17"s six shooter 5x150, bronze color, +18/25 offset and hub centric (110.5(?)mm) would be nice

Stupid question: I get the offsets, but what does “Hub Centric” mean?

So it fits over the hub and leaves the hub exposed?

Both I assume, but I typically run extended if I can for the extra threads and piece of mind.

    Update:
So this may get a small delay here and there. Unfortunately I was on my way out to vacation yesterday and got rear ended in stop and go traffic. Other driver appears to have been doing about 40 to 50 at the time of impact. My truck will be out of commission for a bit, rear bumper and hitch are gone, rear bedside on one side is folded. Cab got smacked and dented from the bed moving. Frame has a small 2-3" roller bend in it, etc...

I will be a little busy with insurance and body work and such, but will still reach out to Dustin. Just wanted to explain why I might not reply as much over the next week or so.

    Thanks guys.

I'm curious about what the overall weight of the wheel/tire packages will be with these wheel options vs. 18's or even 20's. On my current "summer" set-up, using a factory 20x8" wheel and Nokian Rotiiva AT's in 275/55/20 I'm at 75lbs with wheel weights and center cap. I recently bought a set of monoblock forged WEDS Kneeler Force's in 18x8 +52mm which are around 24lbs or so. Coupled with the same Nokian's but in 275/65/18 the package will be at 61lbs. I'm looking forward to the weight reduction!

The 18" FX pros are ~23-24lbs. The 17" Six Shooters are 21lbs. That's just about the lightest you can get for a set <$1000. The fact that they look good is like a bonus.

Elduder - Thanks for the reply. I understand that these are lighter in the 17", my question though is looking at the entire equation. When downsizing to a 17" wheel, that means also more sidewall, which moves the more rotational mass further out from the center, which amplifies the effect of the weight.

In any case, I'm all for maximum overall weight reduction to help with handling, acceleration and fuel economy. :bananadance:

And yes, for something under $1k is awesome. My set of WEDS Keeler Force wheels was equivalent to $580USD/each + shipping from Japan.

U got any math for your rotational mass assessment?

Chugs - it's been a while since I've sat down and crunched the numbers. However, if you watch video below, it'll give you the same idea. The intent is to minimize overall mass, the further the distance the mass is from the hub, the more power your vehicle needs to accelerate (ie. to overcome inertia). That is for acceleration and fuel economy. When it comes to suspension responsiveness, it's not the distribution of the mass that matters so much as the actual mass that's reduced. Your suspension requires less effort to keep your wheel/tire in contact with the ground the lighter the entire wheel/tire is.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHQOctEvtTY

Like with everything though, there's a point of diminishing returns when it comes to chasing weight savings for the sake of efficiency, as the $/lb rises exponentially the more the weight you try to save.

In my case specifically, the "sweet" spot seems to be an 18" wheel and tire combo. To get similar weights to a forged 18" wheel from a 20" wheel, you're looking at Volk TE37's which are well over $1k USD/wheel. Assuming you're using the same brand and model of tire for comparisons, the higher the aspect ratio, the thicker the sidewall, and therefore more mass is being rotated further away from the center.

    Empirical testing:

    Getting back on track here:

Good news, spoke with Dustin today and confirmed both the 5 star and Six Shooter are coming back. Currently with an ETA of early spring 2021. I know its a bit of a wait, but they will be worth it.

I should be in touch with him in another few weeks or a month or so, as it gets closer to their re-release I will either create a new thread for a formal group buy or will put all the pertinent info for purchase here in this thread. Thanks for the interest guys, Dustin has heard you and is excited to be giving you another 17" option that will exceed the current markets quality standard in load rating and weight savings.

FNs are hub and lug centric. The lugs have a tapered hole to center the wheel to the lugs, the center bore on all the current 6x139.7 FN wheels is 106mm which would be hub centric for the 4Runner and Tacoma. FN would make the 5x150s with the correct hub bore for the Tundra. There will be no need to worry about mounting them.

There will be either an organized group buy or an initial run list that will allow you to secure either wheel early next year. Thanks for the interest.

Spoke with Dustin a couple days ago because I was buying a set of 17" FX Pros for our 4Runner. Basically right now he is working on getting a factory selected, its a delicate balance. Dustin is very picky about quality so the options become limited. That coupled with the recent (last couple years) increase in raw metal costs and shipping costs can make things difficult. Regardless of that, it seems that price and quality will remain the same as they have been but timing is still being worked out. He still targeted either late Q1 or early Q2 of 2021.

Ill post anything else that comes up.
