I've been wanting to get into 3 Gun or IDPA. Not a big fan of our local club though. Driving over an hour one way to another club is tough to justify.

Yeah, it’s helps if it’s at least somewhat convenient. Either of those looks like a blast tho...

I like handguns, but am more of a rifle guy. Practical precision rifle matches, local level mostly.

Like this, but less Pro. Haha.

Nice! I love long range stuff. The Woman wants to build a precision rifle as a "couple's bonding project". :D

I did a Poker Rally for a couple years down near Drayton Valley. Targets from 100yd out to 1200yds. The first year, I borrowed a generous fellow's PGW Coyote .308 with a Nightforce optic. Made a cold bore, first shot hit on the 1200yd gong, which is my best shot to date. The other years I shot my Remington 700 7mm Rem Mag hunting rifle that I loaded target loads with. No problem out to 700, but beyond that I struggled with my 3-9x40mm optic.

She wants to build a precision rifle together?? You may just have a keeper there Buds! Haha.

Yeah. It’s pretty addictive! And those PGWs are dead sexy. :)

Yup. I have more guns than I have optics. Although a few more now than when I took that picture.

A little help. New to bolt action. Looking to buy a remington 700 magpul in 308. Guy selling says it new. What are some thing to look for? The barrel is supposedly cerakoted with 5r rifling. Can you tell if it’s just another rem 700 model with just the magpul stock put on it? I just dont wanna de duped.

    https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/the-truth-about-barrel-length-muzzle-velocity-and-accuracy/

Also understand that adding a suppressor increases velocity. So a 12.5 inch 308 or 6.5 suppressed is just as accurate as a longer barrel. Once people actually do the research and unlearn the internet opinions, this rifle setup appeals to a lot of different scenarios for different people with different state laws or needs from a rifle.

    Here is more factual data.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.th...lications-short-barreled-precision-rifle/amp/

Additionally, this setup is a pistol. By being built as a pistol with a brace deemed legal by the ATF, it allows the end user to cross state lines, it allows the pistol to be legal in many states a short barreled rifle would not be, you do not have to pay a $200 tax stamp for a registered SBR, you can use several different magazines to comply with state regulations and it is threaded meaning they know the person buying this gun isn’t concerned with blast or noise because it will have a suppressor more than likely.

So take a 308 chop it down to 12.5 reduce its power increase muzzle noise
and create a super nova flash with unburdened powder . Yeah I’m out. Also before my boating accident I had a 300black out . same velocity none of the drawbacks. Unfortunately it and all the others are in the bottom of the river.

This is true, my 16.25" M14 is very accurate with the suppressor attached.

Just teasing ya. I’m in a similar predicament most of the time. I think it’s pretty common really. Especially if a guy is particular about his aiming systems. :)

The Cerakote on the action and barrel will be the big difference between the Magpul 700 and other ones. Functionally and mechanically, it's just a Remington 700 dropped that's been Cerakoted and dropped in a fancy stock.

    Who doesn't love guns!?

Are you locked into the .308 caliber?
I’d play with an ar-10 platform semi auto with that.

If you’re looking for a long range hunter or precision I’d suggest 300 win mag. Flies a little flatter than the .308.

if it’s just a “for fun” deer rifle, then enjoy.

I don't think it's offered in the Magpul edition but 6.5 Creedmoor is another option for long range. It's the new hotness for long range stuff. It's what I'll be using when I build my long range gun.

Not locked in but seems you can get 308 just anywhere. Been hearing alot about the 6.5 creedmore. This is more just for fun, no hunting.

    Tip of the day:

16oz of 91%+ Isopropyl Alcohol + 4oz of liquid lanolin oil = 20oz of case lube.

    Total cost: $26 CAD.

Compare with RCBS Case Lube from Cabelas which is 2oz for $8.99 CAD.

Great tip! I’ll give that a try this summer.

I just started using spray case lubes a couple of years ago. Between them and a tumbler, I hate full length sizing way less now...

I was on Lake Michigan on a hunting trip when the wind picked up out of nowhere. I dove overboard to save all of mine but all I saved was my beer due to the coozie it was in.

I got a new .22 pistola Sunday night. Just need to clean the barrell and stuff some subsonic's in the magazine. It's going to beat the lell out of dispatching of coons, opossum's and snakes with a shovel. Less splinters...LOL

I've got a 22/45 also. They are awesome. You may have trouble cycling subs out of that though. CCI standard velocity runs good and is pretty quite.
