For those with Decked/Shell/extra weight, what's your rear setup?

Yup, you're in a better spot though. If you drop the front 1", that's going to already reduce the look of your sag in the rear. I'm goin up 2", and hoping that my coachbuilder +2 is going to be enough to compensate. Lots of variables for me too lol. I may just keep it at 1.5" on the Elka 0-2" and see what size tire I can wedge in there.

There’s a lot to unpack here ......but here it goes....... Yeah I’m contemplating now. I brought my truck into work and measured everything again on a level concrete pad.
I reduced airbags to the 5 psi min and I’m 1” lower in the rear.
    Rf 40.5
    Lf 40
    Rr 39
    Lr 39
With 20 psi in the airbags I can reduce the rake to 1/4”
40+psi and it’s close to level.

I’m pretty much between the Toytec 2.5 IFP front and rear or the Elka 2.5IFP.
On Elka website you can have it tuned for weight and suspension components. Haven’t seen that option with toytec although I read in here they are rebranded Elkas. If that’s true, that saves like $600.00 Elka hasn’t replied yet. Sending email to headstrong since they sell both Dobs and Elkas.
I looked at OME and DOB’s leafs.
OME 2.5 lift. Haven’t found weight capacity. $578.00 still researching.

Dobinsons L59-129-r-4 +2 says it’s heavy duty for medium loads with a 2.25” lift
The other part#121 is for heavy constant loads of 400+ for same lift height.
    $490.0

I haven’t written off Alcan but with shipping it’s twice the cost.
I’m going to call Sacramento Spring on Monday and see what it is for a custom set as well.

I could go two ways. OME or Dobs and skip the coach builder shackle since I won’t need a lift.
But at 2” in the front with Elkas it puts me at a 2” rake. But I think with my current airbags at 5 psi and daystar cradles , I probably have an inch of lift. I’m kicking myself for not measuring prior to install. But it’s definitely less sag than before install.

As said earlier in someone’s reply , I can nix the airbags altogether. I think this plus Dobs or OME will only give me a 1.25” lift, theoretically, which should be perfect.
Second option is custom springs, no lift, and use shackles. I just need to do more digging as I’ve heard not all leafs /shackles will clear or work with aftermarket rear shock clearance.

phew I’ll get there. More emails , more calls.
Trying to keep it under 3k but perform nice for road and medium off road duty.

My experience with Dobinsons is don’t go by the numbers. Talk to an American supplier who has experience with installations and applications for Tundras. The heavy leaf pack is more than enough for my FWC and my truck weighs 7400 lbs when it’s on there! I would guess their medium load Rear springs would be just right for most Overlanding/moderate loaded applications. So I have a 5/2 leaf pack and think the medium is a 4/1. Stock is 3/1 I believe. I would not go by there weights. As my load is over 1000 pounds with no rear sag. Unloaded it rides like a 3/4 ton with approximately 3” of rear lift. 7C86CDFC-0F2D-4F22-AF9E-F823F9B7B7C4.jpg

That’s good to know. I read your earlier post about the mediums , but now the context makes more sense.

Do you know how much the HD and Med leaf packs lift the truck? I can't seem to find it on Dobinsons website.

55mm or 2.25” but the heavy lifts higher when there’s no load. They both have the same planned lift I believe. But the heavy has some extra height to account for heavy loads. So I’d say the lift is 55mm or 2.25” with the camper, but a bit more without it. I’ll try and take a pic soon with the camper off. Truck is pretty raked even with a 2.25” or 55mm of lift in the front. Nothing extreme but more than you’d want if you weren’t planning a heavy load. And I haven’t measured I’m just eyeballing.

@NoRcptn I find you once again solving the issues I know I will run into. Sub'd for future information. Also if you do remove your bags I will buy if I haven't purchased them before that point. Running the same cap as yourself and just one hesitant finger pull away from ordering the Decked kit I will also find myself in a similar predicament. However in the next few years I plan to get a smaller end dual axle travel trailer. Knowing the intended purposes in the future ought to save some mistakes in the present. Good luck to you sir, our futures depend on it!

Yeah I’ve been there, I reccomend weighing your truck at a truck stop for $12 so you actually know how much weight you’re carrying. I’m over 7,400lbs with the camper on and loaded up. Without me in it.

For anyone with questions about the Elka's, heard back from them ( they referred it to ishock.com)......

Suggested the 2.5IFp 2"-3" is plenty for what I'm doing. Suggested the long travel rears for the setup as well. When ordered they spring, tune and valve the shock to whatever specs you want, and from what I understand, that's included in the purchase price.

