It's not outside the realm of believability. The stock Michelin's are passenger tires ("P"-rated) and not Light Truck tires. I don't know the weight of the OEM Michelin's, but many P-rated tires weigh around 35-41lbs lbs (in that size). That leaves 25-30 lbs for the stock rim. My aftermarket 18x9 rims are 33 lbs, but there are certainly lighter ones out there.

Michelin tire only that’s on the TRD 18 in rim is 37 lbs ( seen on a cpl of tire shop websites)

That’s 9 lbs per wheel lighter than the 20” trd wheel with tires. Makes sense though since those aren’t P rated like those michelins. I think anyone upgrading from those 65lb wheels is going to notice some drop in MPG for sure. More so than someone like me going from 74 to 78 lbs.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
Usually 1mpg is lost for a Lift, Larger tires (2x) and/or heavier bumpers/winches.

That is 1mpg lost for each of the above...its not a group deal!

I believe the Falkens (even as a P rated tire) brand are heavier than Michelins ( can’t recall the weight but 40-45 ish lbs to fit the 18 in rim) - add a slightly larger rim & 20 in vs 18 n tire on that rim…..

I didn’t expect them to be that light. With my new setup I’ve noticed a drop. So far only 1 mpg

I just upgraded to 35x12.5x18’s and just did a road trip for about 120 miles each way. I got close to 15 mpg. But it looks really cool 73C7E9B8-A83A-4697-A5AD-9EF801B155F1.jpg

Been down this road on my Gen 2.5…it’s all about the added weight and rolling resistance (Load range E).

Pay attention to the tire and wheel weight as compared to stock setup…for example, BFGs (59lbs) are heavier than most…typically an off-road wheel will be heavier than the stock wheel.

I went with AT IIIs (51lbs) simply due to less weight and stock 18” TRD wheels (31lbs).

    Looks great but…

Overall, the looks are killer yet it’s also about what you can tolerate when it comes to mileage, stopping, acceleration, ride, etc.

I am looking at getting Toyo A/T IIIs in 35/11.5/R20 to put on the stock rims of my Platinum CrewMax 5.5'. What was your gas mileage before? I am hoping I can have better than 15mpg.

I get about 15.5 with the exact set up you’re asking about. Only difference is I have a 1794.

Ridiculously light. 275/60R20 on my oem ford wheel was 91.5 lbs.

Although Tire rack is saying that tire is only 37 lbs which would leave 28 lbs for the wheel, so I guess that could be right.

Thats like sedan tire light lol

Just got back from Boise-Missoula-Flathead Lake- Boise (lots of mountain passes and mostly 2 lane roads so lots of passing) and averaged 21 both ways (taking into account the increased tire size)- pretty dang good if you ask me. Our major highways are 80+ mph and the fuel mileage takes a big hit there

Hoping I get close to that. I have been averaging 16.5mpg but almost all city driving. Once I move, hoping the gas mileage goes up....though about to install 35" tires might eat into it :/

I put 265 75 18 BFG AT KO2 (range E) on 18x9 aftermarket wheels. I lost a good bit. I'm around 13.5 city and 17 hwy. Not thrilled with that. I tow a travel trailer so I needed the heavy tire. Oh well...

Do you have pics of your truck? I'm looking at the same tire and size, I'd love to see how it looks.

    17.5mpg average on 275/65r20 Pirelli Scorpion AT+ (126s load) (Approx 34"x11")

That's mainly 80mph highway with lots of elevation change and some city driving mixed in

I'm in western Washington as well and I've been seeing a similar mpg (16.8). I wonder if that just has to do with the hilly terrain more than anything else.

I'm in Eastern WA (Spokane) and get around the same. It also could be our watered down E10 fuel. I seem to get better MPG when I fill up in Idaho or Montana.

Weight is a negligible effect compared to the weight of the whole truck. Rolling resistance is big factor, but unfortunately no one measures truck tires for this... so it's a guess.

No tire and wheel weight make a HUGE difference, especially in getting up to speed. Guaranteed a 60lbs set of wheels and tires (per corner) gets better fuel economy than a 90lbs per corner set
