The 2nd one could be a Taco or 4unner like @FishNinja said. It was posted in the support group which isn't specific to Tundras. I took a gamble.

Nothing to se here according to the guys over at the First Gen Tundra Facebook group. Y’all really ought to get on that group and say anything negative about the lower ball joints on these trucks. Sparks fly! It is insane.

Thank you for doing this. Yes, we need all the info we can get about these failures before someone gets killed. We need to make a database with every detail we can get about the failure. Mileage. Was it original?A factory replacement or aftermarket? What speed did it occur? Damages incurred etc, etc, etc. We could save a life. Just remember the average Joe has no clue and they are riding right next to you and your loved ones on the freeway.

Not trying to be rude at all, but kind of a moot point. Average guy has no idea so they’re probably not looking for this kind of info anyways. But by the time they are… it’s probably cause their ball joint already bit the dust lol.

My '88 s10 blazer had a lbj failure. Must've broke the nut, because the cotter pin was still in it.

i'm more worried about people that ugga dugga their lugnuts.

Sorry, I am still reeling from the Facebook page. I was arguing with some guys that we should try and get the word out to the general public who own these trucks about the seriousness of the issue. Thanks for not being a dick like the guys on the First Gen Tundras Facebook group!

That's why @FirstGenVol started this page. We've had some failures on here, but we make sure and beat it into everybody's head about OEM balljoints on their first post, even if they're not asking. That and frame rust. And timing belts.

Speaking of which, how's your LBJs, frame and TB?

Timing belt done 3yrs/14K miles ago. Frame has minor surface rust but still very solid. LBJs, getting replaced next month. 87K on the current LBJs.

Considered asking this guy if he'd sell the topper. It's exactly what I have, except an intact rear window. Also noticed this.

Seem to be regular performance. I don’t get any additional air on jumps. They don’t increase my turning radius when drifting. They make the normal “clack clack” and “grrrrrrrrrrr” noises when I check them.

Not if you replaced em before failure. This thread is an eye-opener, & should probably be linked to the newb superthread.

the buzzkill is the toyota engineer that designed the bits to be upside down or not include a safety strap.

nah you right. It was some steel welded together to catch the truck if the ball ever separated from the socket. Kinda not bad, kinda redneck ingenuity

Has anyone made bumper stickers like "LBJ failed and I lived to talk about it" or "LBJ failed and I need a hug"? Someone needs to cater to that FB support group.
