During my Bully Dog install i noticed that my gas pedal wasn't getting full travel because of not only of the carprt but also the the interference from the Husky floor matts. From the pictures i was able to clearly see at least over 1/8" of the travel was not being used. Would appreciate it if someone with bettor knowledge of the system could correct me please.

    No pressure on pedal.

When i reinstalled the pedal i put a few washers on the studs to bring the out a little. The correct way would to be make up a spacer plate for full contact of pedal bracket to firewall, and possibly a little shave under the pedal itself.
Reminds me of the old saying STAND ON IT!

I hope so, someone with a little more electrical back ground could maybe put a meter on the unit.

It has been a belief of mine for some time that the engineers at Toyota have been working on gas pedal linkage to increase fuel efficiency.

Hard to say with the SC on now lol , i dont know if the throttle body will operate with just the key on, that would be a great way to check if it did.

I lost this thread after reading it for some reason so I started another to show my husky liner mod. What I'm thinking now is grinding the arch off the back of the pedal to allow more travel. But I'm sure there has to be a way to see if the pedal position sensor reads 100% when fully pressed. If it does then no need to mod.20180615_154920.jpg

This theory will need to be confirmed on the dyno.

Since the Tundra is designed with a computer controlled actuator at the throttle body (drive by wire), I’m thinking not.
Unless the pedal isn’t getting full range with the floor mat....

I would think a tech computer could tell. When we test Mercedes at work, there's a part of it that shows pedal angle at full throttle, then kick down[completely floored], then idle. If for some reason the pedal is bad or wiring damaged, it goes into limp which means idle.

On many PDK Porsche's, the kick-down is actually a button on the floor that changes gears at certain RPM's. Sport mode increases throttle response which basically means you have to push less to get the same gas flow as pushing more in non-sport. Neither of those actually increase horsepower, but faster throttle response can result in faster acceleration.

I'd be surprised if Toyota was limited by the travel, but this mod certainly cannot hurt so why not! If the butt dyno says it is faster - it is faster!

Agree! My butt dyno says I now have a 10 second truck.

I would wholeheartedly agree with you. My Mom has an 05 4Runner and my wife has a 16. Same powertrain in both yet the throttle response in the 05 makes it feel like a totally different car.

It is interesting and I would also like to see if there really is a difference. But, that being said, other than just an interesting experiment, I don't really see the need for this. I have owned my truck for about 10,000 miles and out of that probably not more than 1 mile total have I floored it. I rarely go over 4,000 rpm because that is plenty, and that is where it sounds the best; anything over that it starts screaming.
