Is it the Gates # 31780Y ?. I looked and got confused. LOL There are a lot of fuel caps to choose from! and on some where i typed in toyota tundra it said not compatible.

Definitely a great idea and i want one just for peace of mind. Can you link to the actual page where you bought it?

I was able to pick one up at Autozone. Their computer said it wasn't compatible with my truck, but the parts guy and I walked out to the parking lot and tried it and it works perfectly. The only difference is that mine's all black. I wonder if the yellow is because it's FFV? I also wonder why it would be different at all?

Interesting. So functionally it's no different, just a visual reminder of what can go in the hole.

Wheel spacers installed, windows tinted, 3/1 lift, blackout badges, center console organizer, trd shift nob, underseat storage from ESP truck accessories, plastidip front and rear bumpers, trd pro grille and hood bulge, undercover flex bedcover, and whatever other ideas I get from you guys on this forum.
Thank you for posting this, I have been looking for one and had some trouble locating one that was compatible. Some crazy people have been stealing gas and pouring stuff down gas tanks around town and I was hoping to find locking cap.

Thanks I picked one up. Peace of mind! I dont care what color it is just as long as it works. My truck is flex fuel but i dont ever plan on using flex fuel unless i am ever in a situation where that is all that is available.

Putting on a yellow cap takes away 7 horsepower and your man card.
If you bedazzle it, remove an additional 18 horsepower.

Also......I worked for 10 years at the auto parts counter of a store much like Auto Zone.
During that time, I found that when a manufacturer puts a letter at the end of a part number, it many times signifies the color.
    With that in mind, I found this;
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Gates-Fuel-...ash=item1e9ca1251a:g:geUAAOSw7aBVHwXg&vxp=mtr
Per the application chart on the Ebay page, it wont work.
If I were a betting man, I'd say it would.
Just be forewarned, an ill-fitting gas cap can lead to a check engine light.

An after-market fuel cap with lock seems to throw a code after a while on some Tundras (not all). The cap does more than just closing the opening. (Some of you guys have dirty minds. I avoided the use of the word "hole"). Wearing down of the rubber gasket, as far as I could tell, seems to be the culprit. Some Tundra owners regularly change out the fuel cap after some time. A fuel door, even though somewhat more expensive, is definitely less problematic.

I like the looks of that billet black fuel door, I wonder if it will look good on a white truck or just stick out like a sore thumb

Had a few of those doors in a chrome version several years back. Had one on my f150 and the f250. Same key fit either door. Not necessarily a bad thing but I found it a little odd that all the doors were keyed alike. Mine were made by Bullydog. With all of that being said I finally removed them after it became a common idea to just punch a hole in the tank.

I used to have one as well. I could just push hard on the cap while it was locked and still unscrew it...

So your truck is a flex fuel truck..ok...you never using flex fuel in it or not has nothing to do if a gas cap will work or not...majority of flex truck owner's will never try or put flex fuel in there truck so you can feel free to get the cap or similar

I found that parts stores love to sell these locking gas caps with the assurance that it will not throw a code. However they usually do eventually. The Locking fuel door is probably a much better idea.
