My pickup had a 22r in it, it had 95 hp or something. getting onto the highway was tracherous, it was sloooow. the nice thing was that you could load it up far past what it was rated for and it would be the same speed. It would out tow my 3.9 liter dakota easily and again, be the same speed and power. It was a tractor through and through, and it gave me 8 liters/100 no matter what I did. It was what made me understand why people liked toyota.

I really think if emissions would allow for it, they could sell solid axle pre 86 4x4 pickups like the back ot the future trucks with the low power and no options and people would buy them today. I certainly would buy one.

Ahhhh the 3.9 liter Dakota. I had one. 1999 4x4 ext cab. barely better gas mileage than my Tundra. Couldn't get out of it's own way but it hauled a yard of dirt....on bump stops....

We have a 2008 martix, they are such good cars. Use it whenever we can so truck mostly just sits, which im realizing is not the best use of $$.

I knew the mileage sucked after my first one. Silver SR5 TRDOR DC, Radiant Red SR5 TRDOR CM and Quicksand Limited TRDOR CM. The mileage has been the same for me since ‘08. It is what I consider to be the only “weak point” in what I consider to be, IMHO, the perfect truck. There isn’t another truck on the market that I would rather have. I like the V8 Raptors but ford went and screwed that up with the Eco Boost. Anyone who does any research before they buy would know about the mileage, and if they have an issue with it move on and get something else.

The mpg doesn't "suck" the mpg is normal for trucks. You know before you buy. Can you make it worse? Sure, run/gun it all the time, put on lifts, and bigger tires. But you know it is going to be worse when you do all of that. Pretty simple.

It's insane. Just about every thread you read, somewhere gas mileage creeps in. I did a decent amount of research before I bought mine two years ago. Knowing going into the sale, that everything i wanted to do the truck was going to have a degrading effect on gas mileage. Two things, be an informed buyer, secondly, If you can afford a 40K plus truck and not afford the gas that goes in it. You probably shouldn't have bought that truck. Just sayin.

Seriously it's a truck. What did you all expect. But I digress... No one's going to comment on this guys rear tire pressure or about the payload rating of his Schwinn? SMH...

    Alright I'll bite.

I too once didn't give a shit about how much gas my truck used. Eventually I got tired of having a car payments worth of gas every month, at the peak I was spending just over $500 monthly. I don't see a problem with asking others in a forum what kind of mileage they get to compare and potentially find a way to use less gas (which I've done).

Maybe to the Texans spending $1.80 a gallon it's easy to say who gives a shit, where I live its $4 (or higher) for 87 and over a years worth of driving that's quite a difference. Track what you spend on gas for a year and come back saying you don't care about reducing that cost.

I think it’s fine that there have been discussions that compare mpg experiences, and any pointers shared about maximizing. The thing that rolls my eyes is the emergence of NEW mpg threads. It’s been done. The horse is kicked.

Depending on how you have your cluster screen set. The rolling mpg is for the entire tank since fill up. The one when you shut the truck off is for the single time from when you started the truck till shutting off. There may also be a "at that moment" average too. Kinda like eco through the radio. I've hand calculated mine almost every fill up, old habit. It is not far off for me less than 1mpg.

I'm only on my second tank but I thought my first one did much better than the Eco screen said. I can't remember for sure, though. I'll start tracking my fill ups through Fuelly going forward.

2019 Crewmax on 285/75R18 Cooper AT3 XLTs, Bilstein 6112 top setting and icon rear shocks with Coachbuilder +3 shackles and firestone airbags for weight purposes. Pedal commander installed. TRD duel exhaust.

With this setup, I knew MPG would suffer.

Pedal commander to sport plus, windows down, kids yelling “Yaaaayyyyy” with all windows down, 9mpg read out, priceless. I’d get 1mpg for those sounds.

I've now decided the gas mileage posts are Just Fine.

That is simply because I've really grown sick and tired of the "OVTune" thread. I mean it leads to nothing, no one ever states constructive, objective results of the 'tune', just subjective statements like 'more punch' 'quicker shifts', actually quite boring...
