Changing my shocks on my 2001 and the bolts R to L are different, neither is a flange bolt and the one came off real hard so I don't trust the threads. From what I can gather, the 900 at the start of the PN (90080-10124) indicates it's nothing special, probably a grade 8 10mm flange bolt, but I can't find the exact specs on it. Does any one know what it should be? I'm sure that the Toyota bolt probably has specific plating and maybe better corrosion resistance, but I'd rather not pay the Toyota tax for a standard bolt.

If I understand your post correctly, you need two of these for the lower mount of your shock, yes?

    And you want non-toyota? Yes?

Not necessarily, but I'm assuming, if I could understand the spec, that a non-toyota would be cheaper. I'm guessing it's an M10 thread, but I'm unsure of the length since the two that I have aren't the Toyota spec.

Both bolts I took off are M12 but one is coarse thread the other is fine. Both are 70mm long with about 30mm of thread. Home Depot has a class 8.8 M12 x 70mm for $4.75, but no flange head. I'd need a washer and a flange nut, so about $6 per side.

I'm going to call the dealer in the morning and see how much and if they're in stock. If they're not too much more, I'm just going to get the OEM parts.

Just remember that the dealer parts are "a la carte", and you'll have to specify and order the washer and nut too

    According to the Toyota EPC, You'd need 2x 90080-10124 bolts, 2x 94622-41400 washers, and 2x 90170-14026.
If I were in your shoes, I'd get the OEM hardware. You'd be at $25+tax roughly, but it would be the correct hardware. I am a paid OEM shill since I work for Toyota, so take what I say with a grain of salt.

I'm a design engineer for Honda, so I understand how a standard Toyota nut and bolt are superior to a run of the mill standard in terms of plating and corrosion protection. Odds are, however, at 310K this may be the last set of shocks this truck gets. We'll see if the dealer has them in stock. I need to get this truck back together for work on Monday

BTW, these are the ones I took out.

Yeah, those 1000% ain't it. Are the Toyota ones that expensive?

Edit: just looked them up. They are $3-6 each from the dealer.

Nut, bolt and washer is $27 from the dealer, Home Depot parts would be about $14. Dealer had to order them, but couldn't get the washer until next week. I'll be using Toyota nut and bolt and a home depot washer so I can get it done.

What are the part numbers, and roundabout what city are you closest to?

Just curious, because last time I had a number like that for hardware, I ended up finding a local dealership using the online Toyota Parts program that cost me 60% less starting the order online. Direct-from-dealership always costs 3x-4x as much with hardware.

It's weird though. Of my 5-6 nearby dealerships participating, only two (sometimes three) offer up significant hardware discounts. So after I put the p/n into the system, I need to click on each dealership to see their price, then click back, click the next, etc.

Anyway, if you have the bolt, I don't see any reason you can't run to the hardware store and find a matching bolt in Grade 8, or get the Toyota bolt and use a storebought nut.

If your dealership is anything like mine, you should see your parts next day unless they're on backorder. After taking a peek at the washers, it looks like all United States distribution centers have at least two on hand, with the exception of the Cincinatti DC.

Your dealer is ripping you off, but it is only $27. McGeorge has the bolt for $2.87 and lists the msrp as $3.76.

I guess if the washer and nut were also about $3-4, then all 6 items would total about $27 with tax and shit. I personally would not use Home Depot parts for this when the correct parts can be had reasonably, but the washer from HD is a flat piece of metal just like the washer from Toyota. Just make sure they are not dissimilar finished metals that would react with each other.

Honestly, even at $3.76 it's not a bad deal, considering the bolt is engineered/designed for the use.

Yeah, it was pricey, but it was less than $25 or something total for the bolt & nut and they were there next morning. I'm in Columbus OH, so I imagine they get served from Cinci, the one without the washers. And no dealer within 50 miles participates in the Toyota Parts Program, unfortunately.

I bought Home Depot 12mm washers, but, it turns out the bolts I took out were 12mm thread, the Toyota bolts are 14mm thread, so I had to go back an get 14mm washers. (And that means my truck was riding on too small bolts for how many years? :eek2:)

I should have measured the length and thread length before I put them in, but here they are.

A Dealership not having the parts you need when you need them is just part of the fun :p. Glad you were able to get it sorted though!
