If having tow hooks is going to interfere with fuel economy that much then their aero and powertrain was not efficient enough to begin with. I always thought that explanation from Toyota and Sweers was a load of crap.

That's toyota's deal though they do it that with certain features on other vehicles like when they tried to spin why the Tacoma still has drum brakes. It's kind of annoying, just tell us the truth that most of is already know and we can move on instead of feeding us some BS like were all dumb.

It will be interesting to see this new tundra run up the Ike.

I know right? Sweers explanation was that drum brakes keep dust, dirt and sand out better than disc brakes. Except every other Toyota SUV and truck had disc brakes. Meanwhile Land Cruisers in the UAE with their "inferior" disc brakes that could get sand all over them were mobbing through sand dunes in Dubai without issues.

As tone deaf as the marketing department has been with this truck, It would not surprise me if the designers just flat out forgot the tow hooks....

Just my opinion, maybe make some cut outs in the automatic pivoting air dam flap so when it pivots down it does not interfere the tow hooks, that could have worked and been unique.

or even better… the air dam only deploys at highway speeds so tow hooks could easily be hidden behind it, you know for when you need tow hooks

or like some cars put a pop out that you can screw a hook in. I never needed them on the beach with my 2015 but damn if I wouldn’t need one on the beach if something happened. Sometimes you can’t grab from the rear or you’d be in the ocean. Deleted for fuel economy is bs

This is the route I plan on taking. A tow hook I can attach when I need it

Since the TRD OR doesn't have that active air dam, I'd be surprised if the Pro does.

Make sure Andre has his guitar when he does it. Cause that's what this truck was meant to haul.

Man is that one ugly front end. Sheesh. I know lots of designs start that way then you come to like them but i will be shocked if that happens here.

14 years is a long time. Many of us would upgrade if worth it. So yeah, I think most of us had a foot in the market. Then Toyota had a well documented drawn out release, series of marketing missteps, and delivered a very polarizing "non work" truck.

Not rocket science to understand the disappointment from lots of members.

I was/am. Truck literally has $1500 until I'm paid off...and had it cost maybe $3K less, I'd totally be all for it...but even if I pay off my truck, best deal I can find around here, with the truck configured as I want, would be $52K, meaning I'd have a $9K loan.

I can very easily afford that and have it paid off inside of 4-5 months, but would rather not.

I don't mind the front end, but I have to admit that a) it does look like a dead fish somewhat and b) I can't WAIT for aftermarket or other mods for the grill.

This is going to be exactly like the 2.5 gen- ugly everyone says till we see one tricked out version that’s been modded and suddenly it’s the cats pajamas. Chrome has got to go, small lift, new wheels and tires, a shell of your into that look (I have to have one) tint, etc and a Pro grill and it will be stunning

Zachly. All the moping about looks are predictable as diarrhea after taco bell.

Literally the same shit every single time a new version comes out of every vehicle ever made.

I was the same way with the 14, saw a member on here who murdered out a platinum with a lift, wheels and topper and called my dealer the next day- thing looked amazing.

And they got it from Fred Haas. Unless it’s just part of a marketing deal, they got screwed somewhere. That place is exactly what most people think of when they think of a car dealership.

Can confirm, direct quote from Fred Haas after first telling me they would do MSRP:

Also there is a catalyitc converter cover due to the theft issue Toyota is going through which combined with the window tint and scartch adds close to $3000 to the vehicle. I apologize, it slipped my mind to mention this.

Am in the market and have a truck being delivered in the next two weeks. Not a Tundra though as i really don't like anything about the '22 and can't find a fair price on new 21s. Owned Tundras for something like 15 years. So for my part my griping means $60k going to someone other than Toyota.
