New to the Tundra club and loving it. 2023 Limited Hybrid. Found some slightly used black TRD wheels and want to put bigger tires. Want to go with 285/60/20's and want something that isn't too aggressive to keep road noise down and maintain decent MPG/power because its my daily driver. Deciding between these tires:

    Falken wildpeak trail
    BFGoodrich KO2
    Continental terrain contact

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated! Tundra.jpg Wheels.jpg

I had continental terrain contact on a 2013 Honda Ridgeline. Very good tires on road. Quiet, super grippy, did well in rain, lasted 45k miles with half tread remaining.
But... terrible in mud and snow. I mean terrible. They are basically a street tire with a bit more aggressive look and an "A/T" label.
I liked them so much that I seriously considered them to replace the Falken AT3WA (note the A) OE crappy tundra tires. Then my memory of terrible snow performance and getting stuck in a simple mud puddle came back and I went a different direction.
    Hope this helps.

I can highly recommend the Falkin Wild peaks A/T. Just put them on a few weeks ago and they are great. Low noise and plenty of traction. They ride as good as the stock Michelins. Mine have the same ratings as the factory tires. Stay away from E rated tires unless you don't care about your ride.TCDIx6TKyhyMo6OpGTWxS0zt-WJo9M23HW0mtSrm_6430c62f5cf07393d8a5d4f720284e828f0b5215.jpg

Hi, Ruger19. I’m considering purchasing the same size Falken Wildpeak AT/3W tires for my truck when it arrives. They’re 10 lbs heavier than the stock Michelins and I’m wondering if you’re noticing much of a difference in performance or handling (i.e., can you notice the truck takes more effort to move given the additional weight)? Thanks.

RayD. They seem to handle fine with no hesitation. I got the stock size 265 70 18 with the same rating. The tread width is an inch or so wider. Looks wise they appear larger overall. Traction is great, snow, and general off-road use is superior to the stock trail tires. My first Falken's. Was a BFG KO2 fan but anything in my size range was E rated. I made that mistake with my Gen 2, they beat the crap out of me for 40K miles till I sold it.

I don't mean to disagree with the vote to the Wildpeak AT/3W. A lot of people like them. But...look on tire rack, their off road prowess brings poorer rain performance. And you can see this visually as they don't have a straight channel for water to get out of the way of the tread blocks. It seems that on road and off road performance are somewhat mutually exclusive. Just saying

Hi Paul. I've had the opportunity to drive in the snow, rain, ice and dirt in the past few weeks. (Northern Arizona). I'm good with the performance thus fair. There are always a few negatives with most AT tires in comparison to other brands. I'm one of the folks who like them.

They are a little noisy, especially on some road surfaces, which sucks. The smoother the road, the louder and whinier. Mpg dropped a couple, assuming the size difference more than the brand. Haven’t been in snow, but drove 4 hours in the rain today and they were good. They feel great on the road, firm and stable, and absorbs bumps well.

Anyone else read that falken silently changed the silica content in the wildpeak at3w a year or two ago? Anyone have a set from a few years ago and notice performance differences with a new set?

What's a set of TRD PRO (new take off) wheels and tires worth? Dealer is offering a credit, but not sure if I should take it or take the wheels.

What tires are you running on your truck? I want to run the same size but having a hard time choosing between a few options:

    Nitto Ridge Grapplers
    Falken WildPeak A/T3W
    BFG KO2

I wish the Falken WildPeak Trail came in this size...

Great looking Rig. How much poke are you getting with the +18 offset?

Im also looking at the Icon Stage 2 lift. How’s the ride quality? I know it utilizes the stock springs. Thanks ahead!

~1" out the fenders with this setup. TRD PRO fender flares are inbound to help cover the leftover poke. The Icon kit was expensive and the ride quality was drastically improved compared to stock, i think you'll be happy if you pull the trigger.

We have seen these go for anything from $1500 on the extremely low end to $4000 on the open market.

Retail price (before deep discounts) of each wheel is like $750 so you can do the calculations from there and see if what they are giving you is acceptable to you.

I can't say as they all cost money haha! It's more of a personal preference and how deep down the rabbit money hole you wanna go.

RE: 17x8.5 +25 offset Method MR305 with 315/70R17 Goodyear Territory MT

So I did flex the suspension. Front wheel well felt and a bit of plastic needed to be trimmed. In the end, now the clearance up front, at worst, is 1/8 inch and 1/4 at the back (see pictures).

Also installed some OE style fender flares to get rid of the poke and protect the paint (Rough Country Sport style flares).

PS: also put some flush Method center caps with Toyota heritage racing stripes. Was kind of not sure at first, but it is growing on me.

And almost forgot to mention, waiting for the King suspension to arrive in March. Too long of a wait.
