I drove to Anchorage from Fort Hood in 2000. Then to Fort Benning in March of 2001. Then, flew to Kabul in October 2001.

Why do we do anything, because it can be done and we have the need to do it.

What, no fishing in AK? No hunting there? A bit better than in TX and I'm a native Texan.

I’m just saying that you were a tourist in Florida, so Bubba in his lifted truck with two flags may have sold you that special type of Florida onions. You as a poor unsuspecting tourist may have thought that it was the hot damnest onions you’ve ever tasted. I’m just saying :rofl:

Oh, ok. I saw a black TRX the other evening coming home from work. It looks a lot like the Raptor from behind at a distance. But, as I pulled up next to it, I could clearly see that it was no Raptor. If I had the money, I would certainly buy one.

I'm a skeptic by nature, especially in your case with your bs. I spent 4 months there helping a friend start up a calibration lab. I had no time to be a tourist in that sweaty ass hell hole. Couldn't leave soon enough. What a jerk. Ignoring you now....

All jokes aside, I believe that Texas is much hotter in the summer, than Florida at its hottest. It’s like the living hell sitting in a M1 Tank or a Bradley playing war games at Fort Hood during the summer.

All, like said earlier this week, that there are going to be people out there that will be converting their Gen 2.5 Tundras to Gen 3. The same holds true for modification kits and renderings for the Gen 3s. I have no doubt that within a few months after the Gen 3 hits dealerships, that their will be aftermarket upgrades available for the Gen 3s, and subsequently conversion parts for the Gen 2.5 to Gen 3.

The link below takes you to an article about Oscar Vargas, who is a popular designer for aftermarket parts for trucks and cars. He has already begun to do renderings for the Gen 3s. Many of his renderings have been used to develop tons of conversion kits for the big-3 pickup trucks.

Understood. But, there are Gen 2.5 Tundra owners out there like myself who would be interested to see how much they could mod their V8 5.7l tundras to at least look like the Gen3.

That’s what is trending right now in the automobile industry. Enthusiasts are all keeping themselves busy by accessorizing and modifying their respective vehicles to their own likings. It’s a hobby. The biggest question is “What if?” And I have no doubt in my mind that there will be a few like myself who will attempt to convert some or all of the external features of the Gen3 to their Gen2.5.

We shall certainly see how this turns out in the very near future. :smokertransformer::transformer:

V8 Engine swap while seemingly more expensive and mechanically difficult would be a better bet.

That too is a mod, so it would be interesting to see if anyone tries pairing the v8 engine with twin turbos.

I love the new look and started my own conversion on my 2019 with a new grille and matte black vinyl wrap. I’m sure I’ll continue to modify until I have it closer to the look. 4921F26E-29A6-4AF9-8C79-3D124D91334B.jpg

Man why would anyone want to do this? The 2.5 gen is perfect in how it looks and what it is, but it is dated in the interior and truck tech. If you want the new looks, why not get the entire new truck?

    Babyshark,

I wanted the new 2022. However, it’s backordered and about $20k more if you want 4WD and leather. So I went this route. Also, it’s the first year and they need to work the kinks out. Not to mention, I love sprucing up my ride.

It’s about one’s desire and abilities. Vehicle modification has become a hobby nowadays. It’s no different from those people who have Jeep Wranglers from the 80s, who modified them to look like the 2022.

Sorry I wasn’t responding to Grey23091 - that is pretty cool and resourceful. I’m commenting more about the topic of the OP. I appreciate my vehicle cosmetically for what it is. Trying to bolt on the newer cosmetic parts is weird to me. Trying to go retro and mod an old car that is no longer being made to have newer functionality and power makes more sense to me. Like a restomod. But to make a good looking old truck clone a new one that is currently in production and will continue to be available for years - well why not get the new truck then. But heck a truck is blank canvas to do whatever you want so have at it.

You hit the nail right on the head! Pickup trucks are blank canvas indeed. I couldn’t count the number of various mods that I’ve seen on trucks in recent years. In fact, whenever I see a virgin truck, it looks odd to me for some reason.:rofl:Change the darn wheels at the very least.
