GEN 3 (2022+) Wheels and Tires Photo thread

New member and I tried to go over the whole thread but at 171 pages, forgive me.

I have a '24 limited TRD off-road and I've spent weeks researching here, on facebook, and what's available locally. I'm looking to go either 17" or 18" biggest size possible without any lift or trimming.

For 17"s: 295/70r17 or 285/75r17
for 18"s: 275/70r18 or 295/70r18 (mixed info on rubbing, some say do, some say they dont')

wheel is probably +20 to +30 offset.

For tires, I've researched and any of the following are good:
Toyo
Nitto
BFG KO2
Duratrac

 

This is a gorgeous setup man! I can't find any posts of trucks running the SBs. Is there a particular reason you went with the SB over the XT, XTR, PCD PM2s, etc?

I'm actually sitting on a set of bronze TE37XT 18x9 et0 while waiting for the TRD lift kit to arrive, but after seeing the other versions, I'm starting to have second thoughts. I also am unsure if I want that much poke either.

 

Anybody running these Tacoma TRD Pro wheels on a tundra?

Toyota (PTR56-35242-F1)

 

Following. Bolt pattern and center hub bore seems to be the same as tundra. I am in the market for a new set of rim for winter tires. Please keep me posted.

 

update. A post from 4Gen Tacoma forum confirmed that 2022+ tundra wheel fits on 2024 tacoma.

 

Thanks! I went with these, specifically because they had a more positive offset. I don’t recall the PM2 being available when I ordered these (I had them a year before the truck lol), I might have gone that route. But the offset of the SB’s is in that sweet spot of how much poke I wanted.

I think with your lift kit, your wheels and offset is gonna look sick!! I’m sure you’ll be happy either way!

2024 1794 ed., completely stock with no lift.
Finally got my set up completed, and wanted to post my results.
FN Wheels, Five Stars - 17" (25 mm offset)
Cooper Discoverer A/T3 4S, P285/70 R17s
I wanted to maintain OEM circumference, be as light as possible, but strong enough to tow with, and above all I wanted MORE SIDEWALL. I live off some poorly maintained country roads and do a fair amount of off-roading. The stock 60 profile tires are not good for either.



Here's Tire Comparison for stock/OEM compared to what I have now. >25% more sidewall(!!!) while no real change in acceleration/braking performance and speedo/mileage readings are basically identical.

Overall, I really couldn't be happier with the look and ride characteristics with this set up. I really like this sort "just enough" poke, and running over rough pavement now and even bumps on the highway is just a different world. I didn't really know how bad it was until I got this.
Thanks to everyone else posting on here as I really got a lot of help in picking what I wanted. And thanks for FN Wheels for offering a really nice choice for someone who needs some extra rubber. If anyone was curious, I got exactly 24.6 pounds each per wheel for my Five Stars (bathroom scale), which is very light compared to what's out there, and the Coopers are 46 pounds each per Tiresize (didn't weigh them myself).

 

Hey ^ looks great! Great strategy. And the beefy tires with a lil poke just looks so much better than stock.

this looks great! Didn’t know about corned. Been debating about the RC spacer but I keep reading lots of cons.

 

Also. I did some measurements so others would know the difference front to back. I feel this is the "level" I'm looking for. I cant say enough good things about David from Cornfed Suspension.

Has anyone tried running pizza cutters on their 3rd gen? 255/80 r17.

 

Hi are you having any rubbing issues with this set up? I’m look to get some Falken at4w’s in this size with similar rims. I haven’t be able to get an answer about the rubbing issue.

 

Well , I got tired of waiting for the TRD kit to be released so I installed my wheels and tires today .

RTX Patton 18x9 +10 with Toyo 295/70/18’s

No Lift , has some slight rub on inner section of mudguard . Heat gun and some remoulding will cure it .





ninja edit : Heat gun didn’t work out so I trimmed the guards and pinned back the felt liners . No rub

 

Looks great. Can you tell me more about your bug guard. Maybe a link to where to get it and how does it install?

 

Thanks !! It’s the Toyota deflector straight from the dealer . Installs in 20mins with rubber bumpers and protective film for the paint and screws directly into existing holes under the lip of the hood with brackets and 10 screws .

To be honest I like your current setup more than what I had planned with my 18x9 et0 TEs. Only thing about the SBs is that I believe it has a lower load rating compared to the others?

Have you thought of adding the Pro flares with marker lights? That would work perfect with your setup.

 

Exact look I’m going for! Did you go with zero offset on the Technics?

 

RRW RR5-H 18x9 +18 and Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 265/70R18. This is probably not a combo for everyone but this fits my application, which consists of a lot of highway towing miles. Quiet, comfortable, good mileage. I was nervous about the 265s on 9" rims and was disappointed that they were too bubbly at first but the look has either grown on me or I'm less certain that they're that bubbly. I was coming from the cringey 22" capstone wheels and 265/50R22 tires so maybe I just had to get used to the new look. In any event I couldn't be more pleased with the performance, which is what matters to me, and the new wheels give me options in the future.

 

Finally got new tires! I had originally put on Cornfeds 1" leveling spacer and wanted to go back to a tad bit of rake, so swapped for the 1/2" kit and went with recon grappler 275/65 20. Some people will say I should have left the thicker spacer but me likey!
