More clarity, I did a nice long drive getting it hot, with the plan to check it afterwards. Then out of nowhere a sudden rainstorm started. I had just seconds to check it, and only once. It was reading just above the 2nd/top "cold" v-notch. I wish I could have rechecked it several times. So that is the plan to repeat. But in that inch or so between the "cold" and "hot" v-notches, how much fluid does that represent? So I know how much I need to add if I am too low? Is that a 1/2 qt, a full qt?

(By comparison for motor oil that hashmark area usually represents a qt.)

For something this important the manuals and such are just woefully lacking in information. There's not even a dipstick explanation in the manual!

Best thing I can say is it isn’t much. I don’t have your exact answer. You’ll figure it out. Just follow the advice already given and it will all make sense once you work through the Mojo.

If you feel you need to add, add a little at a time. heck the dipstick after adding and after driving to warm the fluid up. If you need some more, add a little more. Hard to take a little out if you add too much. Easier to add a little more if needed.

Thanks for all the advice. Going to go thru the process again soon, from soup to nuts and another spill and fill once I get the precise level hot confirmed. I'm wondering if the reason I only got out a bit over 2 qts is perhaps it was low to start with; second guessing my initial readings now.

Multiple changes in 2 tundras 2000 and 2002. Parking slightly elevated front.

Consistently getting about 4.2 qts drained.

Refills same amount. Perfect reading on dipstick when hot.

Either way, as long as the dipstick reads good on level ground you'll be fine.
