Based on what I've seen I would thank God (were I you) for not having the JBL system. LOL All I hear is how crap it is.

Concerning the stereo, I'd agree, actually. Don't get me wrong - yes, I can get better quality by swapping out the radio, but honestly, it's not at all bad. I contacted James @ Tech12Volts to have him recommend a system for me; he recommended (and I bought) the JBL Stadium 5 to replace the factory amp, and Hertz speakers for the doors (as well as sail panels/tweeters for the front). I think it sounds absolutely fantastic.

    Nice looking truck, BTW!

Welcome. Should be a small amp under the passenger front seat. It's 9 speaker but the rear components tweeter seem non existent.

Welcome. I made the switch in 2016 from RAM to Toyota. Haven’t been to the dealer since for any issues. In the 4 years I had my ram sport I had more trips for warranty than I wanted to. Got annoying

Looked like at least a 2019 (new style) in one of the pictures.

Thanks everybody for the welcomes and comments on the stereo, color.

The Ram was the new 5th Gen, 2019, standard Hemi 5.7 Great truck when it was working well. After 2 trucks with lots of issues I'm hoping 3rd time's the charm here and am fully onboard with the old school, tried and true philosophy at this point. Valuing my time more than I used to, and don't want to spend it at the dealer or fixing things myself.

Welcome from CA! I took my wife on a test drive with a RAM, and she said something that caught me (not being a truck or car person) “It kind of seems like all of this flash is to cover up for some shortcoming…” that and the price, we moved along… but it was fun. Not $65,000 fun, but fun.

That's kind of the opposite of what my wife said, but about Tundras. "There's not a lot of fancy stuff inside the truck, but after seeing how it drives/moves, I totally understand why - the fancy stuff is in the build quality."

    Yep, pretty much.

I agree and she said the same thing, Kung. Call me crazy, but I kind of like the slow-step that Toyota has done with design over the past decade. You just don’t always have to change and update everything. I like it, simple or not. Sometimes they make stuff just weird trying to keep up. I especially like how pretty much interchangeable the model years are in the same generation. Adding more is pretty easy…since in 2010, a lot of things we just have today were not really there as much.

It would seem that the 5th Gen Ram is a well designed truck. The 3rd Gen Tundra is a well built truck.

I agree 100%, the new RAM’s are nice trucks with features and tech the tundra simply doesn’t have. Ride is best in the business but I, like you, value my time and got tired of sitting in the waiting room of the service department drinking spring water out of a styrofoam cup!
