I brought my 2024 in at 3700 miles to have the oil changed. They did the typical 5K service (rotate tires, fill fluids) and performed the transmission software update but when I got my truck back I noticed from the invoice they didn't change the oil. They kept insisting that it's not needed until 10K miles. I told them the oil change was the only reason I brought my truck in for service and insisted that they change it. (you get the first two free). They relented and changed my oil. I'll likely go back to get it changed again at 7500 miles (and have to fight them again) but in the end, the dealer owes you 2 oil changes for free on a new truck and it's really shouldn't matter when you get them.

All I had to do was say my truck operated under the severe duty portion and if they would like I can show them in the owners manual where it says to change the oil at 5,000 miles. That somewhat pissed them off but they agreed and made it clear I wasn't going to get twice the free oil changes. Which after them rotating the tires but not adjusting the pressures I decided to only use the dealer when I had no other choice.

I am getting ready for the free dealer oil change at the first 5,000 miles. What is normal service they will perform? Oil change, tire rotation, all fluids check and fill? Maybe a wash? Anything else I should seek? Then the 2nd oil change for free is 5k miles later at 10,000 miles?

My 2024 has 2420 miles on it, 4 months old. I had the oil changed today ($102) and had them investigate a throttle response issue. Throttle response is not as bad as I initially experienced; Toyota is telling me it "goes away" after the truck "learns" my driving habits...what a crock...we'll see. I've done a lot of short driving lately, so I opted for paying the cost for an early oil change.
