Putting in a different group size battery wouldn't damage anything. Are you saying that you reversed the polarities or shorted something?

Same size. But didn't realize it was wrong. Positive went to negative & negative went to positive

    Year make model always helps
I’m sure that’s theirs an override pin of the gear shift lock out somewhere around the gear shift but it has to have some more burnt out fuses or fusible links somewhere keep looking and when In doubt follow the - of the battery to a chassis or engine ground and + goes to alternator and starter it will make life easier in the future. Installing wrong size battery will not blow fuses installing the polarities wrong will.

With what you described there are probably many fuses blown, but it seems like at least the big 180A fuse didn't blow. Do you have a multimeter?

Some of the differences between Battery Council International group sizes aren't size differences but rather just terminal locations/orientation. I would disconnect the battery, get a cheap multimeter at the nearest hardware/auto parts store, and start checking all of the fuses.

That one that is circled is the fuse for your shift lock solenoid it’s in the cab under dash a 7.5amp check that but you should be checking all fuses

I bought da same size battery. It was a reverse on my end wen I hook da cables.
Blown 3fuses. Change battery & fuses. Truck started, gas it, bt no ac/power window& couldn't drive nor reverse.

You see that red circle theirs a little cap their if you pop that out and stick a long key or a small screwdriver in their you can shift your car out of park that will override the brake lockout solenoid but you should inspect all your lights and make sure they all work cause you might have several blown fuses

With those lights out, it’s not going to shift from park unless u over-ride it like in the above pic. Check those fuses inside the cabin too
