2 years ago now, after getting extracted by some friendly folks in a T4R up in Warm Creek Bay, UT. Stupid moves on my part. Truck had 7 people in. Thought that dusty meant solid, quickly found out that was not the case. Really should've had traction boards and a longer tow-strap, or winch and sand anchors.

It wouldn't had mattered much. I went down to 10psi but I sunk it to the axles in lake silt mud with a tree literally no-where in site.

I tried waving down a 2nd Gen Tundra but they ignored me. The T4R owner was nervous about coming out to me because he was afraid he'd get stuck too, but the patch of mud I hit was pretty specific. It was hard - hard - hard - soft. Instant change.

What got me was that it was a hard crust over very soft mud. So you could walk around outside the truck just fine, but the wheels were totally sunk in peanutbutter.

I learned a valuable lesson - when far away from help and no ability to self-recover - stay on the damn track. You don't need to stay on the pavement, but going cross country was definitely my undoing. Had I stayed on the track I probably would've been fine.

This is a good view of where I got stuck. This was two years early, and the mud in this video had gone dry (mostly, as I found out) and there quite a bit of grass and brush starting to grow.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6vGndPiO8k

The water level had dropped and gone out about another half mile or so. I actually drove off the little peninsula where they are parked.

Like I said, learning experience. I try to tell other "overlanders" about it when I can. I think we need to be more open about our mistakes as way to educate others.

    More of that please.

    But in pictures.

I'm curious to see the interior and rear suspension details.

Is that a bought LT kit up front, or DIY?
