    I should have the front of the truck done by then - not sure about the back so should be comparable. Have lots to do on the back still.

    It's all about shaft velocity vs damping force, and there are three basic curves.

    Progressive - get's harder to move the harder you hit it
    Linear - has the same damping force regardless of how fast the shaft is moving
    Digressive - get's easier to move the harder you hit it

    This page on ShimRestackor is kinda like my bible when it comes to explaining the differences, benefits and drawbacks of each curve.

    In our particular case, we went with digressively valved bypasses. This means that in the ride zone (middle 6-7 inches of travel) we have a very compliant and digressive shock profile. This section of the shock zone can move very rapidly when hitting washboard and bumpy or rocky sections up to about 5" high. The truck just floats over it at speed and feels flat and controlled in corners.

    The upper and lower zones of the shock have more resistance since the shock oil is no longer bypassing the piston valves. This provides bottom out resistance usually only found on progressive shocks. Our damping force increases (progresses) in the bump and droop zones. However, if we run our ride zone too open and soft, the suspension will blow right through it and not be moving slowly enough for the bump zone to resist bottoming out. It's all about shock tuning for your terrain (hence my undying love for clickers no matter what anyone else says). If we're going to bomb whoops, I close all the bypasses and mash like a teenager on bath salts. If we're going to trail run some bumpy washboardy shit, I open them up to make the ride comfy, and watch for hidden washouts.

    Kevins truck is very soft and comfortable over chop. Similar to mine. And the tires soak up some of the bigger stuff.

    But he runs out of travel quickly. No way it will do big whoops or deal well with trail surprises. I also got a quick ride in Roys LC. Same thing, nice and soft. Icon strong point is comfort, but you have to stay on trail thats within the travel zone of the suspension. Get on some bigger stuff or hit a wash too fast and its going to hurt

    That said, I've got my ride zone set soft on my bypasses and The Truck is just as soft as Kevins over the chop. But I can still take big hits because I'm running huge stacks that kick in when I get deep in the stroke.
