Mine came with Geolander Load Es. I think they all are Load E LT 265/60/20 tires. They are 52 lbs each. It seems Toyota wants LT class Load E tires on this truck. You could go to P 275/60/20 but the Michelins, BF Goodrich, and Geolanders I just reviewed on Tire Rack are all LT class Load E tires in the 265/60/20 and the 285/60/20 sizes. It must be the sidewall ratio in those sizes.

Again, plenty of options for P class Load D rated tires in other sizes if you want a lighter tire. The Michelin Defender P 275/60/20 is 42 lbs compared to the LT 265/60/20 at 50 lbs and the LT 285/60/20 at 54 lbs. The Geolanders it came with stock are 52 lbs, so weight wise we're talking about going up 2 lbs vs going down 12 lbs.

I suspect a larger tire in a P rated weigh will improve fuel mileage.

It's not all about the weight of the tire, some MPG loss is due to going wider and creating more roll resistance. If a person wants to go a little taller, but not much wider, consider a 65 aspect ratio instead of a 60. The example below is also NOT "E" rated so you don't have all that extra weight and you get a A/T tire. It is comparable (Load Index/Range, Ply rating and Carrying Capacity) in every way to the Stock size tire on Platinum - whether it is the Yokohama Geolander X-CV or Bridgestone Dueler H/T - 685 so that is no issue. At 47 lbs these are only 9 lbs heavier. Personally, this is the option I plan on going with since I will NOT be doing any "off roading": 1.5" taller, .5" wider and only 9 lbs heavier with an aggressive look. Fits my need.............book it Dano.

That weight for the geolander doesn't seem right, did you weight the stock tires? Usually OEM tires are no where near the same in design, materials and weight of what you see for the same "tire" for sale on a website. OEM tires are way lighter, less tread depth, less aggressive and a different compound.

I put 285/65R20 Toyo Open Country AT3's on a couple of weeks ago. I have a stock Platinum with AVS/Air for over a year with 17,000 miles. So far I've noticed a 2 mpg drop and my speedometer is displaying 2-4 mph slower than my phone's GPS. You will feel the weight difference and E rate tires will give you a stiffer ride in the city. On the highway, it rides fine but the tires are a little louder. No rubbing with mud flaps.

agreed, Toyota doesnt use Load E on platinum trims. Those are the lightest tires on the market, lol.

I was thinking of 275/60R20s to stay with either a P or SL rated tire.

But I also found these that may still be possible to get even though they're discontinued... NITTO TERRA GRAPPLER G2 275/65R20 116S SL

Any experiences with the Terra Grappler G2s?

Also, they are highly rated on DT. Why would Nitto discontinue this tire?

I think they replaced them with those Recon tires as they said those are the next gen. I question the road manners of those especially when they age. Not sure if anyone is running them for any time yet.

the size and weight is interesting though, but I don't want BFG KO2 worn levels of noise anymore. When my KOs wore down a little they were really loud, louder than my ST MAXX

@DexterL how are the Toyos doing on your truck? Seeing that they make a D rated 35x12.50x18, I might end up going that route.

I think the 33”s look good on these trucks, just too much weight and stiff ride to go any more for my tastes.

just that little extra over stock looks much better imo

I’ve been a BFG customer for several years, and personally I love the look of the BFG tires, they have performed very well throughout four seasons. However, I agree regarding road noise once surpassing 50k. I’ve generally gotten 65k+ miles out of my BFG.

After reading several forums, I opted to try the Toyo OC III for my 23 WCP Hybrid Limited CM.

I’ve only had for a month, so I can’t comment on longevity or ware noise but, I have tested recently in snow and they have responded very well so far. Highway noise is a bit louder than stock but doesn’t bother me, minimal. With that said, I only had the stock tires for 17miles prior to Toyo install, so I’m not sure the noise is from the tires or maybe from the mirrors some have mentioned within these forums.

I also have EGR window visors, which may have enhanced road noise at highway speed.

I can’t comment on overall weight as that wasn’t a concern for me personally. The MPG maybe have dipped some but the motor is still getting broken in. Currently, the gauge is registering around 15MPG but I haven’t done the actual math between fill-ups. Again not a priority for me being a truck owner, especially coming from the thirsty iforce-V8.

    Toyo 285/65/20
    RC level 1.75”
Borla 1” spacer ( planning to add PRO flares to help with road spray - stock mud flaps don’t do much with this set up)

I put a set of Falken Wildpeak AT3W LT285/65 R20 (These are the same diameter as 35 x 12.50 x 20 (34.6") just narrower 11.2 vs 12.50). on stock TRD wheels with with OR suspension and have no rub at full lock with no articulation. Looks like would only need to remove mud flaps to get zero rub.

Am getting Icon stage 7 lift installed tomorrow.

    Lots of stuff!
Makes the truck look proper! I have my 295/60/R20 Toyos ordered and some flowformed wheels in 20x8.5 +15. Should have all that installed next week. Going to use the original TPMS from my tiny little 18" wheels :).

Yeah I don't believe they use load E on any trims. A lot of people are getting mixed up since so many of these tires that are OEM issued also come in load E at the same size. Also, if you see a circle with an "E" and a number by it that does not mean its an E rated tire. Its a Euro certification stamp along with a country origination number. I have seen a couple posters on this forum state their TRD Pro comes with E rated tires and thats just not true unless the dealership swapped them out before sale.
