I personally like the idea of having my stock sr5 wheels powder coated. How much does that cost as I’ve never done it before. And I’m sure the cost will vary by area but would give me an idea if it’s worth it or just order new wheels

I have only worked with 2 places
Fullblown Coatings - 380 for four wheels if its a color they stock - I think it was 420 to order color in
Specialty Finishes- 340 powder coated four wheels for color in stock
thats just sandblasting/bead blasting (whatever they do) and powder coating.
probably another 300 to 500 depending if you need them to put your truck on jacks and leave it there for 3 days or more while they remove powder and put tires back on rebalance etc.

I think the dealer told me 800 to drop off and have it done but I didn't use them.

Is it worth it. it was to me, even for 800 because thats the look I wanted. probably not if your looking to upgrade to wheels later. You could do what I did. I bought a used pair with 300 miles on tires then sold the tires. Then powder coated the wheels. now ill sell my tires and wheels locally that came on my vehicle. that way I didn't have to leave my truck on jacks. It should work out only costing me at most around 400 if not less depending on what I sell my tires/wheels for. Eventually it should be pretty easy to find a set of factory wheels with all the aftermarket wheels people put on, but they are still a little slim pickings compared to what im sure the future will be, Unless you want 20-in factory wheels. there are quite a few more available locally here in salt lake.

Thank you everyone for all the pics! Helped me convince myself to pull the trigger on a 2” leveling kit :)

Your spec - SR5 Crew in MG with those wheels is my dream spec. Good thing you're in New York and I'm in Tennessee so we won't have to pass each other as twins everyday. Haha.

Those wheels looks great powder coated! It's awesome that Toyota finally made a 'plain jane' stock SR5 wheel that looks okay.

So it looks like the difference in rotation size between the stock 265/70/18 size and your 285/75/18 is 6.8%, meaning an almost difference of 5mph in the speedometer reading 65mph and your actual speed being almost 70mph. This is a possibly silly question but do you just keep that mental 5mph difference or more in your head when you look at how fast the truck says it is going on the speedometer?

I agree with your math. I have had larger tires for 14 years now. Either 35s or 33s. I think about it when being a little naughty on the freeway. Never think about it under 45. And always think about it when I see a digital speed sign. It’s become habit. Had to think about when I think about it. Thx for asking

Check out cornfedsuspension.com. They create a similar 2/1 lift kit with black UHMW spacers with a preload spacer. They are local to me and have made these types of spacers for decades on 4Runners. I’m sure they won’t disappoint.

I’m new to trucks and lifts so excuse my question if it’s dumb.

mom planning to get a lift done tomorrow, it’s out of town for me. About 3.5 hours away. The local Toyota dealership can’t squeeze me in after I get the lift done. Would it be bad if I drove 200-250 miles after a spacer lift, with preload spacer on the bottom (2” front, 1” rear) without getting an alignment done?

Love this, I'm looking at doing the same, identical actually, local shop has the coopers 25% off right now. These rims, appear to be the same spec as yours? How is the ride, anything you don't like about this combo?

E rated tires definitely made the ride a little stiffer. Didn’t rub unless was really articulated and almost full lock, Lost about 1.5 mpg. otherwise great setup and pleased with the tires performance and how quiet they are. Only off-roading they’ve seen is aired down beach driving. Worked really well in the loose stuff at 20 psi.

Just installed a pro comp coilover kit seems to have smoothed out all the harshness the 10 ply tires added as well.

Thanks, appreciate it. I’m going to drive myself insane debating on 17’s vs 18’s!

so I ordered some fuel rebel 6's 18" with +20 offset and some Cooper MT evolution 295/70/18's..they arrived and I'm at the tire shop now getting them installed. The installation guy told me before he installs them he wants me to be aware of potential rubbing since the truck is at stock height. Does he know what he is talking about? I'm a little nervous now because I thought I would be in the clear with this size but he is making me second guess my selection. What do you think?

From what I have read I think 295s and that offset may in fact rub due to the width

only one way to find out, throw then on and see

Yup…on stock height with stock wheels (+60 or +55 offset) they won’t rub

However with that aftermarket wheel which has that +20 offset he might be right due to the width.

can’t tell you how much though

Well everything installed just fine. There is some rubbing on the liner in the front. The installer told me to get a heat gun and reform the liner. Or poke holes in it and find something to zip tie it to. But he said it should be fine to drive for now. I absolutely love the look of bronze on white and according to him these are the last fuel rebel 6’s in bronze left in the country …until they manufacture more of course but they are super back ordered apparently. I also love the aggressive look of the tires. But the road noise is definitely noticeable. Also the truck is more sluggish for sure. But I don’t mind dealing with that in exchange for some nicer shoes.

This is beautiful…glad it worked out.

The front liner is just/mostly fabric so easily pushed out of the way, tied back, etc…but you are looking good

I'm going with the KMC KM535 Grenade wheels. 18x8.5 +35 offset with BFG K02's. Rough country level. I'm trying to determine what tire size without rubbing but a bit taller than stock to fill the wheel arch. Any thoughts?

Stock 265/60/R20 32.5" diameter 10.4" wide for reference
KO2 275/70 @ 33.2" diameter 10.8" wide (probably the safest about an inch taller and similar width to stock)
KO2 305/65 @ 33.6" diameter 12" wide (about an inch taller but 2" wider) this is my preference but I haven't seen anyone running a 305

    Thanks for the help

First .. great wheel choice! Glad to see others going a route other than Fuel/Method lol. The KMCs were my second choice.

Second .. I feel because you are sticking with a higher offset keeping the wheel more into the opening that you'll have less rubbing concern especially with being under 34" tire. I'm on 285/65/20 with +18 offset and I only run at full lock when suspension compresses for comparison. I haven't seen any 305s out there either.

Thanks! I know the 275's will be fine and probably allow me to run mud flaps which is a positive. I think the 305's would be fine but not sure. I saw a guy put 295/60's on the stock wheels which is about 33.9" dia and 11.6" wide. The 305's would be a hair less tall and just a hair wider. He didn't have level and had zero rubbing. and when westcott put a 35x12.5/20 on the stock wheel they had to run a 3mm spacer. So you have a taller, wider wheel and small spacer. so my logic is that the 305 is shorter and not as wide...

Anyone got the 17” TRD PRO rims on a 22? First I’m wondering if they will fit the calipers and second wondering how they look?!?09D8CAB6-AD0D-427F-BE09-02E13667488C.jpg

Thanks, I actually saw that in one of his YouTube videos but was wondering if anyone has actually ran them and had any issues since he said they were close in the video.

I found some sets of 18s in those online but the websites don’t seem legit so I wouldn’t trust ordering from them. If Toyota made 18s in those I think they’d sell a bunch of them!!!
