Thank you for the nudge. I'll get the parts ordered so they'll be here when the truck arrives. Anything else you'd suggest I do immediately just based on the age alone? Seals, gaskets, plugs, wires, fan clutch, radiator? I'm a big fan of preventative maintenance

You need to assess the condition. Valve covers are probably leaking. Just to a great big once-over, or post a bunch of pics for everyone to put eyes on, couple shots around the top of the engine, a few under the front from the fender corners and under the doors, and a few more from under the rear corners, and from the doors. this should give us the brunt of what we'd need to see.

The Giants will be home 30 and 31, if you want to catch a ball game in SF. The stadium is beautiful and parking next door is a quick walk for the wife. You can take her to the Ghirardelli chocolate store/factory nearby as well. Lots of good food, but parking can be hard to find and make sure you don't step on any shit. Golden Gate bridge is a cool little drive, so is the Bay Bridge...I think both are toll roads though. Battery Spencer, Golden Gate Lookout and Baker Beach are good spots to get pics of the bridge. As long as its not foggy.

Have been helping to look for @EyeSpyA1stGenTundra and @a_tundra. We agreed to keep looking until all three of us had found and bought a truck. Some good ones have been posted these last several days, most have sold quickly

Some of the areas of interest we've marked, half of them are food! Won't have time for but a part of them I'm sure. Any good spots to see whales nearby? Have never seen a whale in the wild, non-human anyway. Frisco.jpg

    highly recommend going here. https://www.redsjavahouse.com/menu

visited like.....5 years in a row when the Milwaukee Brewers were in town against the Giants (had some great friends living in Berkeley at the time and we'd meet up for series) - we would always hit up Reds after the game/before the game. Such a great spot for a burger and a beer.

Giving all service records to a trusted mechanic and paying for inspection would be my MO (is that what you mean by getting a "clean bill of health" prior to purchase?). To answer your questions directly... I'd not be in hurry to change plugs or coil packs if it's running well and gas mileage is where it should be, but changing all the fluids would be high on my list absent service records. Don't be surprised if you're told it's time for a new radiator. You don't want the pink milkshake...

Enjoy your time in California. Napa is a gorgeous area as are so many places in N California. Wife and I recently visited (parent in the Bay Area at base of Mt Diablo).

Me and Coondog out for a walk after an unusually heavy rain (base of Mt Diablo).

    I'm in SF often.

Ghirardelli is good as mentioned above.

Pier 39 is a major tourist spot and if you like crab/seafood, the fog harbor restaurant on the pier has the best clam chowder and calamari I've had in the SF area.

Really good prime rib at the house of prime rib, unfortunately they are like a year out on reservations, so if you want to try it you'll have to line up before they open and/or wait for a table.

Hillstone restaurant not too far from the pier has good food. Great smoke salmon appetizer, Hawaiian ribeye, decent ribs.

Taqueria El Buen Sabor near mission has my favorite burrito and great hot sauce/salsa. Sometimes a bit too spicy but worth the burn. Walking distance from it is a place called dandelion chocolate that makes their own bars but has a selection of chocolate drinks and desserts. My favorite is the frozen hot chocolate and my family likes the european drinking chocolate (basically melted chocolate, super thick but tasty).

If you want some sushi or chinese recs lmk.

Get lunch at In-n-Out. Might check out Napa Valley. In Sacto, check out old town, Sutter’s Fort and head up to Marshall gold discovery site and perhaps Tahoe.

Im gonna gain some weight on this trip. Some of the restaurants I marked as sounding good in San Fran are: Cheese Board Collective Pizzeria, Julie's Kitchen, Holy Nata, HK Lounge Bistro, Deli Board, Dumpling Time Design District, SF Kebab, Tartine Bakery, Za'atar, Z & Y Peking Duck, Tony's Pizza Napoletana, The Coffee Movement, Collina, Limoncello, and yes In-N-Out Burger.

Clearly not going to be able to eat them all but, gonna do my best! Any of those known to you?

The guy I'm buying the truck from lives in Napa. (It isn't his truck but belongs to his wife's grandmother and he's selling for her). Apparently one of his friends is the groundskeeper on the estate of a guy who owns a lot of car dealerships in the area and we've been invited to go there Sunday afternoon. Supposed to have a very impressive car collection and an up high view of the city.

Our hotel for Wednesday night in in old town so will definitely get to check that out. The least exciting part of the trip will probably be Vacaville but, there is a highly rated Indian restaurant in the parking lot of our hotel I'm looking forward to trying.

We have friends in Calistoga, tehcnically in the valley. I was there a couple years back and was posting 1st gens I found there. They're everywhere.

We ate at quite a few restaurants in town. I don't necessarily go bonkers over Italian or anything, but Bricco was exceptionally good IMHO. Understand, I eat just about anything. I especially love weird shit and foods a lot of other people who look like me don't typically eat, but that was some really solid Italian. That's coming from someone that's spent a fair bit of time in Italy, eating everything from holes-in-the-wall to shit you read about in Food & Wine.

Have to agree, Italian is overrated. I'll eat it, but it's way down on my list of preferred spots. That being said, the gf loves it; probably because its bread and pasta (more bread).

I'd say that, but I love Italian desserts, and if you've never had a fried pizza before, which is classic Napoli street food, dude ... you're missing out. There's a place here in ATL that makes it legit, like you get it over there, restaurant called Varuni Napoli. So damn good. Anything with cinghiale or polpo, any of the woodfired meats, I'm in.

I haven't been to ATL in years, probably 18 of them. Whenever Arkansas played Florida for the SEC championship and Reggie Fish lost us the game on a muffed punt. Wonder where little Reggie is these days, far from Arkansas anyway.

Yeah, not sure I'd bother coming here. 24 years here, I'm done. Food is top notch, some of the people are awesome, the cultural variety is second to none, and I love all the natural resources in NW GA. But the majority of the people, the traffic, the shitty drivers especially, the attitude that's developed over the last decade or so, it's getting to be too much to handle.

Come to AR, we've got everything a man could want and have the lowest cost of living in the country. Unless it's clean 1st gen Tundra you want, have to go out of state for that.

You may have seen me on TV that night, I was the G in HOGS and the A in DMAC

    Only Tartine.

A better pizza spot is about 30 mins south of SF, state of mind slice house. My cousin's favorite is Vesta, about 20 mins south.

If you want to see the Redwoods-about 4-5 hours North of SF on the 101 your in the Red Woods. Go to Founders Grove right off the 101, free parking and a great easy walk thru some of the largest Red Woods. About a 45 minute level walk and 45 minutes south of Eureka. Worth the drive and I'm not a city guy so I would pass on SF.

You'll love the truck both my children have Gen 1s, my daughter is on her 2nd Gen 1 needed a DC for the kids. I have a 2nd Gen, got tired of looking for a 1st Gen as I like the size better on Gen 1s.

We're under contract on a century house in midcoast Maine, so unless the winters are too damn cold, looks like I'll be spending a lot of my time up there in the coming years.

But hey, you share a state with @KNABORES which is cool!

I have a friend in Maine, there laws seem to be really backwards. Not sure if that or the winters would make me leave first.

Where do you live @KNABORES ? Im in Hot Springs but get up towards LR for work on the regular

I tend to agree about cities but it seems a shame to be so close to SF and not check it out. That and my dad and I have been planning a trip to check out the redwoods together for years, wouldn't want to go without him.

Speaking of dad, he has a gen 2 as well. Have to agree, its bigger than I like. Gen 1 seems like the sweet spot if you dont use your truck to tow heavy loads on the regular
