Question guys and ladies. Has anyone ever run a rough country 4 or 6 inch lift with an 18 inch wheel.
    I have 18x9 with +20 offset
RC recommends a 20 inch wheel with a +20 offset but when I call them and ask about using an 18 they said they never tried it and just recommend the 20 to be safe.
Obviously I don’t want to buy new wheels if I don’t need to.
If you did run an 18 what was the offset.
    Thanks for any help !!!

Stock suspension , going back and forth between the RC 1.75” or Westcott 3/1. Little bit of rub on the mudflaps (removed), clears everything else. Not too bad as far as poke. Kinda liking the look. Might wait a little bit before adding the leveling kit.

Been reading the wheels and tires photo thread but I can’t seem to figure it all out.

so I have a 2023 platinum coming and have it coming with a ready lift lvl kits that gives me a 3” front and 1”in the rear. I’m trying to figure out what to roll with size wise and plan on using the stock platinum rims because I live the look of them. But only seem to find numbers pertaining to after market rims with 17s or18s…

to many numbers for my simple brain to handlehelp lol.

I'd go with 295/65/20. Essentially 35s but less width than the 12.5 so it won't rub on your UCAs using your stock platinum wheels.

Hey guys and gals I found this tire by accident when I was looking at some tire specs.
    upload_2023-6-9_21-8-9.jpg
    Most 35x12.5 or 295/65/ 305/70s are all 67 to 74 lbs.
This tire the 315 is basically same size as a 35/12.5 with a little more diameter. 34.88 to 34.5 but here’s the thing look at the Weight!!!!!
That’s 10 to 15 lbs lighter on rotating weight thats huge.
What Nitto did was made this a 6 ply tire instead of the usual 10 to 12 ply. For the average truck that doesn’t tow a ton or haul a ton of weight this is all you need.

I put them on. I did have to remove the front mud flaps and Velcro back the felt liner in the front/rear as it barely touched on a 20x9 +1 wheel. If I went with +18 offset it prob would have cleared but I wanted a little poke.
I drove her today and picked up 2.4 mpg on average I was shocked it could make that much of a difference. 16.4 to 18.8 and I drive in sport mode!
Just passing this tire option on to others.

Specs on my truck for those wondering
    2022 Tundra TRD package
    Ready lift 3/1
    Fuel Rebel 6 20x9+1 wheel
    Nitto Recon Grappler 315/60/20
Tires look amazing on the truck I really like the set-up
My poke is basically the first tread block so approx 1 to 1.5 inch luv it. Nice poke but not too much.

weight makes a huge difference, that plus tread design and width. Would love to find a ultra light set of 35x11.5x20 tires to run on my factory wheels for town/ highway use

Dexter so true. My mileage went up a little more I’m around 18.8 now so almost picked up 3mpg I still can’t believe that. What I found out was it’s not so much the weight yes it helps but also the compound. Per Nitto it’s a harder compound hence if u look at tread depth it’s 14.0 but the same size tire and brand with the E load rating is 16/32 tread depth. The reason the heavier tire has more tread depth is because it’s a softer compound but yet both tires carry a 65000 mile warranty. Per Nitto they will wear about the same.
So the lighter weight and harder compound tire both add up to my almost 3 mpg pickup.
Def know it’s the tires because I picked up the mpg immediately after the tire install and my old tire were the same diameter so it’s not a rearend gear thing.
I luv these tires and they look the exact same as the heavier E load range tires in the same size. Nitto Recon Grapplers
One additional plus is they ride smoother again as we know the heavier duty the tire the harder it’s going to ride that’s an obvious one as the side wall gets thicker and stiffer and I went from an 18 to a 20 inch rim so less sidewall but still rides smoother over bumps.

One thing to consider, not necessarily towards the Ridge Reckon model, but I’ve had other Nittos start to crack. These tires only serve as highway street duties, YMMV. The tires I’m referring to are NT420. They are probably different compounds as well.

from that experience I’ve been a bit hesitant to purchase another Nitto tire.

    Thanks for the tip
I only have experience with the Recon or Ridge Grapplers.
They have both been a huge success for Nitto. The Ridge is prob the number 1 tire in Texas. There on prob 80% of the trucks I look at.
I went with the Recon Grappler AT model over the Ridge Hybrid Grappler only because my truck is all street driving. The Recon Grappler and Ridge Grappler are very similar but the Ridge is def more aggresive tread pattern.

The Nittos are also terrible in cold/icy/wet conditions. This is pretty important for those of us that don't live in AZ or southern CA.

