Hi, quick question on a power steering part. PN 44410 - TUBE ASSEMBLY, PRESSURE FEED. Is there any reason I need to do a full part replacement versus eliminating the double-hairpin metal line only? Can I go with a high-pressure flex line instead?

Can anyone provide insight into why it's built like this? At first I thought exposed metal for cooling properties; but I have a PS fluid cooling fin in front of the tranny cooler. Then I thought maybe the 180 degree bends do something with volume vs pressure.

Found some guidance on AllPar that sounds feasible - harmonics...

Can anyone confirm or deny that the mixture of materials is simply a cost and/or ease of installation factor? As in, flexible hose use in matings and areas of vibration whereas metal is used where it won't need to flex at all? I guess it's time to bite the bullet and buy the OEM replacement...
