Have any of you dealt with this? I’ve lost backup guides and ability to select different camera views… my truck said trailer assist malfunction see dealer, but I haven’t seen it again for picture. I do have an error in the trailer menu but no idea what it is. It’s rainy pretty hard in Tennessee and I have no clue what this is. Does my truck think there is a trailer attached? I have never pulled a trailer. When I try to delete a trailer in the menu or add one it just goes to error. Could this be the rain???

I’m taking it to dealer this morning: it appears that rain may have penetrated the backup roof camera/sensor which is why it’s all jacked

FIXED: apparently hard rain on the 2024 Tundra can throw off sensors and requires a recalibration

Also have this trailer backup guide issue. Can this “recalibration” be done at home? Really don’t want to go to the dealer every rain storm….

Went to the dealer. Confirmed that I need a "calibration" fix. They didn't even know what the solution was. They needed to call their Toyota Tech support line to figure it out. They need my truck for AN ENTIRE DAY to do the calibration... Not ideal for a 2 month old truck. We'll see if this is a chronic problem.

In short, I had an error message pop up one morning on the dashboard side that said something like "Trailer Backup Sensor Malfunction. Contact Dealer". I'm not currently towing anything, so what this meant was that I lost my backup camera "guide lines" which turn depending on how I turn the steering wheel. I believe I also lost some of the yellow/red proximity sensor animations. We'll see if they end up fixing it next week. Will report back and hopefully help others.

I'm having the same issue on the 2024. Not ideal for a truck less than a month old. Were you able to find out if the calibration can be done at home or is taking to the dealer the only option?

it appears the protective plastic may still be on the gauge. Some dealers forget to take this off.

Have to go to dealer… dropping off this Friday for “all day” to recalibrate.

Agree on protective film. Didn’t have on my dash gauges but was the case with my entertainment screen.

Update - Dropped it off at the dealership Wednesday and said will have it back at the earliest Monday. No clue what’s taking so long. Will post another update with the work done on it.

    feels bad

Update: Dropped at dealer 9-12pm. Here's what was on the write up:

"Cause: Circumference camera ecu out of adjustment. No lines on backup camera.
Correction: Had to calibrate camera circumference ECU then go into radio diag mode and adjust all viewing cameras"

Unfortunately service was closed by the time I picked up the truck, so no idea if this will happen again or if I can just DIY. Sounds like both an adjustment to the camera itself AND some sort of diagnostic mode in the radio. Hopefully this helps someone else out there.

any updates? my truck did the same thing this morning. Gave a "trailer backup malfunction, see dealer" message accompanied with no back up lines. Not really excited if this is a normal occurrence and requires an all day dealer visit......

Unfortunately, that was my update. Had to drop it off only for a couple of hours. Didn't have a chance to get time 1 on 1 with the tech since they were closed. When I initially dropped it off the tech had no clue how to fix it and had to call the Toyota Technician mothership. Not 100% certain, but google searches on calibrating the ECU in a vehicle does not seem like an easy DIY. Hopefully they make it a recall and fix for everyone before others have the issue. At least it's now been a week and a half and I have not seen the issue again.

Anyone else dealing with this? Dealer said it was because I grille swapped for a trd pro and the camera is off but my front, back, and top view camera work fine I just don’t have side cameras or back up lines now.

I am experiencing this same issue myself in a 2024 Tundra TRD Pro

    This is crazy.

I ran the Truck thru a car wash - just water jets. Do you think this caused this problem. I think it was also malfunctioning before this.

I Had camera system set on auto and noticed it was not doing auto anymore and no guides.

    Very annoying.

Not sure what the cause is, mine started randomly doing it one morning. Took it to the dealer during an oil change and they calibrated it the same day….hopefully it’s a one and done issue and not a repeat.

Would like to know what fix is.

I found on youtube that Camrys have a reset method to recalibrate 360 cameras.

Is there a service menu for Tundra that we can access?

I took my car 2024 TRD Pro to the dealer to get the 360 camera system fixed as above

Dealer has been working on for 2 days so far - in. a RAV 4 Limited - not impressed at all.

Is this just a 2024 problem? Dealer said they have never seen this problem before.

Really questioning Tundra Quality - my 2021 Ram Rebel is abetter truck than the Tundra TRD Pro in my opinion. Sad to say

Wondering if anyone has any updates on this? The error message came up on mine this morning. No parking guide lines, no side camera views, and no auto camera. 550 miles on the tundra got it 3 weeks ago...

I have a 23 sequoia and I have the same problem with my parking guidelines. One morning, I tried to backup and the lines went away even the front camera lines. The automatic camera also went away. Any fixes dyi fixes before I go to the dealer?

Update: took to the dealer and recalibrated the camera. But I have to take them again because I noticed the recalibration is no accurate so check them before you leave.

Same problem after a heavy rainstorm ('24 Tundra). Been at the dealer for A WEEK and still no word except telling me they tried what Toyota Tech told them, didn't work, waiting to speak with Tech again. This is obviously not an uncommon issue and Toyota needs to address it. Insane for this to happen on a new vehicle and makes me question overall build and the potential for long term issues.

Took to the dealer today, they recalibrated. Took a couple hours. Service advisor said Toyota has not issued anything yet on the issue, but they expect them to soon.
