I have a 2001 AC, 4.7 V8 and I want to level the front end. (don't like the droop snoot). No off-roading involved, just regular roads and highways. According to the build sheet it came with the TRD off-road suspension package. I was figuring the least expensive way was to put in a set of 2" spacers. However, when I search for 2" spacers for it there is this disclaimer:

"Does NOT fit tundra Rock Warrior model or TRD suspension"

Why? I understand that includes Bilstein shocks and progressive rate springs but that shouldn't matter, should it? So what's different or is the warning bogus for an 01?

Half a yard of dirt never hurt nobody...1/4 yard if you've got the miles on it.

jokes aside, my cap & bed floor & dog platform, 3-400lbs, leveled my truck pretty nice, and the 6112/5100 (no lift) handle everything the roads can throw at it with finesse and composure.

    leveled is leveled.

Add 320lbs for me & my dog & it holds up to a bubble level on the rockers & crossmembers.

2WD or 4WD? That's pretty fucking important info any time you're asking for advice on this forum.

    That's aplenty.

Looking to save money and not buy total garbage, but lift in a way that's not to many people's likings and should be avoided? $160 + tax/ship

Puck it: Want to do it right and refresh up front, improve your ride? ~$560 + tax ship

    5100 + 2883: https://www.1stgenoffroad.com/store/p626/Bilstein5100/OMELift.html#/

If you want a truly bolt-on experience with the latter, you can pay Josh an extra $189.99 and he'll fully assemble everything properly, all you gotta do is swap it in, still out the door under $800.

Personally? You're still creating geometry changes using pucks. If your current front struts are more than 80k-100k miles old, you really should just do this once, and buy 5100s. You're getting WAY BETTER suspension and paying such a minimal amount to have it.

On Access cab V8/4WD, 2883 spring will get you near-level, with a hint of slight rake, about 1.25"-1.5" lift . 2884 will get you nearly perfectly level, potentially sitting a hair high in the front at first, but it should settle out to be level. 2885 spring will leave you sitting high in the front with an access cab. Basically each spring increment (2883>2884>2885) typically bumps folks up 0.5 - 0.75" depending on cab and drivetrain type.

Be really hard pressed to improve the ride on this baby. Due to a lower ball joint bust at about 65k there's only about 30k on the front suspension. According to the records, everything right down to the axles, all 4 balljoints, the LCAs, suspension, tierods, and swaybar links were replaced so that's all good to go. I'm just trying to understand why the above quoted warning. I can't imagine the towers would be different so what could be the reason?

This is implying to me that this is a kit for a second gen when they started the rock warrior package.

The spacers are listed as applicable to 2000-2006 Tundras (1st gen) hence my question about TRD suspension, not Rock Warrior.

spacers are trash. Get some 5100's and Old Man Emu 2883's and be done with this nonsense.

No, 5100's and/or 2883's would impact the ride while the effect of the spacers on the ride would be negligible. I thought I explained this before but I can see we're spinning our wheels. I asked a simple question and got lots of replies but no answer. Thanks for trying.

Spacers add load to your shocks and springs. They effect ride quality.

the reason they say "do not add spacers" is most likely due to the shock and spring combo being designed with a particular spring rating/stroke of the shock. Adding a spacer will affect those and will cause premature failure of your front struts.

there's a reason if you search "why no spacer lift" on YouTube there's TONS of videos on why these are bad regardless of usage.

You can do 5100's and the stock springs and use the perch system(it's the same a spacer lift but in reverse) and at the very least Bilstein doesn't recommend against it. So you got that going for you

finds junk lift which mentions a Rock Warrior, a trim not even available until an entire generation later of Tundra
wants advice on said junk "lift"
doesn't like advice. which is all the same from multiple experienced people and even links a product similar to original idea
takes ball and goes home calling everyone names

I didn't realize you were serious. Now I see what you just wrote, you are serious.

Spacers will impact geometry, thus will impact your ride, it won't be negligible. This explains why (see the quote from @des2mtn and then the image I posted).

If you don't understand lift types and pros/cons, check this. For some intelligently broken down pros and cons, check this.

It's not that we're spinning wheels here. It seems more likely you're stubborn and/or refusing to listen. Just like on the head units topic in the other thread. You want to tell a guy that competed in IASCA comps back in the day he's wrong or off-base somehow. Boggles my mind.
