing catback. Lastly sounds like you need someone to tune it who knows how to properly set up the cam timing to optimize everything. I’ve read the peak gain isn't that huge but the gains are better other places throughout the curve with headers.

Do you know if any of them spoke about what's considered optimized set up? I don't have social media so I don't know how to check those info, I think by Spring I'm going to re-do the x pipe and do 3" after while utilizing stock TRD mufflers.

And next up I guess is the tune, who would be someone who can optimize the cam timing via HPtuner?

Optimal exhaust wise I would think would be to get rid of the stock midpipes that neck down to 2” diameter inside. I know the one guy who just finished up his Prospeed build has ARH headers, midpipes with high flow cats, and just a regular TRD dual exhaust and he made 700+ hp and torque on 14.7psi with a Harrop. Fully built engine on E85 I believe. Tuner wise, I personally don’t really know anything about any tuners that have claimed to gain consistent power on LTs other than Prospeed and DAP.

Makes sense, I have 3 at collector, then fab factory cats to fit, it's 3" until after x pipe and meet up with stock TRD pipes.

Is there someone at prospeed that I can reach out to? I've email their general address few times without any replies.

hey fellas. sorry for the delay.. working and got sidetracked for like...um... a day.o_O

Yeah, the ol girl was a beast. I was tapped out max power without building a block and I just don't have the money for that. I considered another just because I know EVERYTHING about the damn trucks. lol. But I've completely built 2 SC trucks from bone stock and had a 3rd n/a before those.

I literally JUST got my truck to where I know it was fully optimized. I feel very safe saying I was at 600whp and likely in low 12s at the very slowest. even have a brand new Daggy that would've shown me. Just didn't have time to use it.

I did feel like it was kinda useless power though. I had to take it easy or it would get loose in any kind of rain... found myself just puttering from light to light getting passed by everyone knowing it was probably the quickest thing around that could hop a curb.

The worst thing is that it really shouldn't have been totaled. It was literally a freak accident with rain (ie:fresh water) that locked the engine. Insurance just totaled everything around without even giving it a chance. If you made a claim in my area code they were like, stamping totaled left and right without even looking at it. ... wouldn't even let me try to buy it back. I guess national disaster declaration changes stuff like that...

Oh well. I'm always happy to help.
Feel free to message me here or email me 4firemandan@gmail.com

I'll attach a pic of "our dearly departed" and my new pride and joy.
It's a 97 F250 4x4 with the 460. Y'all think Tundras get bad mileage! This make them look like economy cars.

Future plans to do a turbo LS swap. I'd keep it Ford but it's just stupid expensive and strangely more difficult.

That should get me into the low 20s mpg(babying it obviously) and probably 600hp conservatively depending on how stupid I want to get.

Sure do miss that Tundra look though...

That’s sad to hear about the situation. How did insurance handle the aftermarket engine work done? Was it covered or did you lose it all?

    Advice / opinions ?

After test driving the new Tundra TRD PRO, experiencing far less power, a surprisingly bouncier-sloppy ride quality, and ending up with essentially the same MPG when driven as it should be driven, I am 100% keeping my consistently dependable Plat. SC CM Tundra!

I recently had my local shop remove the bully dog and installed an HP Tune specifically for my wheel and tire set up. The new tune Seems to shift a bit better…But could just be me justifying the expense.

Next on my list is an exhaust/header/pulley upgrade, but after “attempting” to read all of the above posts- it seems like the result may be only a louder sounding truck that doesn’t perform any better than it did pre next level mods? A lot of You have actually gone down this rabbit hole and seen the result - Is anything actually definitive, truly producing improvements both in sound and power, or is this next step just a waste of time and money?

Do exhaust first, then pulley, then other supporting mods. Save headers for last.

I really need to revisit my exhaust setup. I feel like I'm losing a little power. I've got headers going into no cats, but resonators in their place, then going into a BAM 8" exhaust. I either need to have Keith make me a custom setup or go another custom route.

How's the exhaust smell w/o cats? When I first put LTH on the Taco I also did no cat mid pipes w/resonators in their place. It was louder than I wanted, and smelled like...ass tbh. I put the mid pipe w/secondary cats back on because of it

Smells horrible.. But I'm not willing to sacrifice the power for the smell. And don't want to spend more money on high flow cats.