I understand your frustration. I can only speak from my experience and my Nittos work very well in the rain. Ice I have no idea. So many diff factors can contribute to poor experiences with any tire. When I lived in Chicago I don’t think any tire worked on ice but again that’s just me.

Our trucks have wide heavy tires and tons of rolling resistance. Three things that would make any tire poor on ice.
No excuses. For me I love my Nittos and like I mentioned here in Texas The Ridge Grappler is the most popular.

I thought I would contribute after getting my inspiration from everyone else who posted. So, I went with 18x8 +15 Raceline Spikes in Gunmetal. Got em at Discount Tire for $170/each and same price on Raceline.com. They are 31 lbs (kinda heavy I know), but I knew I was going with a SL tire that is 52 lbs (Nitto Recon Grappler 295/70 or 34.3x11.7) so I didn't care too much. I really like the design and color so they fit the bill for me (especially at $170 a piece). Didn't want to go with the typical black on black look or fake beadlocks and the Gunmetal matches the trim on my interior really nicely as an added bonus. At 83 lbs per corner, my MPGs went from 19 to 17 (70% highway, 30% city). The TRD 2" leveling struts only gave me 1" of lift so I got some cornfed 1" spacers on the way to level her out perfectly. Just removed the brackets at the rear of the wheel well and it doesn't rub at all. Pictures don't do this truck justice honestly. It looks super beefy in-person, possibly better than a Raptor. The poke is perfect IMO also, 1.5". I think the black caliper covers pull everything together too, that was the plan anyways. LMK if any questions arise, happy to answer. Cheers

Thanks, I think it turned out great. I'm very happy with the results after shelling out $3k..

The +35 will be flush with the fenders. I knew I wanted some poke once I decided I was going with 35s and a level. I think the +35 would look great with 33s and no level however.

Since my truck is daily driven and I don't tow or go off-road often, keeping the ride plush and the MPGs manageable were my two priorities. I'm okay with the heavier rims because my tires are 10 lbs lighter than the average 35" tire. Could I have chosen a lighter weight rim to get even better fuel economy? Of course, but I couldn't find anything in an 18" other than these that I really liked (I wanted more of an OEM plus look). Also, I couldn't go down to a 17" because the caliper covers require at least an 18". I think 17s look too small on this truck anyway and with 20s you lose ride quality. I think Toyota got it right with the 18" BBS TRD Pro wheels but they're not my style even though I've had plenty of opportunities to purchase some take offs for a good price.

I wouldn't recommend any other tire if you live below the snow belt like me (Phx, AZ). If you do get snow, then the Toyo AT3 would be the one IMO. The Recon Grappler looks great, it's quiet, comes in SL in a lot of sizes now, and the warranty is great. It's pretty tough to beat..

Good luck on your search. It took me about 2 months of research and going back and forth on style vs cost and the overall weight of the wheel/tire combo. It's kind of funny, once I decided I wanted the 295/70r18 Recon Grapplers in SL at 52 lbs, it became a lot easier for me to choose a wheel. I think most people choose their wheels first but the tires were a priority for me because they weigh more than the wheels.

Ditto to what SR72 said. We could be related lol
I went 20x9 with +1 offset because I too wanted some poke. I had 18x8 with +20 and that gave me about 1/4 poke now I’m at 1.0 inch. To me looks better tougher look.IMO.
TIRES YES I now have a 315/60/20 SL
    Recon Grappler
    Diameter 34.88
    Tread width 10.0
    Sec width 12.72
    WEIGHS 57 lbs !!!!
    Psi 35

    My old tires
    35/12.5/18 E
    Diameter 34.5
    Tread 10.0
    Sec width 12.4
    WEIGHS 70 lbs !!!!!!
    Psi 40

I picked up 2.8 mpg by switching my combo witch I had to do for a 4 inch lift. 18s wouldn’t clear the tie rods!
Even with 20s the truck runs smoother because of less pressure and softer sidewalk. Looks you can’t tell a difference!
Another reason for increased mileage besides 13 lbs lighter (wheels were 5 lbs heavier but weight is now closer to the hub) so saved 8 lbs per wheel a ton of rotating weight.
But also the SL tire is a harder compound then the heavier E or F rated tire there a softer compound per Nitto. So a softer compound is more rolling resistance!
    It adds up believe me.
I’ll never go back to a E or F rated tire. SL all the way!

Really? I guess that explains why the price was so low. I almost spent the extra $100 per wheel for the "gloss black" but couldn't pass up the deal on the "Gunmetal" for such a reputable brand. FWIW, my 2nd choice was the KMC Impact but I decided that I didn't like the unproportional spacing between the spokes. Same with the Method 318s.
