Newb to truck tires and towing here. New to trucks all together to be honest.

Anyone have some suggestions on what to replace my stock Bridgestone Dueler H/T 265/60R20 with? 2022 Limited CM Short 4x4

Looking for Tires/Wheels to check off all the boxes at a decent price, that are better then what I have. Not sure where to start.

Lighter/as Light (weight) as the current, but still able to push to max GAWR.
    Improved handling when towing TT.
    casual/minimal off-road use 4x4
    also as a daily driver.

sorry if I missed anything on this already.

    thanks!

My vote would be 275/60R20 Cooper AT3 4s as an all around top all terrain p-rated tire.

I’m looking hard at the SL rated Toyo AT3s in a 275/65r20. I do a fair bit of hunting but the off-road is usually grass and fields rather than rocks, so I don’t think I need a load E tire. The one above weighs about 46lbs which is about 14lbs light than the load E tire.

I haven’t pulled the trigger yet because I’m just unsure of the load rating. It is rated at 2600lbs vs the E tire at 3700 lbs from what i remember. Like you I’m more to this, so if anyone could help me that would be great. Some off-road, 80% highway, 30% of time with loads (can be heavy but very occasionally), and in the the summer I tow a 900lb Jon boat/trailer.

what do you think? Will the SL be enough or should I go with the E? Unfortunately C and D don’t exist in this rim size.

I would go to a general grabber at 275/70/18 in 116 or 118 load rating. 18x9 should be around +20 offset and you can adjust for an 18x8.5.

I think the 275/65 is load E, the 275/60 is less.

A P tire is fine unless your towing max all teh time, then maybe go up. Adding 15-20lbs or more to each tire will kill MPG and load E does not ride as nice.

so really depends on all your going to do.

FWIW, Cooper is made in USA and I prefer USA goods.

General question for those that have either tire.
Which tire has more road noise?
Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT or BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2?
I have had BFG T/As on past trucks and they were moderately loud on the road noise but awesome on traction. My primary driving is 80% pavement 20% off-road (my house has a 1/2 mile gravel "driveway" for starters). Thanks in advance.

I have owned both back to back

get the coopers, hands down for what your use is. much better tire when you consider performance over the life of the tire. Teh BFGs are great for about 20-25K then they get really loud and the wet traction goes to shit.

The coopers are much quieter and stay that way, great traction and look great as well. made in USA as well and are cheaper and come with an actual warranty of 60K miles,

Yes you are correct - the 275/60r20 is the SL.

So for when they mean the weight limit of the tire, are they referring to the payload? The truck’s GVWR already exceeds that of the SL tire, so do I presume correct?

I was torn, not any longer. What you mention about the BFGs was my experience as well as they got older/worn down....almost like I was on slicks after a while in wet weather. Thanks a bunch!

If I went 20” I was going to do the 275/60 Cooper Rugged Trek. It’s light, aggressive and has a mileage rating with great reviews. The cost wasn’t horrible either. The only reason I went with the evolution over the rugged in my current setup, was the cost and weight were approximately the same.

I can’t use BFG KO2 because I have a 40ft driveway of gravel and they would toss that gravel for another mile after leaving the house. No workie.

    Yup…295/70/18

    I think I saw 285/65/20’s also…they are both roughly 34.4-34.6

That’s easy, just let the tires do the trimming. It’ll stop rubbing eventually

According to the Nokian website their production facilities are located in Finland and Russia. I'm less concerned about location of production vs quality and reputation, performance, etc.

Nokian apparently invented the winter tire as well as the all weather tire.

I thought I saw the OE OR 18" tire and Michelin trails come in at 65lbs? Did I read that correctly somewhere?

With a BR stadium wheel and cooper I'd be coming in at around 81lbs. With the nokians id be looking at 67lbs. Think Ill really notice it at the pump?

I also don't like how the Cooper's don't have great reviews when it comes to slush and ice. My truck will be a family hauler and safety is more of a concern than it was when we were without kiddies.

    Yup…65lb are the OE 18’s wheels/tires.

In my case I went from those to ~90lbs when I put my 295/70/18 Atturo Trailblade X/T on my stock 18”rims. I have noticed it at the pump (seemingly about 2-3 mpgs) so I would think yours would be that or less depending on driving style and activities.

The OE 20’s with its Falkens come in at 74lbs however (read that somewhere on here), so chances are depending on how these trucks get mpg’s calibrated for that difference between the two you might be just fine.

Well I caved and picked up the Cooper's today... They just look so damn good and outside of the week or so a year I may have to deal with ice around here, I think the wet and dry traction and handling of the at3 xlts should be solid!

Now I just need to dive in on a wheel. Stadiums in +35 or fuel shok (bronze) in +20. If the shoks came in a +35 it's be no question...

    Are you getting the 17’s?

…as I didn’t see the 18’s in +35 (unless I am reading the chart wrong)

That's the plan!!! For ~$160 / tire I just couldnt resist. Can get a set of running boards too with the money I was planning on spending on wheels and tires. The go rhino boards finished with bed liner coating that was mentioned in the accessories thread looks like the OEM version at half the price.

Yeah, that is still my favorite wheel but the more I think of it I think having crap constantly flying up (rain, rain, rain, and dirt you know what I'm talking about being a west coaster) and painting the side of the truck will bug me. I can easily be convinced back though if those with actual experience don't think it's really a big deal?

I guess mudflaps are the answer to that problem?

Ehh…That’s assuming you don’t have to remove the mudflaps (which most do at my size/295’s) it probably won’t eliminate that issue…

Still going to paint the truck under some conditions given almost everything under +25 is probably going to be out side the mudflaps to some degree

Yeah not too many options then... The stadiums are pretty clean and slick though so thats probably the direction I need to go. Nice that they are also the least expensive of the 3.

Do you have these on the truck yet? I’m looking at the method 705 but same specs in 17in 35offest. Just wanted to see how much clearance you had around the brakes
