I am strongly considering some kind of FWC possibly. I would say most units (not Project Ms of course) easily weigh in at 1300+ once you add water, awning, batteries. etc. While I know I would want to add some suspension mods to carry the weight, has anyone on here felt the need to regear for this kind of weight? Any input is appreciated.

I went with Alcan Springs out of Grand Junction. I sent him the empty and loaded weights of the truck, told him I wanted 2.5-3" lift and he nailed it. It's been on the truck permanently for just about three years and rides like a dream.

I'm also on 35's (or just a hair under).

How are you liking the double fans setup? Would you buy again with that setup? We're in the SE and trying to decide if its must have since FWC is the only pop up with double fans as an option.

I bought my Grandby used and it only had the single fantastic fan. We found that we got a lot of condensation at night so I went ahead and had a second vent installed without the fan. That works great. Would definitely recommend going with two if you're ordering a new camper.

Yeah, Alcan is definitely the way to go I think. I had Deavers on my Tacoma & while they did well, there is no way I am building this truck without the suspension being dialed for exact weight & use this time and I just don't like the idea of airbags being a possible point of failure even if it means my truck is a little stiff when the camper is off.

@Drainbung when you say "empty & loaded", were you referring to camper on and camper off or just camper on, but not loaded up for a trip w/ water etc.?

    Thanks for the input everyone.

I weighed the truck without the camper, full tank, and normal everyday gear. Went home loaded the camper with a our "regular" gear, didn't fill the water tank but had the 5 gal jug in and reweighed. Sent Alcan the weights and that I wanted 2-3", he did the rest. I even drove over and let them install those heavy bastids.

I love the truck and build out. Currently waiting on mine to be delivered. In the meantime I’m trying to plan my build as well. Is there anyway you could provide the measurement between the shelves that sit on the bed rails? TIA

Sorry for the late response, I barely on here often nowadays. I'll get the measurement for you. When you are expecting to get your Project M?

    Can't wait to see it.

I am on Deavers U748's with 5.29 gears and 37's. Preparing for the project M. Any potential issues or things to improve before I put that sucker on?

It's about 4.25" in the center of the roof, and 5.75-6" near the outside edges. My prinsu rack clears it easily so I bet yours will too

This weekend was the first trip with the Truma heater I recently installed. Used very little propane over three nights and kept me warm so I was happy to have it! I'll share some more interior pics when I finsh up my cabinet build.

This was over in the Mower Basin area. I have a close friend in VA and we also meet up in WV. I lived in Maryland for a while and Harpers Ferry was one of our favorite spots.

Somehow I missed your question, sorry! I ended up buying it new off of a seller on Ebay that was in Austrailia. The price was about average from what I could tell. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow. I'm still finishing up the cabinet build to cover up the whole unit.
