I want the bench but like others have said you should be able to get the 38 gallon tank with it.

Were there any years that had the bench and a telescoping steering wheel? That's the other option I'd miss with a bench on the new ones.
I've heard they don't move much but I'm tall and like to sit further back. I usually find most trucks/cars could use some more adjustment.

My strap to get the extra storage up fell below the seat and now the extra storage is stuck. Does anyone have a solution?

Shove your hand in there and lift it up. I push my strap down intentionally so no one knows there is storage there.

I have a bench in my 21 CM SR5 and absolutely love it. I needed the extra seat for the family and i love the steering column shifter. Dealer said its a very rare model. It does suck about the smaller gas tank but it isnt the end of the world. Never been a fan of sports car like console shifters in trucks anyway.

My 2016 SR5 double cab has a bench. I didn't care that much either way. I put a gun safe in the storage compartment under the middle seat, most thieves wouldn't know to look there which I like. I don't normally have passengers in the front center seat (although the grandson sat there once), so I have a plastic organizer/storage bin with 2 cup holders on the floor in front of the seat that I found at some auto parts chain store. When I bought the truck I didn't realize there was a 38 gallon tank option, so I added that myself.

Can anyone point out a thread or a diy video of how to convert center console to bucket seat? Without relocating the shifter. Just to simply allow my dog to sit next to me.

I picked up a 2018 CrewMax specifically with the bench seat, it was totally worth it to allow my two miniature schnauzers to sit on the center seat between myself and another passenger. Unlike with other brands the Crew Max bench seat retains two AC vents underneath it for the rear passengers, the tundra double cab bench seat does NOT have AC vents in the rear. I live in the valley of the Sun, it gets into the 120s here.

I do have some gripes with the bench seat, however my dog's paw on my leg makes up for all of these...

    1) I have a back injury and there is NO lumbar adjustment. I deflate the lumbar bag in every seat I've ever sat in ever. The bench sticks out into my lower back a little too much, which necessitates me to lean the seat's back forward 1 more notch than I would have in an adjustable captain chair.
    2) 99% of the time I have the middle seat up, so the $8 cupholder fix from autozone did the trick, velcroed it to transmission tunnel. The door cupholders are a joke.
    3) Since it's a bench that needs to be flat, there is no height adjustment. I'm 6'2" and can barely fit a fist between my skull and the roof, it's worse for my 6'7" brother but he doesn't touch. The relatively higher seat bottom puts my left elbow about a half an inch too far away from the door's armrest, where I would normally bear weight upon my elbow while gripping the wheel. On longer trips with the bench's middle armrest up (note: this surface sits higher than the door's armrest...), I have no place on the left or the right to rest either elbow. The lack of usable arm rests is forcing me to (have better posture?) hold the weight of my arms out in front of me, which is not very comfortable on 10+ hour trips.
    4) SR5 bench does not come in leather, like a F150 Lariat bench. I bought some Clazzio Gray Nappa Leather covers on black friday, they feel and look absolutely great. Cleaning up dog messes is significantly easier with leather, I just wish they were NOT perforafed when I spill my milk.
    20220116_152703.jpg

P.S. Tailgate is perfect bench for rinsing dirty paws.

Is that some kind of back support/pad/cushion? I already have memory foam padded leather covers. Extra thickness from the cover uniformly across the lumbar does not make it stick out any less.

I've been considering a Rango Dash mounting rack to RAM mount my cell Phone. I currently I have Velcro on the back of my cell phone case and just stick it to the Velcro on dash in Pic. Our bench seats have this nice flat trim piece between the cigarette outlets and transmission tunnel. I bet this area could be utilized to attach some RAM mounts in place of making holes in the dash.20220123_133208~2.jpg

No they are blocks that fit under your front seat brackets that raise the thigh area. Makes a world of difference.

I was having lumbar issues and the seat jackers greatly alleviated the strain and they do work with bench.

for phone storage I ended up with mob armor and it works well. Only downside is putting sticky on dash. I was a bit hesitant however it’s very functional and figured I can deal with any residual (if I take it off in the future) then. F2D22437-5929-4EE7-A938-1E10DA4AF063.jpg

The bench seat is something that I wish I had on my truck. The Tundra barely fits in my garage and I have to exit out the passenger side via going over the console. My wife thinks its hilarious, but it is way cheaper than buying a house with a bigger garage.

Would putting the truck in the garage opposite however you’re currently pulling/backing it in allow you to get out the driver door?

Anyone converted to a bench seat? It looks like the seats are the same, just not sure how to convert to column shifter.

My understanding is that it would be a very involved conversion. Best would probably be to find a wrecked truck and pull steering column, shift linkage, etc.

May have found a solution for the bursitis causing bench seat center arm rest!

not my best work but was short on time and wanted to try it out. First impressions are this May actually work!

Put this over in the 2.5 Tundra what have you done thread but had to retype don’t know how to repost.

I’m definitely in the minority that love the bench seat. Wasn’t looking for it specifically when I bought my truck (2007 DC XSP) but I’d be hard pressed to give it up. It’s plenty of storage for me plus I like the hidden storage and the option of the extra seat. The aftermarket kind of overlooks them but I tend to end up making my own mods anyway. I designed a phone holder a couple years ago and it’s one of my favorite things about my truck. One piece of aluminum held on by the headrest. Holds two phones and has a little space for pens, wallet, business cars, etc. I have it coated in bedliner now. I’ve been considering moving to a CrewMax but it will have to have a bench.

I specifically looked for the gen 2.5 column shift/bench seat. My prior Gen 2 tundra had the center console and it was immense. Wife and I agreed--no--moving forward.
If I find the need for the 38 gallon tank, I'll add it, but so far so good. Toyota should have included it.

It's disappointing they don't even offer a bench in the Gen 3 series.

Love my bench seat and column shifter in my ‘19 SR, feels like an older truck. It’s perfect for date nights, my girlfriend loves it, easier access for her lmao.
