No, I thought you had the anytime fogs mod so not the case then?

I guess you have the correct functionality, fogs can’t be used without low beam

In my video above, I have the easy fog light mod where I just ran a ground wire off the large fuse under the hood. I can't turn them off with the headlights on but I didn't need that functionality.

Ok sorry for the confusion, if you don’t have the anytime fogs mod then, all you mentioned is the correct functionality

    Truck off, everything off

Truck on parking brake on all lights OFF

Parking brake OFF DRL bright ON

LOW beam and FOGs ON DRL dim

High Beam ON DRL still dim FOGs off

This is stock functionality, I remember my fogs never turned ON without Low Beam with stock headlights

Ok, so @iHacker, I am confirming your last post. Let's forget about parking brake to simplify things - so assuming parking brake is off and flog light switch is always set to ON position. BTW, I forgot to mention I did not cut the grey wire, i.e. my amber DRL are still active and working in conjunction with the LED DRL

    My situation:
    1. Truck off, everything OFF
    2. Truck on, headlight switch set to OFF position: DTL ON, Fog lights OFF
    3. Truck on, headlight switch set to Parking light position: No change from above, DTL ON, Fog lights OFF
    4. Truck on, headlight switch set to Auto light position (daytime): No change from above, DTL ON, Fog lights OFF
    5. Truck on, headlight switch set to lights ON position (night scenario): Headlights ON, DTL DIMED, Fog lights ON

It's #3 above I am questioning. Before this mod I could use my fog lights with the headlights off if the headlight switch set to Parking light position, but now they only come on when the main headlights are running. Is this expected?

In the video, you showed in your previous post (red truck) it appears the person could operate his fog lights on and off with only the DRL on which doesn't seem to be the case for me. Is this a by-product of me keeping the amber DRL, because I believe in the video he does not have the amber lights running as DRL?

@harrydunn Thanks for the post on the grounding. I'm wondering if this would solve my problem of not being able to run the fog lights independently of the headlights. Do you know if this would work if you have your amber lights enabled as DRL as well?

Sorry, I'll save everyone another post. Sounds like what I'm describing is consistent with what should be happening.

So what is the "anytime fogs mod"? Is it what @harrydunn posted? Will this work even if your amber lights are enabled as DRL?

For clarification, I cannot run the fog lights with only the DRL's on. When the fog lights kick on in my video, I am actually rotating the stalk one notch forward to turn on my side marker lights, etc. You just can't tell that in the video. Is that what you're asking?

The way I did it is the quick and easy way. I believe there is another, more involved method floating around.

Yes your functions are normal, if you want the fogs ON without headlights definitely is another mod but don’t have experience doing such thing, and yes the ground shown in @harrydunn picture can do that, an also a jumper jumper under dash of pink wire and a gray wire.

Yes, this is the functionality I am looking for. I don't necessarily want the fog lights to be on all the time, but I want to be able to run the fog lights by keeping the fog light switch ON and rotating the main headlight switch to the "parking lights" mode or side marker lights on as you mention - (headlights still off).

The method I used above will work just fine for that. The fog light switch can be turned off actually and the fogs will still be turned on when you rotate the stalk to just the parking lights. It takes away manual control of the fog lights.

Thanks @iHacker, I'll try and search for a mod that references "jumper under the dash of pink wire and a gray wire" now that I know this will work with the amber DRL option enabled. I appreciate @harrydunn's example, but I would love a cleaner approach that's under the dash as I know when I take it back in for service they will give me grief over that implementation.

Yes @harrydunn picture is the easy way to do the anytime fogs mod

But here’s is the not so easy way to do it and is under dash

    Read the attached PDF file

Keep in mind, I'm putting the box back on over the fuses. It fits just fine. I've never received grief from my Toyota dealer when in for service but I suppose you could. I prefer to not mess with the under dash wiring. That's where you can really jack some stuff up! Ha.

After reading that pdf, I'm starting to remember why I decided to do it the easy way without snipping any wires. Ha!

One last thing, when I shot video of the lights on they appeared fine with the naked eye but in the video, they appear to be streaming LED's.
Anyone else experience this? Maybe its just my phone?

Yes but function a bit different, they will turn ON automatically with DRL not switched

    Here are the photos.

Good point about messing with wiring @harrydunn.

"fun" fact: My dealership ripped out my ad-on aux power I ran to the bed last year when they were replacing a quarter panel due to an accident because they said it wasn't done correctly. I had to fight with them to take it to an electrician to replace and have them pay for it. FYI, the auto electrician did it the same way I did.

Now that I have the much brighter LED headlights, I'll probably remove my anytime fog light jumper wire from the fuse box.

Does anybody know how the factory 2018 LED fogs compare to the XB's I have?

Is a most, I have the Morimoto XB Fogs they work nice and have better output than stock 2018 LED fogs

I don’t have pictures but they are completely different, 2018 LED Fogs have good output but not defined like the XB fogs that’s why I’m keeping my XBs
