I looked and may have just missed it, but I'm looking for opinions and guidance on LED fog lights to upgrade from my 2018 LED fogs that came (I think) as part of my TRD Offroad upgrade option package in 2018.

The current lights create a fairly bright but indistinct puddle that extends out and forward about 20-ish feet. I would say they are "okay".

I do have to contend with heavy fog, heavy rain, and sometimes snow, and I feel like there are probably upgrades that will blow the doors off of the factory set up.

I would like to see further forward. I would be fine going with amber, if that offers improved vision in shitty conditions.

What do you think? What have you had or seen that really impressed you?

My Diode SS3 Pro SAE are awesome. The only problem, which isn’t limited to the SS3 pods, is that the factory housings suck and you’ll get shudder when you hit bumps. I was able to fix some of it with strategically placed zip ties, but it wasn’t ideal. @memario1214 can give his recommendations on the latest and greatest out there, since I know DD and BD have both come out with new offerings since I was in the market.

    Too many, but not enough....
You want then to fit in the oem round housing or are you willing to change those? You could go with the oem rigid from the trd pro or rigids sae fogs which I have. You can add lens covers in amber if you want to, they are removable.

    Thanks you guys!

MadMax, can the amber lenses be changed without removing or disassembling the lamp from the bumper? That sounds ideal.

As far as whether to stick with the factory housing or change, I'm willing to change, but would hope it would come as a full kit so I don't have to improvise.

Yes it can, assuming you don't have the pods sunk in so the fronts are flush with whatever surround you go with.

I'm running the Baja Designs sae fogs. They have been excellent, and the customer service has been top notch. They are much heavier than the stock and can shake due to the factory housing.

Diode Dynamic SAE pros here, only set I have tried. Absolutely awesome, ai have been very happy with mine.

Like said above use good thick zip ties to assist in limiting or eliminating shakes. I have not had a issue and they have been in 2 years now

I'll see if I can find the video again but they compared the Rigid, BD, and one other (I don't remember if it was DD or not) but the Rigids were the winner among those models for most usable light output. I run 4 Rigid SAE's on mine.

I like that the lens are interchangable. Changed mine from Baja Amber to Factory Amber to match my grille lights

Another vote for BD Squadrons. I run sports in my fog locations with amber wide cornering lenses. About a quadzillion times better than the OEM LED fogs…

I don’t notice any shaking or wobble with mine.

I'll preface this with I really don't use my fog lights much.
I can't stand drivers that leave theirs on all the time.

After trying Rigid's crappy brackets on my 2014, I did this mod.
You can run about any Rigid D-series..
They won't shake or move at all.
Looks great using OEM TRD Pro bezels.

DIY RIGID TRD PRO Fog Lights Brackets | Toyota Tundra Forum

I've tried a few D-series fog lights; amber, SAE, and now LED pods.
I didn't care for the amber after a few months.
With the SAE I kept getting high beam flashes from oncoming drivers.
Granted my LED pod fogs are more for show than function, but it's not an issue since I rarely use the actual 'fog light' anyway..

The amber, I don't have a pic of the SAE.

The LED pods have LEDs in the corners that come on with my parking lights.
The actual fog lights are bright with a wider beam than the headlights, but nothing special.

I have a 2018 Limited with the Diode Dynamics clear Pro lamps, love them. They are a substantial difference from the factory fog lamps. I zip tied mine like everyone else and get no shaking. I think they are adjusted correctly as I don't get anyone flashing their brights at me but still feel guilty running them sometimes. Very happy with the change and was way easier to install than I thought they would be,

After watching too many GD fog light videos, I went with Baja Designs Squadron SAE. I also ordered the factory amber lenses. I'll post back after installation and use.

    Aaaaaand I'm back!

The Squadrons are installed and they look great.
    IMG_2514.jpg IMG_2516.jpg
However, I'm worried I chose the wrong lens. I got the factory amber cornering lenses, and the pattern is bizarre:
    IMG_2519.jpg
I cannot see the amber flood on the ground sitting in the cab. @Baja Designs Is there a way to adjust these, or do I need to pull them and put the clear amber lenses in?

I don’t have SAE Squadrons for clarification on your question, but I’d sure hope they do more than that! My Squadron Sports with wide cornering lenses are a million times more useful than that pattern if yours are doing what they’re supposed to.

I bet @Baja Designs can help with an answer!

On our SAE Model, the Reflector is what gives the pattern, and that is why all the SAE models come with a spot lens. The pattern you change them to is Wide Cornering so that's why it looks off. It's pretty much defusing the light x2. Also, want to highlight that the Factory Amber lens is not street-legal, and that is why we only offer them in Clear and Baja Amber on the website. If you have any questions please reach out to brahianh@bajadesigns.com

    Happy Holidays.

Good point on the Wide cornering lenses being the culprit. I didn’t even think about that! Maybe. Because I’m more familiar with the original SAE offering that was just an insert behind the lens.

Assuming when he puts the original lenses back in, that problem will be solved.

Problemo solved. What a difference. Note that the earlier pics have Christmas lights on. The BD fogs really do dump a lot more light on the scene.
