Ever full flex? Not that I expect to fully flex...not rock crawling, but 30+ miles from pavement/overlanding. Your statement makes me think I can easily run 275/65/r20 tires. Likely LT version of the AT4Ws.

I haven’t full flexed but never rubbed anything in and out of steep driveways like from highways and such. The 275’s will clear the UCA’s easily but are a tiny bit taller. I would prefer that setup with at least a level. I know you won’t have any issues out back but up front flexing hard it might rub.

Well, I'll have about 800+ pounds in the truck bed with a popup tent camper and a small off-road trailer being towed... so I've got serious concerns...haha. Appreciate all the input...

Anyone know what you the max size 20s you can while also maintaining full flex?

I don’t flex my suspension that much, but theres a lot of room in there with the 275/65 size.
FYI sidewall height on the 275/65/20 is basically the same as the 265/70/18 stock tires that came on the truck

Glad I went with these over Michelin’s….and they look way better in person. I think 33’s look perfect with no suspension upgrades.

His wheels are 8-9lbs lighter than stock, tires are about 16lbs heavier. So overall only about 7lbs per corner heavier than stock

Wheels were designed, engineered and tested to fit the 2022+ Tundra.

    • 95.2mm hub centric center bores (no need for hub rings on the 2022+ Tundra).
    • Lug holes/stud openings machined to accept extended thread lug nuts for maximum stud engagement on short, OE Toyota wheel studs.
    • Special high strength, high ridigity, and high clearance flow formed barrel that we designed specifically to fit over the Tundra brakes with plenty of clearance for stick-on wheel weights.
    • FN Wheels are manufactured from high purity Dubal 6061 T-6 aluminum alloy (no re-casts).
    • 2,500lbs+ load rating per wheel (5,000lbs per axle) as tested to SAE J2530 testing standard with up to a 37" tire diameter. Larger tires exert more load, so we tested and load rated our 17" wheels to handle 37" tires with a load rating that exceeds the Tundra axle rating by 20%+.
    • Reinforced flanges and lips for maximum strength and durability.
    • Raised bead humps with knurled bead seats for improved bead retention at low PSI (i.e. when aired down while off-roading).
    • Relatively light weight of approximately 26.5lbs per wheel given all of the strength and off-road enhancements.
    • Durable paint/clear coat (extremely fade resistant compared to our competitors' matte black finishes).
    • Simple, strong, and easy to clean design.

I think you have to be an approved vendor here to sell stuff, just throwing that out there.

anyways, what does that weight per corner for wheels and tire? got to be super heavy

I can delete or re-write the post if deemed necessary. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers. I just figured that anyone reading would want to know all of the specs, but if it comes off as an advertisement I'd be happy to modify the post. I intentionally didn't insert a link or a price, because I didn't want my post to come off as an advertisement. I read through the terms of service https://www.tundras.com/help/terms and didn't see anything that I would interpret as prohibiting my post.

I'm not familiar with any other 17" wheels that are available right now that were designed specifically by Tundra owners for Tundra owners. I also haven't seen any other wheel manufacturers or vendors on here engaging with Tundra owners and answering questions. I thought it would be helpful for me to do so (check my post history).

Regarding the weight per corner for this setup - it's all relative. This is actually a pretty light weight set up for 37's.

Compare this, for example, to the combination that this gentleman posted just a few posts prior to mine (here).

    The 4x4 Center's 2023 Tundra:

26.7lbs per wheel (17x9" +25 6x139.7 FN Six Shooter flow formed)
    +
    64.8lbs per tire (37x12.50R17 BFG KO2 load range C)
    ------
91.5lbs approximate weight per corner (a little more by the time you balance the wheel/tire combination)

ADSFM's Tundra from the post referenced above :

    31.2lbs per wheel (18x9" +0 6x139.7 Method MR309 Grid)
    +
    60.3lbs per tire LT275/70R18 Falken A/T4W
    ------
91.5lbs approximate weight per corner (a little more by the time you balance the wheel/tire combination)

The 17" Six Shooter combination with 37" tires is basically the same weight as the 18" Method MR309 combination with 33" tires. This isn't to say that there's anything wrong with his wheel and tire set up. I like the way his truck looks, and I don't think his combination is too heavy for a Tundra either. I just used his truck as an example since it was one of the most recent posts in this thread, and you asked about a weight comparison.

If we were to install a lighter weight 285/70R17 (33" OD) we could easily get the 17" combination under 75lbs per corner.

*Post edited because I had two different sources for the weight of the 37x12.50R17 BFG KO2 load range C tires. I changed the calculation in my post to include the heavier of the two weights.

Ride is just as plush as OEM with a bit more stiffness on side to side turning.
Highly recommended if not wanting to add weight and roughness.

Most of the method, fuel and icon wheels I looked at were 31 to 34 lbs and the heaviest was 39 lbs. The FN BFD 18 inch wheels were a little over 22 lbs so a huge saving in weight compared to other aftermarket wheels.

Yes, a tiny bit. The mudflaps rubbed bad and I Zipp tied them back, swaybar rubs a tiny bit at full lock. Was worse at the beginning but after the suspension settled a little it’s pretty minimal.

Another set of FN Wheels. Total weight of the out going set of worn 20" tires/wheels was ~72lbs. The FN wheels with Cooper Discoverer 275/70r18 Load E are 83 lbs.

Those running Load E, what pressures do you prefer? I was running about 40psi and the truck felt SLUGGISH. Raising them up to 50psi seemed to take care of most of that, while still feeling only slightly stiffer than stock.

I also wanted to add that Dustin at FN Wheels was a joy to deal with. You can tell he is a passionate dude that cares deeply about his customers.

    Dustin,

I think your reading of the guidelines is accurate. I understand the forum's desire for vendors accounts, but as a forum user, I really appreciate a company that will openly discuss all the details of their product, so I can make a better decision.

I have a set of FN wheels on my GX and they have been amazing! They were the lightest, strongest, least expensive wheel I was able to find and they still look amazing (minus where I gouged them into rocks) 6 years later.

If a company is going to make a wheel that's tailored to fit the 3rd gen Tundra in a sea of wheels that "fit", but poke out 3 inches, or weight 35 pounds or don't have the correct hub diameter, ect, I'd like to know all about them.

I'm just waiting for Dustin to release his next wheel for the Tundra, hopefully by summer and I'll be buying another set from him.

This thread has been very helpful!! Thanks everyone for all the great content and resources. After reading through this thread I've decided to rock the fuel hype 17x8.5 +10. Paired with toyo open counyry at3 285/70/17 sl. I kept my suspension stock and tried to keep weight as low as i could. Rims are at 26lbs tires at 53lbs. Could of gotten baja boss sl and it weighs in at 48lbs but really wanted the white outlined letters to give me setup an old school classic feel. 20240321_180610.jpg 20240321_180553.jpg 20240321_183156.jpg
