Single stack, I want something light, small, easy to conceal, and not be as heavy as a brick.

Double stack CZ-75 with spare mag. Because I can. Really, I don't care if it was 5 shot, it's the weapon I'm the most comfortable with, I trust the most and I can shoot accurately when aiming and hit what I need to when pointing.

Double stack. I'm carrying my PDP F-Series 3.5" everywhere when I'm not at home. It's thick as a brick but the ambi controls and ease of operation make up for it (for me) I
also have a 'regular' PDP Pro 5" that stays at home. I'm using the Pro's 18 round mag in my F-Series and so far, even tucked, no concealment issues. Next pistol for me will be Walther's new F-Series Pro in 4" It comes equipped with the same great trigger that's on the PDP Pro full size. 147 Grain 9mm 'calms' the F-Series down noticeably, so that's my defense and practice round.Resized_20231127_044657001.jpg

As long as I have at least 6 or 7 rounds, capacity isn't a big concern. I was carrying a small single stack, but found one of the new micro 9 that I shoot better, was the same size as my old single stack, and it just happens to have about twice the capacity. The extra capacity is just an added bonus, but not a major driver in the decision.

What a debated topic. Some of my buddies and I can argue about this for a good minute. One of my friends loves his 1911 cambered in .45 ACP and all he carried in combat. Another one (and this is my opinion too) liked the higher capacity 9mm. Some think the 9mm isn't a good round. Trust me, you shoot someone twice with a 9mm and they will change what they are doing.

What we all agreed on was a pistol was for short bursts to get the M4 back operational.

I go for size for my carry. I wear a lot of fitted shirts and I don't want someone to be able to tell in carrying. I carry a P365 with a 12 rd mag.

I'm not too concerned with capacity because I carry multiple guns with me. 13 rds on me plus a couple of back ups if I make it to my vehicle.

    This is the way.

Find something that lets you get lead downrange and on target in a hurry. And practice with it. Try and jam it. Get out of the jam.
Shove some belly button lint in there and see if it still cycles.

(I've yet to induce a jam on my P365x for what it's worth, nor a G19 prior to that - limp wrist, off hand, single hand, etc).

I carry/train with what I'm comfortable with; a 1911. Depending on which one I carry I have 8/9/10 round mags at the ready and always keep a spare on me.

Sig P365 person in 9mm here. It's small enough to easily carry, I can hit my target and it has decent capacity. I typically carry with a 10 round mag with the pinky extension.

Capacity comes 3rd behind being able to comfortably conceal and carry a weapon and also being able to land my shots on target with reasonable expectations.

To answer the question, 10 rounds falls into the good enough category for me. I can also carry a spare mag.

Depends... are you in area prone to large violent protest or are you just hoping to defend yourself from one assailant?

Rarely just one or two these days. For vehicle thefts there is usually one locked and loaded waiting by the closest exit of the home, and two others.

I was caught up in the only freeway shutdown in my city. Just so happened when my oldest daughter was with me (10 at the time) and a trailer with my crawler. I had her jump in the back seating area, handed her three Glock 17 mags and told her to give them to me when needed. Nothing happened and it was cleared out rather quickly.

I carry single stack because I find it easier to conceal. If a self-defense situation requires more than 5-6 rounds, it's probably a bad enough situation that a double stack wouldn't make a difference. That said, if you like the double stack, are proficient with it, and it's concealable enough for you, then by all means carry that. Carry what you practice with; practice with what you carry.

I swear my CZ's feel like they were made from a mold of my hands.

If I pick a spot on the wall across the room, then close my eyes and bring the weapon up to my mind's eye of that spot, it's gonna' be in a hand-sized area around that spot.

For me personally, by far the most intuitive, naturally pointing pieces in my collection (1911 being a very close 2nd)

That's one of the reasons there's an SP-01 on my nightstand, and a P-01 if I need something a lil' smaller or concealable. Neither has ever jammed, failed to feed or eject, nada.

Probably why they're on the top row in this picture too, now that I think about it.

Definitely agree with the above statements about practice and familiarity. I think you can have both capacity and concealment with many newer single stack 9mm. IE: Shield Plus (my preference).