They are recommending UCA's though even for 2" lift. Don't really know if it's totally necessary yet, but from what I've been reading the handling and tracking is much better with them, even at only 2". More reading and searching on Tundras.com to follow . lol

Here's the number if any of you have questions on Elka's and Toyota's.

Damn. Did they go into any detail for the 0-2" RR with DCA? Hoping to get some insight to ride quality if its set at 2".

No, but to be fair I only asked about the the 2.5 IFP vs the RR for Camping/fireroads with 90% on road. FWIW they were extremely responsive with email. From the conversation I had, it sounds like they can make it however you want.
I was reading about people buying Kings and fox and then sending them in to be tuned for their application. Same kind of thing , they just do it up front for your application. I got the feeling with extra weight they were leaning towards the 2-3". But they also said they'd spring the fronts however you want.

I can't see how you could pass up a decked system with a travel trailer :) Always awesome to have more storage.

Just re-reading some of the posts and setups. I never thought about the slider weight as well. Yeah gotta figure that future addition in as well. No wonder my gas mileage sucks. Thats a lot of weight ;)

I’ve gotten a lot of information from you guys on this thread. My decked system just showed up at the dealer, got a Leitner ACS headed my way. Plan on a small cargo trailer in the next year or so for ATV’s and Home Depot runs for house remodeling. The truck is also my everyday go to work and kid/dog hauler. Not fully sold on lifting, seem to see a lot of issues with the TSS in the 18’s vs later years, don’t fully understand that. I’m thinking just a set of Firestone bags and cradles, once I see how much squat it has with the added weight.

I have a 2018 crewmax with a canopy and decked system installed. I also have toytec shackles and shocks. I also was not happy with the sag in the rear. Read a ton of reviews and went with the Firestone bags with the Daystar cradles and couldn’t be happier. The ride is still very comfortable. Easy to install as well.I installed everything myself, let me know if you have any questions happy to help.

I considered this as a solution for a bit but didn’t want to loose any aspects of the silky smooth pro ride, either on or off road. Air bags are basically just giant adjustable bump stops and will definitely impact off-road articulation

Google Daystar cradles , they essentially make it so your suspension has full travel. And I have not noticed much change in the ride. If anything the little to no change was worth having my truck ride level no matter what weight was in the rear.

Nope, no way full travel. Full droop but you’re limiting up travel. If you see a pic of the setup you’ll understand. airbags are usually unnecessary imo. They are convenient, cheap, band-aids. May rile some people up. Also I’m mechanically sensitive and ride around with the heaviest of springs. I just drive faster to make them comfortable... 7D5A8BCB-A4BC-4F35-9F2E-C4205F99BE6D.jpg

Just an opinion. And obviously I haven’t tried them or experienced all the uses. Don’t give up so easy! I’m sure they have their place. Not like -44offset with spacers

Yup my sliders are huge. They’re sick and worth it though! Girls keep falling out of the truckstill? Maybe they’re running away. This is with front lift and rear with 1” block6C5059FB-A93A-4096-A8DE-868326217AB2.jpg

A lot of information here but I have a question or two.....I am getting a Leer XR cap in a few weeks, back order, should I be worried about the suspension on my 2020 DC Sport? I do not go four wheeling or anything like that? Not sure of the weight of it.

And will sometimes pull a small aluminum m/c trailer with about a 700 pound bike? I'm assuming it will be okay but this if my first Tundra.
    Thanks, Dave

It's not a bad way to go or even to start and see how it rides and performs for you. Usually most people go lift for either or both of:
-Looks (which includes bigger tires, aesthetics, etc)
    -Performance.

If you like the way it rides stock and the way it looks.Your stock rake may hold it all perfectly level. If you find a little bit of sag and don't like the look or performance after that, the airbag system is an easy fix for random varied loads (home depot run, landscape gravel, occasional trailer).
I think Les Scwab even sells and install the kit for under 500.00. No experience with Les Scwab though.

I think the height difference raising the front throws off the radar sensor in the TSS. Ive read about relocation brackets or adjustment. No experience with it. MY front end is 3" higher and works fine on my '17.

Mine is a straight up work truck setup for working from.

Part of my work is long cross country drives to get to the jobs often with a trailer on the way there and a crammed full truck alone on the way back.

I have an ARE Commercial Shell which is pretty heavy and it is loaded with tools and supplies, there is a full 8' Bedslide which is pretty heavy and on top of it an RV 2 drawer Fiberglass tray unit also loaded with tools.

Mine is a stock setup on Falken Wildpeak P Metric Tires in stock size and all I know for sure is that the more weight I load in the better my ride pretty much without exception.
