Also, in that last picture you took it looks like the bed is starting to rot.

He is sending some more pictures. The dealer said it was in good shape and nothing alarming... he says he replaced the tank straps.. are those the same as the cross members?

Negative. I circled the tank straps in red and the cross member in blue. Excuse the child-like scribbles. I looked at the pictures again. I think the truck still has some life left in it if you're willing to spend some time up under it to do some rust control. But personally, I wouldn't buy that truck without being able to put my own eyes on it. It's just not worth the risk. Are you going to buy it sight unseen or drive over and get it?

Thanks! I asked for clearer pictures of the blue. I would put a deposit down and go pick it up. Wish the dealer put it on a life and didn't just poke under during the inspection!

Bring a screwdriver when you go and poke the frame a bit. We've had a few members get screwed when they bought a truck that had the frame sprayed only to find that the spray just hid all the rust. Did you get to actually speak to anyone at the dealership? It might be worth having your own inspection done. If the seller has nothing to hide I'm sure he won't mind. Good luck!

I had a 2.7 Tacoma with a 5 spd and no complaints on power...there is a reason ATs are called "slushboxes"....

Yes...the AT is a 4 speed...so one less gear and all the power robbing an AT does can make it seem much less powerfull than it is. My 2.7 with a five speed felt more powerful than my 3.4 with an AT below 3k rpm...

Honestly...that doesn't look to bad to me. If you put a deposit, just make sure it's refundable upon your inspection in person. The only rust I saw that gave me caution was what @FirstGenVol mentioned about the bed in his earlier post, so check that area good.

I once drove 14 hours to buy a Tundra from a rust belt state with a replaced frame...they sent me pictures of the replaced frame...but neglected to send me pics of everything else that was rusted...like brake dust shields disintegrating and nearly every nut/bolt in the engine bay rusted tight. I was blinded by the low miles, perfect ext/int and 1 year old frame. I turned around and drove home. 28 hours driving in about 32 hours...never again. Fingers crossed you have better luck than me that time...this truck's pics look much better than the truck I drove to see...good luck!
