Yeah they burn tires quick. As with everything, its only as reliable as the upkeep performed. Most folks say they're unreliable because they don't take care of them.

Yeah weve had 3 bmw products and if you do the general maintenance then youll be fine. Its more money to upkeep but their stuff lasts a long time in my experience.

Can't compare 14mpg at $2/gal gas to 30mpg at $5/gal gas for " savings ".... put in $5/gal on your 14mpg column and the cost goes from $2,857.14 to $7,142.86 ... That is $3,806.52 MORE in fuel cost yearly vs a 30mpg @20,000 miles yearly

$3,806.52 is a big savings to me.

Thats a nice picture and those are very fun to drive. I'm in your boat, maybe even less reliable. Turbo gets 34 mpg and runs like hell... when it runs.

I don't care if gas prices go up, I'm stupidly emotionally attached to my truck. Besides the replacement cost outweighs what I could sell it for and I have more efficient cars to drive when I don't need to do truck stuff.

Loved my GTI. Had a 2005 337 edition in college. The 1.8T with factory Recaros. Baltimore streets ruined it. Hit a pot hole once going 30mph....blew all the passenger side bags and both Recaro seats bags. Insurance totalled it. So I cut the bags out with a knife and drove it for another 4 years fingers crossed I never got hit lol.

Ouch! I nearly got a 335 and really wanted it but it had more problems than I wanted. I love this car, my wife hates it. It's a 2005 too.

It was between another GTI and this R53. Detailed a buddies (newer model turboed) and fell in love. Went and found this with the older style N14 and supercharged and instantly had to have it. It is a gokart on rails. I'll get smacked in a straight away but very few cars can keep up on the twisties. I come from racing bikes so twisties are where I feel at home. I've got big plans for this thing once I outgrow it's practical usefulness.

I'm probably going to go back to driving my Excursion 7.3L diesel. I inherited it a few years ago. Diesel here is about the same as regular unleaded now. I get 16 mpgs with the EX compared to barely 15 mpgs with the Tundra. They're both about the same size though the EX is heavier and slower. The EX is more comfortable and the visibility is better from the driver's seat than the Tundra. If the EX would have been a 4X4 I would have never bought the Tundra.

A battery replacement in a Prius is very expensive so make sure it has a new one. I looked at some at auction last year. They were cheap but the battery replacement costs way outweighed buying a similar age Corolla.

Since $5/gal has never been reached in the U.S., all the calculations comparing the different gas mileages assume $2/gal. I also attached the file so you could play with it yourself.

And I agree that the cost difference between lower MPG and higher MPG is there, I'm just saying that at current prices, it doesn't make as much difference as most think. It also depends on how many miles you drive and the way you drive. It's just that I realized several years ago that I was spending more time and money than it was worth on this topic. I had moved from the country, where I needed my 4x4 regularly, to the city, where I only use my truck as a truck only once or twice a month. I considered going from the truck to a car, but I realized that the cost savings were much less than I had assumed, and were not worth the lost convenience of when I NEEDED a truck.

you can replace just the cells and not even all of them.. get out of it for a couple hundred lots of times. But yes, you are correct
he has bought, fixed, and sold about 5 this year, making thousands on each one

IMG_20210119_145930_01.jpg I have had a toaster (Camry) for years now and use it as my Tundra preservation vehicle. It has almost 196,000 miles on it and still going strong. But I also just bought this,... I'm ready for the coming high gas prices.
