These are the same boys that put their lives on the line defending the country they love. This is not a dispute about chivalry. A man should always treat women with respect but when it comes to combat, should they stop the fight if a woman is shooting at them with a rifle?

Train like you fight. Actual combat is not the time you want to learn that you're not up to snuff.

I wasn t trying to start a debate or argument. This thread was put under the Military section because Vets are more likely to understand the current PC nature if the military. There has been a massive push the last few years for the military to embrace "gender equality", which sounds all fine and dandy but the issue is that women already have MUCH lower physical standards than the men. When civilians, politicians and feminists push for women to be put into the ground combat element, they may mean well but they seriously jeopardizing our effectiveness. Our job is to kill as brutally and efficiently as possible. That's it.
The military is not the JV football squad or the Boy Scouts. Especially the Marine Corps. If you put on the uniform, you better take your job seriously because lives depend on it. Our enemies will show you no chivalry.

I do agree that it wasn't a fair fight. That's kind of my point though. Women are amazing and are capable of incredible things, but I don't think combat is one of those.
Honestly, what would be worse for the organization, the guy going all out like he did and knocking her out, or going easy on her?

I feel like I need to respond to this. I know this wasn't meant to be a debate (if I wanted that I would be on facebook lol) but this is my take on the video and the comments that have been made. In my opinion as a female that was in a male dominated field for several years, I knew that I better be able to hold my own shit. If I couldn't then I needed to find another career. I didn't expect nor did I want any preferential treatment because of my gender. I COMPLETELY agree with you that women have much lower physical strengths than men; that's just nature. The push to put women into ground combat, I believe, is a problem. HOWEVER, there are also some men I could probably say shouldn't be in the military to because their physical standards are much lower than mine! Now, if I decide to enlist and put on that uniform, then yes, I would take the job seriously; that's a given. I would have to believe that the women that have done this do take it seriously, because their lives as well as their fellow compadres lives are also on the line. You are right this is not about chilvalry at all. It's about defending the U.S. and getting back home to your family. Bullets don't have a name and enemies will exploit whatever weak link they can to get an advantage. I may be able to give a man a run for his money but I do believe, in the end, you may get the best of me.....but I'm not going down without a fight.

We are in total agreement. If that was some runt guy, then the same thing should have happened. I really don't want this to be a "women shouldn't be in the military" debate.

This guy was in a "lose lose" situation. By kicking her butt, he's a brute and should be ashamed (according to some). If he loses, he's a wuss (sp?) The female Marine now knows in real combat when faced with the a big, and stronger male opponent, she needs to have her side arm ready and use it.

I agree. I was a defensive tactics instructors for years, and unfortunately, you have milliseconds to decide if you are going to use your weapon and by that time, you are already on the ground. I consider myself pretty strong but a man's size and weight can be overwhelming.

Yup, went through this in high school. I had to wrestle a girl...and a cute girl at that. If I won, I didn't really win. If I lost, I would have had to quit the team. If I got a boner, I would have had to transfer schools. It's not easy thinking about baseball while you're wrastling.

I was in military when this coed pc started. The military has different physical standards for men and women. Im not agaisnt women in the military, but i am agaisnt women in front line units if they dont meet the same standards that set up for males. If you can do everything thats required then welcome. If not there are still plenty of jobs that are just as important. Just my 2 cents. :infantry:

Agreed: Can she fight after taking an a$$ whooping? Can she carry her fellow injured Marines from a Humvee, building or up steep terrain? Has she earned the respect from her fellow Marines? If yes then great. Gender equality at it's finest. Bravo Zulu USMC

The same thing typically happens when a big guy boxes or fights a little guy. There will always be someone out there that can kick your ass. With that said, one needs to know what it feels like to get your ass kicked if fighting may be in the job description. Great learning experience.

I believe there should be a set standard that is not influenced by anything including gender, class, color, or condition.
When it comes to forming a team only the best of the best shall be chosen, any decision otherwise will effect the ability to win. The object of fighting is to win. If you want a team of warriors you need to get warriors. I'm good with female warriors, male warriors, little warriors, big warriors, black, white, purple warriors, doesn't matter, but they should all have met the same standards, however high or low.

    Just my .02

It was actually a really big deal, she was the first female in our district to wrestle and it was her first match. Big controversy whether girls should be allowed to wrestle with boys. She was on the news before the match so half her school was there, place was completely packed. I pinned her in like 30 seconds. Never even gave the boner a chance. But I got a lot of shit for "beating up on a girl". But it would have been much worse if I lost or the boner happened. No transferring for me. :D

Shit son, if they wanna allow both sexes to do something they need ONE set of standards. If ya can't do it, ya can't do it. Many men can't pass those military PT tests either yet. A lot of stuff woman can do that men can't. If men can't do it then they aren't eligible for typically woman dominance jobs. Simple as that.

Why don't they have them lined up and hit their groin area with a baseball bat see who's still standing. That would be an important asset in a hand-to-hand combat. Yay, one standard. :D

Good for her for taking the hit and getting back up, and good for him not "attacking" her any differently than he would have anybody else. The thing is, every service member enlisted voluntarily, knowing what they were getting in to. There is place for the "vagina card" in any branch of service, definitely no place for anyone taking it easy on someone bc of their gender.

We were once in the field for a training exercise and I had a female airman ask me if she could go inside to use the latrine. I told her, "no, you can go "pop a squat" like the rest of us" and she had the nerve to go complain to my leadership. Then, I get pulled aside and talked to about my sensitivity. Man, that really chapped my ass.

Yeah, I felt the wrath a few years ago because I tried to make the females in a Corporals Course I was teaching be scored the same as the male counterparts to see who won honor graduate.
