Im not sure if I can see all the size options on the pull down menu but looks like the 4” is OD and is only 3.75” ID. That would barely be worth swapping in and getting retuned.

I did notice this, but I think all of the tubes are referred to by OD. I measured my stock tube at the MAF and it’s roughly 3.5” OD. So if this is 4” OD, it’s an improvement.

Is it possible to only order the Magnuson intake?

Ah ok, I was assuming the stock intake was 3.5” ID

I was good with Stage1 then 1 day, I woke up and had the craving for bigger injectors, smaller pulley and Long Tubes lol. Plus I didn’t want to have to move my compressor to make room for a bigger intake. You know, a must have lol

I think it'd be close enough to not need a retune either. Smoother air would see slight benefit I'm sure.

Ok, so I just measured it more precisely with a flexible fabric tape measure instead of eyeballing a regular rigid tape measure. I measured the circumference and it is exactly 12” OD circumference which comes out to 3.8” OD. So that might make it 3.5” ID depending on the wall thickness, but not positive. In this case, this air straightener piece would be .25” larger. Is that enough to fix the voltage ceiling issue….tough call? It could also be worth asking if they will custom make one 4” ID, maybe it’s no big deal for them to do that.

Im thinking either way it should maybe be rescaled in the tune for the MAF, since on my current tune above a certain RPM my tune is likely just guessing since it’s off the map with MAF voltage for him to tune it more precisely. I don’t want to have more air than it’s tuned for and then risk running lean. I think he figured just tune it rich so it won’t be a problem, but its probably not optimal as it currently is running without a proper MAF reading beyond a certain RPM.

Oh sweet! Would you mind taking some pics of it for us, including the actual dimensions and such? I take it you ordered the 4”?

I see they offer the same tubing in 5” as well. but without the MAF mount. They also sell 5”x4” silicone receiving couplings. For this reason I bet they could just weld the MAF mount on a 5” tube no problem if requested. I’ll have to find out.

Edit: Nevermind I think I found it in 5” OD 4.75” ID! This is the one without the straightener inside. I didn’t Check yet if they offer the same size with the straightener. https://performancemrp.com/i-304979...ss-air-flow-housing.html?ref=category:1389196

Puts you you at 5.5 if you are starting with a 3.5. Sorry 5.25
I ordered the 4.5 OD with 6 inch length. I found it via Google but the option doesn't pop up on the site even when I plug in the part number. Will snap pictures later. I also ordered a 4inch segment without the MAF.

I'm looking to go from a 6inch ID shorty dry aFe filter + 6inch to 4.5inch filter adapter >> 4.5inch intake w/MAF + "air straightener" (sounds gimmicky) >> reduced from 4.5 to 4 inch and a joiner + 19mm no weld vacuum >> reduced from 4 inch to 3.25 with a hump connector to the 84mm RCF TB. The Stillen airbox hole is offset and the hump connect gives it enough relief (I hope).

Well guess I'll add this to the list of things to do when adding the smaller pulley from @snivilous lol. Then go get a retune one and done

I found it, must have been looking in the wrong spot before. That’s the one I’d get as well. I don’t think I’d do the 5”, that sounds like it would be more cumbersome and difficult to get installed properly and is also unnecessarily large. https://performancemrp.com/i-304979...s-air-flow-housing-with-air-straightener.html

Yes it is here you may be able to custom order the 4.5 inch:

If you go with the Stillen I think the hole is 6 or 6.5 inches.

I disagree. A 1.5x diameter increase(5.25") is an area increase of 2.25x. And logically if you have more overhead for airflow then the tune will be less precise since you won't be able to access a certain chunk of the MAF voltage, and since there's a finite number of voltages that can be tuned you're effectively going from say 20 tuning positions to now 16. Not to say a 5.25" tube wouldn't work, but my point is that that seems absolutely huge and unneeded. I think a 4.5" tube would be better and that will be able to handle 65% more airflow than your current setup. Food for thought.

I don't remember writing this lol.

So parts list needed. 4.5"OD pipe by 6"L
Silicone coupler from box to pipe
Silicone coupler from pipe to TB
Rubber grommet for small vacuum hose

I think that 4.5” MAF tube will be perfect for me. Then get (2) 4.5” x 3.5” silicone reducers. And go from the ~3.5” stock airbox to the 4.5” tube, and then in my case with the stock Throttle body use another reducer to go from 4.5” tube to ~3.5” on the Throttle body. From there, all that has to be done is drill one hole in the tube for the vacuum line and slap some RTV on a grommet and then Boom, done.

I’ll just have to pair this with an SABM while I’m at it.

Someone school me on why the air straightener isn't snake oil. I've never heard of it before, boosted for 6 years prior with the Taco and no one mentioned it once over in taco world
